They have some weird syntaxes that they use over and over again, sometimes inappropriately, like saying "but this next performance was truly shocking" when it's not actually that shocking.
I’m wondering; were is the disaster in this video? I like your channel very much because of the great insight on the running world, but lately, sometimes you’re putting names on your videos just for attracting people. I really hope you continue with your serious work. (You’re my number one source on RUclips for important running) Respectfully.
This is a non-story, and certainly shouldn't in any way be depicted as a "disaster." @@abone2pickpeople only care about outdoor track, both of those records (as well as Jakob 2 mile) were outdoor, not to mention that they stood unrivaled for 20+ years by some of the greatest of all time. The 2k isn't known but it shows that he's ahead of Kerr simply because its comparable to the mile and 1500 world record. The 3k record was the most impressive track world record of the decade in my opinion, because he solo smashed what many considered an unbreakable world record by over 3 seconds with no competition in the last 800m, even world record holders and Olympic and world medalists couldn't hang with that, so yes, his 3k is 10x more impressive than the indoor two mile, that is RARELY raced so it has little relevance besides the athletes current fitness level. And like Jakob said, he'd've won that race blindfolded. What next, nobody cares about whatever world record Jakob happens to break next? Say the 5k or the mile/1500? Because Jakob still has 2 years left in his 24-26 y/o physical prime for the 1500-5000, and Kerr is on his way out of that age and moving more into Jake Wightman territory of athlete (really really really good and hard to beat but would be very surprised if he climbs on top of the podium)
Certainly not as much as about the 1500 and 5000 which are distances featured in the major global comps. Would be good to see a world record from either of the two.

