So let’s dive straight in, is Bitwarden safe? I'm happy to say yes, it is.
💎 Master password
💎 Hashing
💎 Encryption
💎 Third-party audits
💎 No major security issues
💎 Open source
💎 Data compliance
Bitwarden noteworthy features:
✅ Password reusing report
✅ Password strength report
✅ Unsecure website report
✅ Breached database report
✅ Auto-fill
✅ Password sharing
Overall, Bitwarden is a solid password manager.
It's secure, user-friendly, free, and even the premium options are affordable compared to other password managers.
I also appreciate that the company is transparent regarding its audit findings and remediation efforts.
Their customer support could certainly use some work to make it more accessible, and I'd prefer if they stored their data in a more privacy-friendly country, but that's not a deal-breaker, in my opinion.

Was planning to get BitWarden and hesitated a lot, but this review helped me make up my mind! Thank you for the review, liked and subscribed!
That was an incredible review, honestly! Very helpful, thanks!
I was a software developer and currently a system engineer. Bitwarden for me is just perfect. UI, feature ad functionality wise. We also use this in our business
I love bitwarden, my first password manager, it's hard to trust other solutions.
I just downloaded on android and can't get it to autofill.
@@BadWeatherfreak make sure you turn on the autofill feature in the app settings otherwise it won't fill by default. Also occasionally in some apps it may play up a bit, but thankfully the majority of the times, at least in my experience, autofill works fine on Android on apps and websites.
Bitwarden is indeed a great password manager and will definitely grow.
Hi Kris! thanks for watching ;) which password manager do you use?
Fantastic! Your video is clear, simple, easy to understand and really pro, hehe. Thank you very much! 😃👍
Like others mentioned... great review, fluid... very well prepared to create a professional presentation.
Really great review, CN. Thank you very much.
Self-hostability is Bitwarden’s exclusive killer feature. Guess I will stick to it for the rest of my life unless 1password has its own version of self-host feature. Still, even the free version of Bitwarden is good enough for most people.
Thank you information. I owned Bitwarden server, I am so happy to use all feature.
Thank you for this informative review! Great channel!
Thanks for watching!
I absolutely love Bitwarden! Makes everything so easy!
Thank you for the comprehensive review. I just signed up today and will be giving the free version a go before deciding.
Hope you enjoy it!
How has your experience been so far?
Thanks for a great video. So much hype right now with all the lastpass news and issues it's hard to really get a simple discussion of what is going on.
Hi! I just subscribed to your channel. I love your clear explanation on things. Kinda' makes me less anxious about these things. I don't know if Imma' try it out yet though. Thank you!
Awesome! Thank you! Stay tuned for our future reviews and recommendations 👀
I used Lastpass for a long time with the paid version. However it is closed source and has exposed some of the original code. I'm worried, when the lastpass paid plan expires I will switch to bitwarden
This was such a great review.
Thanks for the kind words!
Would have liked a mention of the self-hosting option
Great job! 👌
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience!
My pleasure!
We can use our own innovation like not storing username or storing username/password separately... use some known thing as a suffix, prefix or midfix... end of day some creativity+password manager will be great. I love bitwarden
Thank you! You're the man.
The pleasure is mine!
Thanks for a great video, yes i will get Bitwarden
Enjoy it
my password manager app folded, i kinda like because it saved my stuff locally. The self hosting does appeal, for now I'll give it a try.
Thanks so much I'm using it now it's so useful omg
You're welcome, glad you enjoy it as much as us! Are there any features you really enjoy? :)
@@cybernews I really love the autofill it really does save time!
Good to know. Just signed up with them after learning my old password manager is ceasing operations next month.
Thanks good Video. I am trying the free version to start with. One thing I have not found how to do is embed a file or picture into a vault entry - is this possible?
Can you please explain if I have 2FA enabeled how it changes the hash that is sent to BW servers to decrypt my blob. Like how does 2FA change it? If a bad player has my encrypted blob and its protected by a 256-bit key does it mater if i have 2FA or not?
You forgot to mention that it supports Yubikey, making it even more secure
Opinion of the self-hosted Vaultwarden version?
Thank U
I don’t know how to import iCloud Keychain to Bitwarden. Anyone have a video link?
Hi just curious, since they stored the last 5 password / secret notes changes, how do we know that these info is not transmitted back to bitwarden or potentially stored in some file locally that could be a potential risk?
Anyway great video man, was very concise and informative.
Hey Sam. Bitwarden’s servers only receive already hashed versions of your email and password, which are hashed again when the data is transmitted and only then stored on their databases. The process is repeated every time you’re logging in. Which means the data pieces would be useless to a cybercriminal that breaches Microsoft Azure servers. Not to mention, the service uses an encrypted vault to store all your passwords.
@@cybernews what if a hacker, or the NSA is getting into the bitwarden team, then sending out a compromised update to the bitwarden software?
Nice
Great video!, btw what do you think about Trezor password manager?
Hey Diego, thanks for your comment! I'd have to do more research to give a reliable opinion on that one. In the future maybe we'll cover it. :)
@@cybernews thanks for your answer, I’d love that, currently it’s my main password manager, anyway, keep it going guys, I like your channel very much, see you!
@@DiegoArmistead Your support is really appreciated! :)
I just created an account, and the process to import my BB Password Keeper data was easy. The only thing I couldn't enable was the Device Verification option, it looks like disable to the user, not an option that you can manually enable. Even I didn't enable it, when I did the logon using MS Edge on Android, the system detected that logon as a different device and I got an email alert... maybe the already enable the feature by default, but the option on the security section still not showing enable or checked. The app and the web are designed easy enough for most users.
