I had a scaper, went to the store for the glass cleaner and dishwasher tabs not in plastic. It was 10 years of buildup on the glass. And now? My oven looks new! Took me more than 20 minutes…(maybe an hour) but it’s beautiful, and now I know how to maintain. Plus, I will get to “see” my turkey (through the pristine window) roasting on Thanksgiving! Thank you for a tip that really works well!
Boss. Much better video than a lot of them out there 👍👍 2 out of 2 thumbs up
OMG. Thank you Georgina. I have been trying everything under the sun to remove the brown build up on our oven door. Multiple expensive products and of course baking soda and vinegar. All to no avail. However, your dishwasher tablet hack worked brilliantly! Thank you!
Folks in the states might be confused by the “ceramic” tool used in this vid, as the name is misleading. This tool is nothing more than a holder for a conventional single-edged steel razor blade. These tools are available in all sorts of styles on Amazon and in hardware stores and have many uses. Yes, a steel blade can scratch glass, but note that the tool is always held at a VERY low angle when used on glass - and just about every other material, for that matter. As for the dishwasher pods, if you don’t have them, there is no need to run out and buy a supply. They are nothing more than a cake of detergent. After all, they are used for cleaning dishes, not bulldozers. Liquid dish detergent applied with a plastic scrub pad and assisted by a scraper works exactly the same. And here’s a glass cleaning tip you won’t see on any You Tube vid: bronze (also called brass) wool. This is like steel wool but, no surprise, made of bronze or brass. Professional window cleaners use the stuff to get far tougher stuff - like paint - off glass. The stuff is much more expensive than steel wool but there is no substitute for the most stubborn deposits.
Does it matter if it’s fine or medium for the bronze/brass wool? Thanks for the tip!
I tried this today, 3/18/2022. It’s great! I was able to clean the glass and the entire door around it. So easy. Thank you.
I have this exact type of scraper to scrape paint off windows, it never occurred to me to use it for anything else. Thanks for a great hack with the scraper and the d/w tablets, never thought of that either! 2 for 2!!!
Thanks for your help. What you did really helped me on cleaning my stove especially the glass like you were doing. Thanks again from Texas.
After I tried the dishwasher tablet and found how they dissolved easily as they are designed to, I got three more and let them crumble in some neat fairy liquid. Touch of hot water (tbsp) and then smeared the paste onto the glass (removed as my door is vertical) and let it sit for an hour.
Plastic hob scraper and off it came.
No elbow grease used at all.
Sounds good - thanks - will give that a go next time.
Thank you for this. I've tried cream cleaner, then bicarb, and water mixture. So far, nothing has got the oven door clean. I'll be trying the scraper today. Generic cream cleaner and a Scrub Daddy sponge does work on less caked on parts though.
Thank you just bought a thermadore steam oven your dishwasher method was incredible it save me from Ms. Sharon being terribly upset with me Thank You
Great tip. I didn't have the scraper but the dishwasher tablets worked a treat. Thank you
I just tried this. This really works. THANK YOU ❤️
Thank you SOOOO much - I have been scrubbing so long I'm certain to be in pain tmrw! Trying your way now - I should have searched before starting this project...live & learn. Thnkx again 😁😊😁
Glad I could help!
nice work.. really hard to clean this type of material..
OMG! IT WORKS IT REALLY REALLY WORKS. DID IT TODAY 05/03/2023. THE DISHWASHER TABLET REALLY WORKS 100%
Thanks alot for this......I just tried the dishwasher tablet to clean my oven glass door and it worked......took me less than 5mins. My oven door wasn't badly dirty but this would have taken me like 30mins with baking soda.
It's great isn't it, I use it for all hard-baked grease now
Excellent, natural, honest video. I used a razor blade, and it worked! Thanks very much.
Glad the razor blade worked : )
Thanks for the scraper suggestion. I didn't have it around so I used the classic thin shaving razor blade I held between my fingers. Dry. I was done in 3 minutes. No mess, no gloves All baked on grease was simply shaved off the glass.
But my glass was not so greasy as yours.
O
It works! Thank you.
Thank you so much! I almost surrendered. Amazing for the dishwashing tablet to solve my problem :)
I used a Glass Top Cleaner made to clean the tops of electric ranges !! Works great on oven doors ! When done wipe it down with Vinegar and Water !
I found that using kitchen foil rolled into a ball works really well with hob bright.... It does need some elbow grease but it works!!!!!