I wonder if Kerr will ever show up to an European Championships (I would like to see him run in one, so I would be nice to be proven wrong), and I wonder if that will ever happen: Berlin 2018: Kerr wasn't in the top 3 in Britain, so he didn't qualify 2020: Cancelled due to Covid Munich 2022: Had the chance to compete, and get some redemption from his 5th place in Eugene and 12th place in Birmingha, (Commonwealth games), but chose not to. Wightman (Gold medalist from Eugene) chose to compete at that EC, but in the 800m (got the silver), Katir (bronze in Eugene) chose to compete in Munich, but in the 5000m (he got the silver). Garcia (4th in Eugene) chose to compete in Munich, and got the bronze. Kerr was the only guy in the top 5 from Eugene 2022 who dodged the EC in Munich later that year. Birmingham 2026: Let's see if he shows up Kerr has also never showed up in the indoor EC. If Jakob sucks in championships finals/unpaced races (Kerr's words, not mine), then facing off with Jakob in the EC shouldn't be scary or a big deal to Kerr. I don't get his logic. (The one European championships Kerr actually has attened is the European Junior Championships in 2015 where he won gold.)
@dt2165 I have news for you Jacob can’t win in 100/200/400/or 800 because his best distance has always been 5000m . In my estimation he can obliterate those records . But he is also a great 1500m runner that needs a certain race shape to win .
@kylesuarez5540 That's just bizarre as no other Big Name Athlete would get away with losing in their Primary Event @3 Consecutive Global Champs let alone @4 Consecutive Global Champs!
The 1500M is Ingebrigsten’s weakest middle distance event (other than the 800M which he almost never races). He knows that. Any dummy can work that out. He only does the 1500M as it is easily the most prestigious track distance race, and he’s extremely good at the distance, albeit vulnerable. He just doesn’t have the raw, natural speed that the great 1500M runners since 1980 have possessed - Coe, Cram, Morcelli, El Guerrouj, Ngeny probably head that list, but there are slightly lesser others such as Cacho. These superior athletes were capable of running 50 seconds for the last 400M (and some did - Morceli, Cacho) off even a reasonably solid pace. I believe Ingebrigsten would struggle to break 52 seconds. His best times for the 100M, 200M and 400M sprints would probably be quite mediocre. His best listed 800M time is 1:46.44 (2020); 400M 51.03 (2017). Coe’s best 800M best time was 1:41.73, Cram 1:42.88. NOW - move up to 3000M and further to 5000M - and Ingebrigsten, at his best, or near best, is virtually invincible. If the pace is slow he’ll just run the last mile in under 3:50 (probably well under). If the pace is very fast he’ll just sit behind the leader(s) and crush them over the last 400M to 600M with his superior strength/endurance. For God’s sake he ran a 7:17.55 3000M world record. The 5000M world record is in great danger of being blown apart once he very slightly tweaks his training towards more sustained endurance. On his 3000M best time I wouldn’t bet against him breaking 12:30.00 for 5000M at some point in time. Moving further up to 10000M with more tiny tweaks to his training regime over time - and sub 26:00.00 is definitely on the cards, particularly with the continued technological improvements to racing spikes. Before that I believe he’s got the ability to break El Guerrouj’s mile world record (3:43.13). El Guerrouj’s 1500M world record (3:26.00) - which is equivalent to a 3:42.50 mile - is his biggest test, but given everything perfect (or close to) you never know.
Kerr is a disgusting petty person who disgraces the sport. As a former college miler on a gravel track running a 4:09 I know how difficult this distance is. Kerr is awful. Horrible
Jakob is nowhere near as good in the 800m as he is in the 1500m, 3000m and 5000m, but he had an enormous talent, and if he focused on that event he could've become an absolute 800m beast. 2015: 1:52.60 previous WR for 14-year olds (Former record was 1:53.03, current record is 1:51.23) 2016: 1:51.07 fastest 15-year in the world that year (second fastest was 1:51.87) 2017: 1:49.40 7th fastest U18 runner in the world that year. 2nd fastest European U18 runner that year (1st was 1:48.68 by Alex Botterill (who's also 8 months older than Jakob)) 2020: 1:46.44 47th fastest in the world that year (seniors). There is a lot of trash talk going on in the scene. Why should Jakob care about Josh‘s 2 mile pB as in the previous season he himself had already performed 6 sec faster. Btw: Even Jakob‘s pB 800m of 1:46.44 is quite acceptable, as it‘s even faster than Hicham El G‘s (1:47,18) and not much slower than Bernard Lagat‘s (1:46.00). I have a lot of fun and feel much better entertained by Jakob‘s courageous races than by Josh‘s social media appearances in several online talk shows.
04:40 it's like trashtalking like this not only keeps a athlete relevant and in the limelight (so sponsors and money) but ALSO keeps a super niche sport in the limelight aka more sponsor money coming in :P It's just a tactic for $ just like Niemann is doing in chess with Carlsen.
Both dudes are similarly impressive, likeable, abrasive, and entertaining. I'm glad they are back on the trash train. Makes USA proud and Cole Hocker look even better, plus the joy of watching athletes stir up drama. Yared and Cole show what actually caring looks like, and 2nd and 4th show what getting high off your own supply does. I love it!
If you’re the best, you don’t have to talk trash because your performance speaks for you. The only reason to trash talk is to try to get into your opponent’s head so you can beat them. Only when you fear losing do you “need” to trash talk.
Love that Kerr was clowning Jakob that he would have a hard time in the 800 when he would never race Jakob in the 5000 because it wouldn't even be close.
i love josh kerr and ingebrigsten for keeping the beef alive and making distance running so electric and intrigueing so many non distance running fans are coming around just because of it and are intrested in distancer running and the lore behind the athletes which is amazing this type of rivalry keeps up and distance running and is going to be right up there next to sprinting in both interest and money sponserships
Ingebrigtsen dominating a relatively poor European Championship field is irrelevant to the fact Kerr was talking about the global stage. It's obvious the 8 is outside of Jakob's range and Kerr's comments were perfectly reasonable. In fact, GST might have missed a trick by just having an 800 group and a 15/3k group.
Hate the click bait and also your interpretation is not completely correct. Kerr is referencing non-paced races in the 1500m is Ingebrigtsen's weakness, he wouldn't care about the 5000m races. The 2024 European Championship 1500m, although not paced, it was a weak field. Ingebrigtsen would have won either from the front or the back. Ingebrigtsen is a great but can be found wanting in a slow or tactical 1500m race from time to time. But end of the day he has more golds and WRs than Kerr.
What are you talking about? Jakob wants a fast 1500m, so he doesn't lose the sprint finish. That's why he does better with a pacer, rather than a tactical race.
I started running in 1976 and have always appreciated the class and civility of distance runners towards one another at the world class level. Now, it seems like these two knuckleheads are intent on reducing the sport to the pugalistic level of boxing or WWE. My message to both of them is simple: GROW UP!
No one even knew the indoor two miles was a thing. No one is running it or train for the 2 miles. So Kerr record is cool, but it would get obliterated if it was a commonly runned distance
When is the last time Josh Kerr won a race with Jakob? Not just beating Jakob but actually winning the race. He yaps his mouth off just to keep his aging name in the loop while Jakob actually shows that he deserves the attention.
Jakob doesn’t have the top speed like Cole Hocker for example, so depending on how a non paced 1500m race pans out, Jakob might be out kicked in the end. However, Kerr, with only one world championship gold, claiming Jakob, with two Olympic, two world championship and six European championship gold medals, doesn’t winning paced races, is kind of ridiculous.
Josh is just pissed Jakob doesn't need a second income from another sponsor because Jakob is making big $$ from Nike and winning a LOT of diamond League (more medals on the global stage, golds specifically) not to mention all those European champion races Kerr never bothers to show up for, or cross country, which actually would be hilarious watching Kerr roll home in 30th place. He needs to ditch brooks and get himself a real sponsor
I guess its the Usain Bolt and (whoever else was at the top based on season, Tyson, Gatlin, Blake, Ryan Bailey, so many) type of vibe. I know back in 2009, 2010s that really fueled a good vibe in the sport - so this is good. Exciting to see this in the middle distances!
Grand Slam Track is a nonsense. It’s totally uncommon now for someone to double up 800/1500. 400/800 and 1500/3000 or 5000 would make sp much more sense. Why do the sprinters get to double both ways (100-200 or 200-400) but milers are stuck going down to a 2-lap sprint? Who really wants to see Arop race a bunch of 1500m runners? Pointless.
Josh was right, Jacob is not a 800 runner. I think his best distance is the 5k. I hope he gets the 1500 and mile WR, but I’m pretty sure he will break the 5k and maybe also the 10k
Props to both of them for keeping middle distance running more entertaining than it has been in years.

