The way he gets out of close counter situations was just on another level. He could also dribble at full speed while having control of the ball. He's definitely the most complete striker ever, he had everything... Speed, power, accuracy, acceleration and could score with both legs. He was defenders worst nightmare, what a player.

I still remember whenever he got the ball he used to go straight towards the goal like these defenders were irrelevant for him. Greatest footballer I have ever seen. I think if we forget the stats and numbers and just consider skill and talent then R9 is even better than Pele and Maradona. I miss watching him play.
Injury killed his career, 90s Ronaldo was beyond this world, i grew up watching him play, that`s why i kinda like messi as i see some part of Nazario on him such as not that easy to fall, fast drible, very straight forward to the heard of defense, and so so clinical in front of the goal.
@LM 10💙 true, but R9 was just phenomenon (like his nickname), he`s power, dribbling, pace, and finishing (right, left, heading) just a complete power forward. he inflicted terror on team`s defense, you know how fucked Italian's team defense on 90s, he dribbled with so much confidence with no hesitation. Messi is well a la pulga, agile, visionary, clinical and genius, but i don`t see such power from him, but that`s because he`s posture, and don`t get me wrong he probably the best of all time, i just have my preference and a soft spot for Nazario. Basten was great but i couldn't see him on the level of Nazario, he was on 80s Gold Generation Milan team (gullit, rijkard, baresi, anceloti etc) with Sacchi as the coach. Nazario on Barcelona and Inter was like Maradona on Napoli, except Maradona the only player i know so far could single handedly carry a team to League title (man that guy was crazy)
Pele and Maradona had better first touch and overall ball control, certainly better passing, then R9. R9 was amazingly agile for his size, but there also, the other two are a bit more agile, as we would expect from shorter super-athletes.

@@LorenzoF7 From an early age, I had the chance to see great players live on the stadium like Dragan Dzajic, Johnny Rep, Platini, Cruyff, Gullit, Van Basten, Romario, Neymar, Henry, Cantonna, Baggio, Zidane, Benzema, Messi, Mbappe among others but none moved and impressed me like Ronaldo and, before seeing him, I had always kept my preference since the age of 12 for the magnificent style and skills of Dzajic that I I had the chance to see a whole season played. Ronaldo remains the most inspiring of all, without a doubt!

He can teleport short distances. That's how he appears to phenomenally run past multiple opponents with the ball. He is phenomenal.
What excited and makes Ronaldo different is not how he dribbles, but where he dribbles. Most dribblers dribble wide, trying to get around the defence. Ronaldo heads straight towards goal where there is most congestion and dribbles and powers his way through them.

Messi and CR7 may have more Balons but this guy played in an era where there was much more competition.
In La Liga, when Ronaldo played there were at least several teams contending for the title. Not just Real or Barca. In Ronaldo's time there was Valencia, Atletico Madrid, Deportivo , Mallorca, Celta Vigo and the always hard Bilbao. In his time in Real Valencia played in 2 Champion's league finals. They were that strong.
Serie A in the late 90s and early 2000 was the most defensive league in the world. Matches end up on average with 0-2 goals. Not like today blowouts of 5-0 etc. That wasnt happening especially not in derbys. Also while he played for Inter, the teams like Juventus and Milan, Lazio and Roma were insanely tough teams. We are talking Maldini's MIlan, Del Piero's Juventus and Bufon in his prime, Lazio had Vieri and Nesta and Roma had Toti and Canavaro.
All due respect to CR7 and Messi but La Liga was super easy compared to the Seie A and La Liga in which Ronaldo played.
Today Real and Barca are packed while the othee teams are nowhere near.

People forget he had 3 serious knees injuries that would have kept mere mortals out of the game. He was so good he got past that. Speed, Power, incredible skill moves and calm on the ball. So many players fell trying to stop him. He played against the best defenders in the world also. it was not a time like Barcelona and Real Madrid or Bayern and Dortmund. he played in leagues were teams had some of the best defenders in the world. He was unpredictable, could beat 7-8 players, long short hits. Wow my fav player ever

Ronaldo is the player who I miss watching the most. It was such a pleasure to watch his games. One of the things that amazed me the most was the speed he used to receive the ball much ahead of the defenders. He always looked in offside position and he always dibbled the goalkeeper. That was his thing.

@Klodian Biba Can you explain to me what makes Ronaldo Nazario so special? Everyone says he’s the best but personally I don’t see what makes him outstanding. I always felt he was an ordinary striker who’s reputation became way overblown after scoring in the 1998 Champions League final against Lazio as well as the 2002 World Cup. From the games I saw, he’s mostly a target man who missed a lot of easy sitters. Not really impressive at all.

@Klodian Biba I saw Ronaldo play during his days with AC Milan and Corinthians, he didn’t impress me at all. I honestly don’t believe he deserves to regarded as a legendary soccer player. In fact I wouldn’t even rank him in my top 100 all time list. He was overweight, slow & had no dribbling skills. I really don’t understand why he got so much hype as a once in a generation superstar. Thierry Henry was far better than him honestly.