I just did the dishwasher tablet technique and it worked well, Thank you
Excellent tips thanks, like the dishwasher tab and scraper knife ideas
I saw the dishwasher tab hack, but I used the scrapper before on my stove top before, so I combined the two. I went through 5 tabs and about 40 minutes. A fresh blade in the scrapper is a good idea.
Dishwasher tablet and scraper worked a treat!
Brilliant! Really informative and lovely presentation Thank you
Thank you - glad it was helpful : )
Thank you so much! It worked like a charm!
paste made from wood ash and water, cleans easily without scratching
I use a bbq grate grill cleaner..spray it on the glass and let it sit for about 2 mins..then use the scraper..it comes right off..i had the glass completely cleaned in about 2 mins time..and it was really baked on with residue
Just use a new stanley blade as a mini scraper to clean the glass doors only.. it won't scratch and is quicker..just hold it with some work gloves..
My husband has been fitting my kitchen since September and it's 90% done now, my kitchen looks the same as yours, fab, as I always had a crap one and I live in an old Victorian house where all the walls aren't straight. I finally have hob and a fitted cooker and I have an induction oven, so any advice gratefully appreciated have you any advice on cleaning a induction hob?
Where do you buy the scraper fron please? Can you use any dishwasher tablets?
You can get it from amazon amzn.to/3ZXccEU - yes most tablets should work
that opening scene is the best. it made me smile lol thanks!
I use that scraper for cleaning my ceramic hob too
They're really handy aren't they
Which products are useful for cleaning?
This one amzn.to/3ZXccEU
Paint brush on oven pride, leave overnight, wipe the next morning done. Also get your fingers under the bottom of the glass ( the bit nearest the hinges ) and carefully lift, and then move up to the top and lift.
The glass comes out and you can clean the inside of the oven glass and the inside of the door front glass, if that makes sense.
Good tip for cleaning in between the glass. I tend to avoid Oven Pride because of having young kids but it certainly does the job if you're happy using it.
@@GeorginaBisbyDIY do you avoid it because of the fumes or potential transfer to food?
If you look on the oven pride site is specifically says 'Do not use on glass oven door'
What is the cleaner you used??
this one amzn.to/3Lz0yLe
Please can someone add a link to the scraper eg Amazon so I know what I am looking for? Thanks!
Here you go amzn.to/3UbL4yz it's also in the video description : )
Great tips... I already use the ceramic scraper & liquid cleaner on the range top but didn't realize I could use it on the oven door. Thanks for the info.
Laundry powder and water on a paper towel is working just as well 👌
what is the name of that scraper you used for this and where can you get them?
It is a non-scratch scraper - they’re on Amazon - there’s a link to on in the video description
Dishwasher tablets are a great hack if you don’t mind a bit of elbow grease. My oven door is virtually spotless
Love the music! Reminds me of 1960's TV commercials! 😂
😆
@@GeorginaBisbyDIY it kinda scratched the glass. Will that compromise the structure of the glass?
Use D9 degreeser works like a charm ,make sure to warm up the oven first👍🏾
Hi Georgina.... Your idea of using a dishwasher tablet got me thinking,,,,, THIS IDEA IS CLEAR MAGIC.......Use a wet dishwasher tablet together with REVIVE POWER PASTE..... IT IS MAGIC.
It takes about 1 minute to clean the whole door. THIS WILL CHANGE YOUR LIFE. Les Emmerson.
Thanks for the tip - I'm usually cautious about mixing cleaning products but power paste looks quite innocuous.
Maybe aluminum foil over the glass before you self clean the oven next time. It might keep the glass a little cleaner too. Thanks for the video I'll give it a try.
Thank you so much, you’ve just saved me £70 many thanks again 🙏🏻🎄
What is that solution you’re using?
It’s called Hob Brite - it’s a non-scratch cream cleaner
I can't believe that we allow our oven glass to get so nasty , when it's so easy to clean it and keep it clean. just wipe it off each time you use it. I had to get rid of a stove because I couldn't get it cleaned and so when I bought this new stove I make sure that every time something splatters on it I clean it immediately save so much time down the road.
Thanks very useful hack
Bummer, I can't get the scraper or the hob brite here in the US. But I'll try the dish wash pods. thanks for the video!
Ah that’s a shame.