Neither of these guys is likeable enough for me to want them to break the historic 1500 world record.

@@XDF745 well you only have to deal with one of them, Kerr cant break it and Ingebrigtsen most likely will at some point.

I genuinely think AI writes their scripts.

Shout out to these 2 for bringing more hype to distance running. Michael Johnson and Donovan Bailey had the world watching a 150 meter race like it was a boxing match. Glad these 2 have the guts to go at it in the age of social media and bring much needed excitement to distance running. Get that 💰 fellas!!!
Nobody cares about a indoor 2 mile
Nobody cares about the 3k or 2k distance
@@abone2pickpeople only care about outdoor track, both of those records (as well as Jakob 2 mile) were outdoor, not to mention that they stood unrivaled for 20+ years by some of the greatest of all time.
I listened to that interview, he was trash talking everyone, including people he never races. I think the rivalry with Jakob is fun but this interview left a bad taste in my mouth. The fact is, Josh is not the best one on the day of the competition because he is not the Olympic gold medalist.
Watch last years indoor meet in Glasgow where he elbows runners out of the way and was never penalized. Thug!
He's not the best on the day of the competition, because he's never there when people are competing. He's hiding out somewhere giving interviews about a race that happened 18 months ago.
I just think Josh Kerr is better suited for shorter distances and Jakob for longer, they meet in the middle at 1500 but above that Jakob is king.
Very click bait video title, please stop doing it man. I watch your videos for the quality and effort you put in, but if I’m not into watching running videos at the time then I’m not going to watch them, it’s that simple. By using click bait titles like this to try and get more views is just scummy

I wonder if Kerr will ever show up to an European Championships (I would like to see him run in one, so I would be nice to be proven wrong), and I wonder if that will ever happen:
Berlin 2018: Kerr wasn't in the top 3 in Britain, so he didn't qualify
2020: Cancelled due to Covid
Munich 2022: Had the chance to compete, and get some redemption from his 5th place in Eugene and 12th place in Birmingha, (Commonwealth games), but chose not to.
Birmingham 2026: Let's see if he shows up
Kerr has also never showed up in the indoor EC.
I could be wrong, but I don't think Jakob can break 1:45 in the 800 m. He's more of a 1500 to 5K runner IMHO.

