I used this recently with a child who is struggling with fears, I asked him to show me what safety looked like, then I asked him to show me what the fear looked like. All items were in the sand together. It was very interesting what he selected! I would love to see your 50 directives!
One of my initial directive is "Make a space that represents how you are today", but my favorite is the re-scripting directive (I use sometimes, not always)"Look from a distance what would you change to make this space better" (it can be the atmosphere, the aesthetics, structure) etc... then sometimes we try to associate with the change, and what it tells
For kids why favorite directive is "Show me what your Brain feels when..." For adults My directives can often be as simple as "Show me what your heart wants to tell me" if we haven't yet picked a specific direction of work.
I like to use, "show me a world to describe how you are feeling lately" (older adults with depression). I would like a copy of the directives, please. :)
I'm just learning. I appreciate these ideas. I'd love to see your directives. Thank you!
I love these videos they have been so insightful I am just beginning my sand tray journey and would love a copy of the directives 😊

A directive I like to use with adults is tell me about your family of origin.
