Ingredients For the Scones
1/4 cup granulated sugar
zest from one large orange
3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon baking powder
4 ounces cream cheese, cold
6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cold
2 large eggs
1/3 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon orange extract
For the Orange Glaze
2 cups powdered sugar
4 tablespoons orange juice
1 teaspoon orange extract
orange zest of one large orange
Preheat oven to 425°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium mixing bowl add sugar and orange zest. Rub together with your fingers until fragrant.
Add to the flour, salt and baking powder. Whisk together with sugar mixture.
Place the cold cream cheese, butter and eggs into the bowl of a food processor (I used a 14 cup processor), add dry ingredients.
Pulse a couple times or until combined.
Pour in the milk, vanilla and orange extracts. Pulse to mix.
Remove dough from processor on a lightly floured surface.
Divide the dough in 2 equal pieces.
Form each piece into a 6-inch disk.
Use a sharp knife to cut each disk into triangles or roll into round biscuit shapes.
Place on prepared baking sheet. Turn oven down to 400° and bake for 15 minuets or until golden.
Lay a piece of wax paper under a wire cooling rack.
Move baked scones to the wire cooling rack. Spoon or dip orange glaze over scones.
For the Orange Glaze:
In a medium bowl add the sugar, orange juice, orange extract and orange zest.
Whisk until smooth.

Thank you so much Mary for that book revue. I saw Alex and his husband on a Homeworthy tour of their New York apartment. It was a jewel of a home as you can imagine. He set a table from a cabinet of linens that exploded with every color, shape and design of place mats. Drawers overflowed with different sets of cutlery. The shelves were full of glasses both new and antique and within minutes he had a setting so breathtaking I would hate to put food on it for fear of messing it up. Good evening Mary. It is rather late as I am leaving this comment but I didn't want to forget to tell you that you have a most wonderful channel. I not only find it so wonderfully put together but your narration is so on point. I hang on every word. Not only are the books you review so interesting and breathtaking with all the gorgeous photos but I am learning something new each time and I greatly appreciate that. Scones are one of my most favorite treats to eat. As a matter of fact, I had a cranberry scone this morning with a cup of tea. It is not my usual breakfast but I made an exception. Oh, I so do enjoy a good scone and I am looking forward to trying your recipe.

Oh Mary, it was MAGICAL! Markham Square is directly off King's Road. An easy walk to Buckingham Palace, Harrods, high tea hotels; extra special: we went to St Paul's on Christmas Eve, while it was snowing, which is a rarity. What a fantastic book! Those rooms are exquisite... and truly inspirational for anyone interested in "updated" traditional design. Thanks for sharing it with us, Mary. I am especially impressed with how the book highlights rooms that are completely infused with rich, saturated color palettes. Alex is a classical designer and a leader in the American design arena. What a great book he has published ! Thank you for sharing it with us. Lighting is always a conundrum for me. I will have to order some of the ones you have suggested. I am so glad your orange scones turned out well and you plan on having them for Thanksgiving morning. We are blessed to have orange trees here and I go out and pick a few off the tree when I need an orange for cooking or baking. (I like using them with sweet potatoes and cinnamon). I usually pair the orange scones with a fruit compote and omelets. They seem to disappear as fast as I put them out! Sending Happy Thanksgiving greetings to you and yours dear one!

Yes, I feel very lucky living here in England. I have a little suggestion for videos you may like to watch, search for Delia Smith's Classic Christmas. There are three videos. She lives in a cottage in Suffolk, England and is cooking all things Christmas. Just make sure you have eaten before watching!! An interesting book, I've not heard of this author. I have heard of Harry Slatkin and his wife Laura though and bought quite a few of Mr Slatkin's candles and candle holders but not Laura's perfumes.
