Not really. I've seen plenty of Chinese people get mistaken for Koreans in Seoul. Just like I've seen Koreans get mistaken for locals in hong kong. Or Japanese people get mistaken for being Chinese. And even filiino's being mistaken for Chinese or Vietnamese. I even have an Indian friend who people think is Chinese.

It's actually very easy to tell a Singaporean from their accent. Fitri's accent has been Americanized a bit, but for those folks who don't do that you can literally tell the moment they open their mouth.
Idk what a singaporian accent sounds like, but the fact that it’s such a miniscule country makes it super hard for a foreigner to distinguish from a Malaysian and a Singaporian unless they’ve spent time in the country

I don't know, he said it as well but naturally there is in fact no way how you could say which country a person is from/ as wich part of the nationality they would feel like...
I correctly guessed the Korean, Japanese, and Chinese girl. I am not very familiar with Thai and Singaporean people, so I got both of those wrong.

I self doubted a lot but my first instinct on Korean and Japanese were cothat. And kinda sorta on the Chinese one - the Korean girl just has that fashion style that's common there apparently, that other videos on this channel have commented on, and something about the face suggested Korean as well though heck of I consciously know what what was. (For all I know I saw her in another video and subconsciously recalled it who knows)
Based on her reaction to him repeatedly saying Korean, I knew #3 was anything but lol. And my first instinct was "MAYBE chinese?? Maybe???" But then I over thought and wondered if it could be something like Phillipines since to me the Phillipines are so diverse (...largely for unfortunately colonialism reasons) that even though there is a "standard" Filipina range of looks in my head, I know there are people, especially celebrities, who are lighter skinned with a variety of facial features, who I'd easily mistake for other ethnicity, so that was my back up guess and I was seriously on the fence for it. The fashion... the neutral colors and clean professional look make mevsee why hevkept gravitating to Korean, but I knew there had been another video (possibly with the same girl??) Where a Chinese girl had said she just likes to dress like that. So I knew Not Korean, I thought MAYBE Chinese from accent but wasn't sure.
Japanese I felt the closest to confident and what solidified that was when she said she was a RUclipsr- her whole unique style, especially the hair, suddenly made sense if she was a Japanese RUclipsr given some of the younger ones I've seen on here. Theres also other subcultures for fashions like that in Japan too.. buy the RUclipsrs... They do interesting and sometimes multicolored things with their hair. So it just made sense.
Was COMPLETELY off on the last 2 though 😂 on #4 I started out from "India, Malaysia or Indonesia maybe?" To ruling out India from among other things the accent, but I ended up saying "idk man, but she's definitely not Chinese, Japanese or Korean, that's all I know." Singapore was not at any point in my mind lmao.
The last one I had nowhere close. No idea. I gave up lol.
I think guessing Europeans who be hard but not any harder than this was. People really do vary so much that it's hard to go by looks alone, and honestly the verbal comments and accents helped more. A lesson in how fallible our own eyes are lol.

I guess Indonesia/Malaysia first. Southeast Asian appearance overlap each other, but Fitri’s appearance is very much more common in Malaysia and Indonesia. Both countries are very diversed, some look Philipino, some look Thai, some look Chinese, some look Indians, etc. depends on region. The Indonesian and Malay that look more similar to Philipinos are from Borneo and Sulawesi.

It's easy for me to guess Chinese girl Because of her appearance and her style, and also easy to guess Japanese girl for her hair style and clothing.
Thai girls and ladies look mixed too. There were European settlers/ merchants / military personnel in ..lets say Tudor English times in Thailand. Some of us also got Chinese/ Indian /Arabian blood or heritage as well. Thailand in the past (and now) was a melting pot really.

No worries, I’m French who was born and raised in Paris and Vietnamese descent. I could guess only the Japanese (because of her accent) and the Chinese girl (it was just luck), I was completely wrong with the other ones so no worries really if you or other westerners make mistake, but since I’m Asian descent maybe I should start worrying about me 😅 🤷🏻♂

Chinese are far diversified, people from north look similar to JAPAN and korea, south looks like vietnam and thai, east looks like JP or KR, west looks like middle asian ...... I can easily differntiate KR JP AND CN... but have trouble in South east aisa, they do look the same ....
I do understand why Alex thought that Fitri was Indonesian or Filipino. And maybe Fitri is indeed a Malay-Singaporean, and her face is clearly marked by Southeast Asians. Tan Skin/little black, the people more shorts than any asians countries, and have a little big eyes than other Asian People.

She does Not look Thai at all. I have been to Thailand, they look more like the girl in the 4th, and the national average women hight is 4’10”. Male average 5’3”. So I worked 2 jobs , 5 yrs living alone I went thru 15 roommates(2-8 month rent ) I got along with ppl. I have NO plastic surgery , natrually Big eyes , small nose/mouth/ small chin/ straight nose , long eye lashes (5-7% Chinese have long lashes ) long limbs , slim curvy .

I think there’s probably 7 overall looks for oriental asian groups. North East Asian, East Asian, continental southeast Asian and Islander southeast Asian, Himalayan, north Asian, central Asian. Anywhere where these areas meet you’re going to have blended looks.

@@rho992 I usually can guess, not specific countries but there are definitely regional looks. There are regions that cluster closer together such as northeast/east Asia and continental/islander Southeast Asia. I may mistake a Malaysian for a Thai but I rarely mistake them for Koreans. With that being said, there is a lot of Chinese immigrants in Southeast Asia and a lot of minorities in southwestern China, so it’s not surprising to find people with mixed looks.
Aah really tho, i'm Indonesian livin in the US and alot of white people say i don't look asian because i doesn't fit their stereotype about being asian cause i have darker skin and bigger eyes
@@newbabies923 that’s the southeast Asian look. When people say Asian they often assume East Asian. Although some southeast Asian can look more east Asian due to Chinese immigration, they usually are darker and have bigger eyes, stature is also a bit smaller.
