Before I watched this video, I was lost, didn’t know how to even hold a radio. I was a mess. But with the help of these gentleman, I’ve found a new life and confidence. Thank you. ( your friendly neighborhood Strip club doorman)
Great job. I'm a Ham operater & in public safety for over 30 years. This the BEST video on radio etiquette that I've ever watched. ALL THE STUFF YOU GUYS WENT OVER ARE TRUE AND I'VE HEARD ON THE RADIO. THANKS 👍
Radio is pretty much my life. I studied radio engineering in college, radio communication in the military (signal corps), and continue absorbing training materials from public safety orgs and the ARRL (I'm also a ham). Every organization has its own 2-way radio conventions and procedures. Just hearing stuff said by amateur radio operators doesn't affirm a particular practice is sound, and in fact I've heard many do it wrong. That said, there are some good general communication tips that are covered well in this video.
One quick note on the difference between “roger” and “copy”; “roger” is used to confirm that you understood an instruction that requires some kind of action on your part, while “copy” is used to confirm that you heard/understood a piece of information.
I had to watch a 1999 video on Radio Etiquette required by the company I'm hired with. Just saw this video and it was way better and held my attention.
This is great!! However, the no response thing is a major issue. Unless you are psychic you don't know that your co-worker is busy. Instead, you should call, wait a few minutes, call again and the person on the other end should respond with "stand by" or "be advised, I'm assisting a guest" as soon as they have the chance. If you're on the phone with someone or assisting someone find a moment to excuse yourself for just 1 second and say "stand by" or "I'm assisting a guest right now" so the person making the call knows you can hear them. Otherwise it's just rude
I work with an idiot and your video was the perfect closure to a corrective action that was assigned to me because someone wished a coworker Happy Birthday. Some industries are without joy!
That’s a Charlie, big buddy! You’re 5X5: coming in tree top tall. You’ve got some fire in your wire. Roger, Wilco: I’m on the side reading the mail. Out.
Hi Jay a. I just want to ask permission to you that I will edit your video and make subtitle for our own language so that my colleagues that do not understand English could briefly understand this. Your video is great and very useful to us. I hope I can receive confirmation to your soon. Thanks Jay a! ^_^ (y)

Thanx!!
Get your Ham license, then give a video on radio etiquette.
Whats a radio?
Copy, 10-4
Wtf is this
How about fundamental to shut the frigging music off when you make a video about radio and voices over comunication
remove music. can't hear shit
CypressStoned you might be playing on mono and not stereo
Nah I might be playing on a simulated 7.1 surround sound. I'm saying your music levels are too high. Also distracting.
...eesh. could of skipped the attempt at humor
Jim Forgrave show me a better radio etiquette video with no humor and I'll use it.
I know you're tooooo coool, but lose the music
bum blasters