@dt2165
I have news for you Jacob can’t win in 100/200/400/or 800 because his best distance has always been 5000m . In my estimation he can obliterate those records .
But he is also a great 1500m runner that needs a certain race shape to win .

Nice video though.

Disaster?? Man,this keeps the sport entertaining, love to see it !
Jakob occupies way too much space in Josh's head. I think Josh is completely obsessed with chasing Jakob
You need to STOP with the click bait and misleading hyperbole.
Kerr chasing the cash and Jakob chasing history
Small correction, Marco Arop ran 3'38 not 3'28 on 1500m
Both dudes are similarly impressive, likeable, abrasive, and entertaining. I'm glad they are back on the trash train. Makes USA proud and Cole Hocker look even better, plus the joy of watching athletes stir up drama. Yared and Cole show what actually caring looks like, and 2nd and 4th show what getting high off your own supply does. I love it!
All Jakob needs to do is run the indoor 2 mile and take Josh's only world record.
If you’re the best, you don’t have to talk trash because your performance speaks for you. The only reason to trash talk is to try to get into your opponent’s head so you can beat them. Only when you fear losing do you “need” to trash talk.
I love Josh's playful cheekiness (so very Scottish of him), but there can absolutely be too much of a good thing. Pace your mouth a little, Big Guy!
To Jakobs credit: he does not count his own indoor record! So I think he is consistent.
Josh is really filling out that beard you love to see it.
Love that Kerr was clowning Jakob that he would have a hard time in the 800 when he would never race Jakob in the 5000 because it wouldn't even be close.
It's pretty clear Josh Kerr is jealous of Jakob, which is absurd given that Kerr has won major titles too and is really good.
Josh Kerr has never placed 1st in the Olympics. The most elite race in the world. Jakob has won gold twice.
Jakob living rent free in Kerr's head. This is a one way "rivalry".
i love josh kerr and ingebrigsten for keeping the beef alive and making distance running so electric and intrigueing so many non distance running fans are coming around just because of it and are intrested in distancer running and the lore behind the athletes which is amazing this type of rivalry keeps up and distance running and is going to be right up there next to sprinting in both interest and money sponserships
Kerrs indoor two mile isn’t an official world record, Jakob wasn’t wrong
This is great. It will continue to bring focus to the event.
@@kimaboe I said non-paced races are Ingebrigtsen's weakness.
A paced raced with obviously a pacer is to his advantage.
@trp, what happens if jakob takes josh kerrs WR this year in indoor season, will he have a leg to stand on 😂😂
The only way to get headlines! Kerr just can't get Jacob out of his mouth!
I started running in 1976 and have always appreciated the class and civility of distance runners towards one another at the world class level. Now, it seems like these two knuckleheads are intent on reducing the sport to the pugalistic level of boxing or WWE. My message to both of them is simple: GROW UP!
Cheating Cole Hocker knocks 3 seconds off his PB from nowhere. Jacob and Josh should have their deserved medals.
Kerr really is giving Lyles a run for his money as the least likeable athlete.
3:28 Solo 1500m of Ingebrightsen at the olympic final.
Kerr is so obsessed with getting Jakob’s approval
I mean fair enough Jakob forgot about the indoor two mile world record... I don't think I need to say anything else.
It's brilliant for track.
Jakob ran in Paris coming back from injury
Trash talk is a good thing.
Kerr's body language screams inauthenticity.
Kerr can say what he wants, but if you could only watch one of them but not both, most people would pick Jakob every time.
I really hope Jakob beats Josh’s 2 mile indoor world record this indoor season just to get the fire going into outdoors.
Jakob is quiet and trains consistently.
Kerr is busy talking to the media.
Yet he still beat him twice in the biggest stage when it matters the most 😂
Josh Kerr the Dillon Brooks of athletics.😂
He out here making Jakob not look Narcissistic by comparison.
I'm wondering if they have agreed to take shots at each other to drive / maintain interest in their careers and races.
Pointless.
You can’t help but think Josh Kerr is just jealous that he’s stuck in Jakob’s shadow…
Josh was right, Jacob is not a 800 runner. I think his best distance is the 5k. I hope he gets the 1500 and mile WR, but I’m pretty sure he will break the 5k and maybe also the 10k
7:31 Must be a typo because Arop’s 1500 PB is 3:38.36, though I’m sure he could probably shave a couple seconds off.
