I totally agree with your statement on Greek HEMAist ! These people are great, don't hesitate to visit them.
Unfortunately, I had a wedding this year but I'll be there in the next ones !

That's some great advice. I'm even thinking of moving to cooler places, just because HEMA has just became an important part of my life.

Thank you. You will have an advantage. Heat affects everyone, but people who have developed in warmer places have it easier.

Hold the tournament in an air-conditioned venue? Hailing from Bastion Hema Singapore, located on the equator.

Yeah, that's not realistic on the Balkans. We are poor AND stingy :D

PS: Turned out the hall WAS air-conditioned. Let me tell you, it doesn't help much after half an hour in gear.

@@borislavkrustev8906 That seems more like an issue of acclimatization of wearing full gear for long periods of time. Before our own Bashfest(local tournament), I went for 8 weekends of intensive Open Sparring, during which we all wore full gear thru-out, to build up the heat resistance. It became very easy during the tournament itself, becoz we had far more rest time in between bouts, and less bouts per day to boot.
As an example, for Open Sparring, we were doing around 9 bouts within 30-60mins over a 2 hour session for each person in a day, whereas the tournament was 7 bouts over 3.5 hours in a day(i.e. 14 bouts over 2 days). Also, a couple of the Opens were in 6th storey room with poorer air-con, so we were totally dying from heat, and had to duck down to 5th storey main hall to get better cooling before coming back up.

@@edwinpoon Keep in mind you've lived there, I am assuming, for years :) The video above is meant for people who live in colder places and go and compete in hotter ones. But yes, in gear acclimatization also plays a big role.

@@borislavkrustev8906 good point about the weather part, given the temperature here ranges from 25-37C. Even now, the outside noon temp is 34C, at 80% humidity, baking.
Anyway, if you ever visit Singapore, pop in to Bastion Hema during opening hours, our schedule is on our website or u can check out the Facebook page; weekends is when we have our Open Sparring though. We only have like two big Westerners(relative size to Asians) as members right now, and I think neither r at ur skill level, so would certainly want to experience getting pwned by u, especially with S&B.
