The other paintings were done by an 18 year old (two angels), 15 year old (girl with book), 13 year old (landscape). A good education can work wonders! Plus they've all been doing this for many years
I wish you so much success with this and I hope you learn a ton from doing the course. You will get there, we all started off somewhere. You have the drive for it. AND THANK YOU for saying talent is a myth, being an artist is a skill you train just like any other skill. Some learn faster, some learn slower and that is A-OK no matter which. This is your own personal art journey not anyone else's.
I'm really happy for you! Someday, I would want to become an art student too. Sure, many claimed that it's better to just learn art on your own and via online tutorials. But I still believe that you will improve a lot more if taught under the supervision of a legitimate master that would supervise your works real time. And you also get to be friends and meet with people sharing the same passion to which you could exchange ideas too.
Interesting, I don't think anyone could learn better and faster on their own vs. under a good mentor. Good luck to you! I hope you find those good circumstances and a great teacher

I think the reason most people believe that it's better to learn on your own is because of the belief that all you have to do to get better is too simply practice which for me is simply not true. Just practicing is bad because a person might actually be practicing bad techniques and habits. I am lucky that I discovered Drawabox which taught me the better ways of how to draw. Also, cost and time. For most people, they just recommend us to learn on our own since it would be less costly. But eh... It's kinda like how it's better to learn any skills like programming, math, science, etc. at school rather simply on one's own. School teaches discipline for me even though I am not particularly fond of most of my teachers. Admittedly, I learned 3D modeling on my own via online tutorials. But it's simply because in 3D modeling, it mostly comes down on the knowledge of the tools. It isn't as skill heavy as drawing. Anyways, I am wishing for your success and keep on uploading contents and updates about your artistic life!
So happy for you! For the red paint, sometimes binder comes out straight from the tube and the proportion between pigment and binder (which is oil) gets all weird. I usually massage my tubes whenever I see binder on top or when oil spills out! Or you could switch tubes lol.
Really excited for you, the schools looks awesome and I'm sure you will improve TONS. That kid's painting was wild lol so good.
