  • The weekend before was cold and cloudy so I didn’t go out. This Saturday I was suffering from Chron’s so I only went out for a couple hours before heading home to rest. But it was a busy couple of hours. We start with a CSX light engine move as a flock of birds repeatedly flies around the drone. Then we catch Amtrak 19 with what will soon be a rare occurrence, two P42’s and no Siemens locomotive. Just as that’s passing we catch the morning transfer train with NS units coming out of the CSX yard and across the diamonds heading back to home track. It stops at the signal. Then we see an empty BNSF coal train heading west. Then we see a CSX ethanol train moving at good speed towards the diamonds. But the tracks are blocked ahead by the transfer train. For a time it looks like they aren’t going to stop in time. The brakes come on at the last moment making a loud screech. Did they intend to stop there or was this a close one? This could have been a very exciting video indeed! As they tie down the train a southbound NS freight passes and another light engine set waits on CSX tracks behind the transfer train. And then a westbound NS stack train passes with another right beside it. Very busy for sure. Then the transfer train finally is clear to move followed by the light engines.
