Back in 2010 I got the mortal kombat trilogy package containing this masterpiece, Armageddon and the EPIC shaolin monks. It was great while it lasted, that time playing these games. There’d be times I would watch the opening of DECEPTION. It was just epic
Deception and Armageddon definitely two of the best intros ever .
I seriously think I have watched each of those two intros and actually even DA’s even though it’s not quite as good as those two’s at least 1000x each. The amount of times I would boot up the game and just decide to let the intro play while doing Shujinko’s VoiceOver is just insane and still memorize every single word. Absolutely love those games and the storytelling in deception was absolutely next level with the dragon King’s return the way it was set up in the previous game and the story of the Kamidogus and One Being etc. Just led you to believe that he would be the next big bad in Armageddon although that story was relatively weak in comparison unfortunately in favor of bringing back all the characters and having an excuse for it instead of just following the story. I still wish Armageddon was another deception like game with 30 characters really well done and continuing the storyline from DA and deception possibly introducing some sort of vessel of the one being or Onaga infused with the power of the one being because obviously we can’t have him be the boss himself as that would be the end of all reality
I know we like to act like this story just started falling apart starting in MKX or MK11 or even MK1 depending on who you ask but really the story started falling apart starting in Armageddon and it was absolutely beautiful and flawless up to deception. Afterwards, they couldn’t even keep up with their own continuity from Armageddon to MK versus DC even MK9 had a lot of flaws even though it was just a retailing but all the zombification of the characters was extremely stupid and MKX

MKD was a major broken bug fest with infinites, free throws, OTG combos, no damage scaling and never fully got fixed because the online infrastructure was not there to patch it. That's when you called something broken unlike now when the term "Broken" is too loosely used when it's not broken.

Mortal Kombat Deception has been my personal favorite MK of all time aside MK:SM and MKT
I was so hyped for when this came out. In fact, I actually bought it again a few months ago, for my ps vita on the PS store. The psp unchained version lol

Mortal Kombat Deception was the first game to have a story mode.
Deadly Alliance was the first one I ever played, but Deception was the first one I ever owned. What a deliciously evil vibe this game had, back when MK's overall story had some consequence to it.
Deception was a fantastic game made with heart. I loved it.

Really cool to see that Deception Guide. I've got a Deadly Alliance Brady Guide very similar to that one. I miss old relics like that, like a physical game manual you can actually hold. Modern "Game Manuals" are laughable.

Such a great introduction! Watched it every time I played the game. Even the teaser trailer was the most hyped I've been for an mk game. Still have my original game, case and booklet.

I remember being so hyped for deception. I had it pre ordered for ps2 and it was the kollectors edition. It was a steelbook case and it came with a bonus disk that had one of the classic MKs playable. Each week if i went to the mall I’d go into EB games and put 5 or 6 bucks down. Eventually I had it paid off and picked it up on release. It was awesome.
Best MK game of all time in my opinion, and if you don’t agree, hopefully we can atleast agree on it being the best in the franchise LORE wise, this game gave us sooo much into the lore, still hasn’t been beaten.
And oh my lord that Konquest mode, absolute masterpiece, I don’t care how hutch of a hassle it can be, just the vibe & aesthetic is more than enough to fulfill me lol. Nostalgia overload.
There was a Tanya fight in konquest mode that that made my aunt take my game for a month due to me raging
best mk game, the amount of hours of fun it gave me (and still gives) is undescribable. Absolutely amazing

This was my first MK ever. The MK series is still my favorite fighting game series ever. There is nothing like it.
The intros from Deadly Alliance, Deception, and Armageddon are better than anything that happens in either of Mortal Kombat 1's story modes.
Not my first MK game but one of the best ones for sure. As for finding out about this game, it was back in the days when I still had Sega Mega Drive but my brother decided to start buying these magazines, or journals, whatever you prefer to call them, and from them I found out about MK Deadly Alliance and Deception, along with Shaolin Monks. And I played this game a lot later via emulation, but since PS2 emulator back then didn't worked for me well, I used Dolphin emulator, which is Game Cube and Wii emulator, and I played this game via that emulator. And it turned out that Game Cube version has few more extra characters, which was cool. But, as I found out later, that was not the ultimate version of MK Deception. The ultimate version thou was on PSP, which is MK Unchained. And after I got my hands on PSP emulator, the very first game that I tried was MK Unchained, and despite downgraded visuals, the game itself was even more fun, because of more extra characters. So yeah, I understand why people called this game one of the best 3D games in the series. But the only thing that I don't like about this game is that, The Konquest mode is just a training mode, where you are learning stuff, but with cutscenes and a bit flat but interesting world to explore. Outside of that this game is cool.

My all time favorite mk game this helped me through highschool I had this on the PSP and would play it all the time on the way home and I had this on the Xbox at the time and 😂😂 oh I wish they would port this to the switch so badly

Seems MK1 is heading in the direction of Onaga with Liu Kang's beast version of him now being free and the dialogue where Liu and Geras acknowledge Titan Onaga as the next timeline threat. In-game after a win sometimes Havik even says "Deception is now!". No way all of this is just teasing.

I always thought it was hilarious that the girls' boobs would stretch past their heads when they fell of the stages, Nvm, I don't know anymore...I just looked it up. maybe my version was bugged. But a remember their boobs freaking out & it was hilarious as a kid.
this is the best 3D era MK game. deception is even better when u see the lazy downgrade that was MK armageddeon. zero fatalities, god of war ripoff storyline, bad create a character, carbon copy clone roster, downgraded visuals, **deadly alliance is actually the best looking one as limited as it is**. terrible villain in Blaze. MK Deception was even fun online for those who actually played it. alot of the new characters i thought were actually badass. hotaru has alot of potential to be great. Kira too.

Just because of all the content that was deleted or unfinished because of time restraints. Konquest & roster would've been way bigger.

I've gotta say, this is more nostalgia driven love for the oldies. The music is good of course, but the 3d gameplay isn't awesome. Having a weapon be a fighting style is dumb. All the little side game modes are things you play once and never touch again because they're just boring... Now obviously the konquest mode is where this game shines and is arguably the only real positive of the game, along with the actual story.
That all being said, it is still better than MK1. lmao.