Hey, regarding the Device Verification option, have you tried reinstalling the application? This might sound silly, but this really helps in a lot of cases! If that would not help, I would recommend contacting their customer support by following this link: www.keepersecurity.com/en_GB/support.html 👀
"military grade" and "national security agency"....my eyes almost rolled into the back of my head.
I was just thinking: military backdoor inside the code
So did the back of your head have a solution ?
Would be fun to get all these hashes for later, when quantum computing can decrypt all of them...
Finally :D
hahaha! thanks for watching!
Are you talking about paid bitwarden or the free account?
You must also consider reviewing cloud storages
Hey Lurva, cheers for the idea!
👍 👌👍👍
thanks for watching!
Does Bitwarden encrypt my entire vault? As opposed to only passwords, like LastPass does?
I am on the same hunt. Went for Keeper Security now
here getting reviews since the lastpass hack and my subscription is about to renew. Thinking about bitwarden and 1password. Thanks for your review.
I'm looking for a password manager because I have a terrible memory
I believe you can use a Raspberry Pi for self hosting.
Oh cool, thanks for the comment, I'll look into that. :)
There's a RUST port of the Bitwarden server (Bitwarden RS) that runs great on a Pi.
Just don't store your vault solely on the SD storage or you'll be sorry.
Typo in your video
It shows 6 devices, which should read 6 users which is different.
Military grade = MINIMUM acceptable quality. It’s a marketing term. AES256 is sufficient, no need for the buzz words.
There is stronger out there than AES 256... also talk about spider oak regardless. Thx
so why does the hunt for best password manager continues if bitwarden is so good according to you?
He needs to keep trying out new password managers to see if another one is now better. You don’t just buy one camera then use that camera for the rest of your life cause it was the best one in the past
1:50 - can’t BitWarden employees just reverse the hash using an online tool if a weak password is used by an unsuspecting end user? 🤔
Yes that is a possible outcome though you are trusting in another company in the first place. If you have a weak password that should be the first thing you should attempt to fix. Then another solution is to self host it because then bitwarden employees don't have access to your instance.
Not really. He has simplified it in the video but they actually do multiple iterations of the password. So, no one will be able to figure it out.
no they cant do anything the only for them to find out is by putting a tool which records the passwords and that isnt possible since its open source and its reviewed alot and they cant reverse hash because its one way only
@@DurgaswaroopPerla they cant do anything really the vault is encrypted and the login info is hashed and cant be reversed the only way for them to find out is putting tools which isnt possible because its open source so it will be obvious for everyone and its reviewed by alot of developers
I really enjoyed reading the expertise of everyone who replied. Loi’s channel is really a cool forum for deadsec experts and like I said, I really enjoyed reading all your thoughts
The free password managers never get a fair review on here sadly
here's our review of the best free password managers in 2021 > ruclips.net/video/1F5NU5Hsp9Y/видео.html
Dashlane or bitwarden?
Or 1password?
It really depends on what capabilities you're expecting/what type of user you are. Bitwarden is highly customisable and can be self-hosted. Then, Dashlane has really great autofill and in general is super easy to use.
Bitwarden or Nordpass?
Both are actually very good, but NordPass Premium offers more features, if you're willing to pay a little
A simple network monitor would have got you the real hash for your animation, lol. Also, never trust anyone who uses the term "military grade encryption"
For the record, I mean neither of these as an insult. It's a good video. "Military grade" is usually just a buzz word. In this case it's accurate, but often it's a way to make something sound more secure than it is by emphasizing military application of the encryption, but this has nothing to do with other portions of the application of course.
@@user-sw1wq8lh2w Understandable, thanks for the clarification 👍
!
😯
What if you loose your master password? Then all of your accounts are lost.
They give you recovery codes
dont lose it write it somewhere
This is where personal accountability comes into play. Don't lose it. Write it down (as suggested) and stick it in a safe.
@@laughingalien and if someone finds it, they get access to everything
@@megapet777 If somebody is in your house to open your safe - you have bigger problems.
They don’t do reproducible builds of their binaries however so at the end of the day you simply have to trust them, like any proprietary solution.
Does bitwarden search the dark web?
Hi, if you're looking for Dark web monitoring, Norton may be more suitable. Bitdefender does have a lot of protection against advanced threats though, like their web attack prevention and notably their protection against malware, adware and spyware.
Why does this sound more like a sales pitch than an honest review?
Thanks for your feedback. We do try all of the providers out in order to give honest opinions.
@@cybernews The review was good 👍
How can you do a sales pitch for a free application?
@@JoeyBaby47 good point but it is coming across as a review/sales pitch. I use Bitwarden and I’m still thinking they could make it easier to set up for things like auto logging in.
Frankly, this sounds like an advertisement -- not a review.
Is it important to have all these videoeffects? It takes away the focus on Bitwarden!!!
Thanks for the feedback, we're happy to take it on board. :)
My question is: How do we KNOW Bitwarden will encrypt our passwords and take all of the security measures mentioned here? Answer: We don't.
what doesn't convince me and that's why I keep using keepassxc, is that I don't have knowledge or access to the database, if at least they let me choose where to host my password database, maybe I would consider it as a service, but in my opinion keepassxc is excellent as a password manager and except for iOS, it works on mac, windows, linux, android
You have the option to self-host