As I posted elsewhere here, the “ceramic scraper” term is misleading. That tool is nothing more than a plastic-handled device for holding a conventional single-edge steel razor blade. They are available in hardware stores and many other places, including Amazon as always.
What is that scraper called and where can one order one? Is it better to clean the glass door BEFORE putting the over on 500C? Alas, I had not clean my over for 8 years but I use it very scarcely, twice or three times a year. Is there any hope for me?
you can pick it up on amazon amzn.to/3ZXccEU
There is always hope - it just might take a bit more elbow grease!
What is the name of the tool you used
It's a non-scratch oven scraper like this one amzn.to/3ZXccEU
Hi Georgina - great video, however, your link to the non-scratching tool on Amazon isn't working, will you please update this link. THANK YOU!
Ah sorry - just updates so should work now : )
Thank you SO much for your quick reply!!!
Thanks for the tip! I'll try the tablet method. I used to mix a load of cheap washing powder with water in a builder's bucket and leave overnight.
It'll be a similar method as the enzymes break the grease and turn it scummy. But this seems better as I don't have to remove it
Less elbow grease required for your method I imagine!
This was helpful I gonna use this on my over today x
Great video 🙂. These days I have to clean my oven as well 🙂. Helpful video 👍
Thanks Yannis 😀
Where would I buy the non scratch scraper?
You can pick them up on amazon amzn.to/3ZXccEU
@@GeorginaBisbyDIY thank you
Hi, could you melt a tablet in the water, insert it into a spraying bottle to use it as a commercial spray product? I don't know if it loses efficacy using it this way .... mine is a bad English, I hope you understand !!
I don’t think it’s as effective once it’s diluted unfortunately
I suppose a good Washing up liquid would have a similar effect if rubbed in with a sponge no it works on glass oven dishes
Wish I saw this video first! Baking soda, Dawn, Mr. Clean all with lots of scrubbing and nothing worked. Razor blade !YES! Obvious solution - never too old to learn!
Very helpful and informative!!!!
Glad it was helpful!
She looks like Liv Ullmann.
Lol .. basically that's all what I did. I scrapped first and then cleaned with the dishwasher soap but used a pink non-scratch sponge.
This works
great tips✌
If you have a pyrolytic oven the door should get cleaned in that process . Mine does
You're lucky - ours doesn't unfortunately.
great
Watched your vid, used two dishwasher tablets. Done in 20mins
Greetings! I liked the video Very important for all of us, thank you very much! keep sharing & I'm always there to support you :-)
Thanks 😊 have a lovely day
Wau 🤩
Baking soda n vinegar
Doing A Replay
Scraper is a bad idea. You will more than likely significantly scratch the glass
Not if you use a non-scratching scraper
Oh yes of course if you got the kit for cleaning your ceramic hob like I have you are all set... was being a bit thick really 🤣🤣🤣🤩🤩
Thank you....
shoot. I wanted to try the pods on my oven door and it's not dirty. Darn housekeepers. LOL
How the other half live 😊
Just take the glass out...
Yeh ti's about 70 quid for proffesional to do it just the same....
Jiff and scourer
Your accent, how ever lovely, makes it hard for me to understand you. Please talk a little slower.
I got an even better solution, I get my missus to do it. I only eat vegetarian stuff which never splatters fat and grease over the oven, She would eat your arm if you held it out, cooks fatty, oily meats thus messes the oven up therefore has to clean up the mess.
On that tip though, have you ever struggled with a smoke stained log burner glass? After scrubs with soapy water and non scratch scourers I accidentally tried Tesco oven cleaner spray (in a green spray bottle) and the black coked on stain instantly dissolved from the fire glass. I was amazed. Not tried it on the oven yet, I will one of these days I promise, 😁😁😁
Sounds like a good tip. Newspaper works well for log burner glass too.
@@GeorginaBisbyDIY I remember my Dad used to use newspaper to clean the windows back in the 70s, there was something in the ink jhe daid but today's inks are different and not the same result. Probably more water based.
Got a good tip for inside the windscreen, for streak free finish,???
any excuse to tell people you're a vegetarian huh?
What is the princess with vinegar?
No, wrong even asparagus and potatoes and other vegtables can and will splatter oil if coated, and other non meats like pasta and dairy splatter in the oven. Unless you don't use the oven and are now recently single don't delegate this task to your wife alone, if anything do it as a geoup project and use it as a bonding experience.
You are beautiful
