It's a privilege to have them still playing and still sounding so good. I still can't quite believe how lucky we are.
I thought for sure they were done with after the breakup. Cheeky buggers reunited in secret.
this is shit compare with the original line up...
They sound better live now than they used to 😆
AND DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THOSE ATDI PERFORMANCES
so thankful to be alive at the same time
Puro chuco 🔥🔥🔥
FINALLY SOME NEW PRO-SHOT MARS VOLTA!!!! Been expecting it since the reunion.
It's about time! :D
Their new drummer is insane!!
No where near as good as Jon or Thomas but your enthusiasm is appreciated.
@jarg7 What did you do to you Dude??? Like damnnn! Everywhere you are just Hating! Why aren't you happy the Greatest band ever is back?
@@jarg7Mars Volta fans when a drummer that’s not John Theodore doesn’t sound like John Theodore: 😮
@@jarg7 Damn they can't still be good? No one was comparing. One does not simply walk into The Mars Volta without being insane is what's being said.
Her mental health is really none of our business, but her drumming sounds great here.
That Drunkship jam??? Holy shit
And Cicatriz, it felt like old volta. Chef's kiss
havent watached the cicatriz jam in this video yet but my god when i saw them live it was the best part
Great version of L'Via, too. Best performance of Graveyard Love I've seen. Widow was also awesome. Great set overall!
The jam in drunkship, I could be wrong, but they only played that specific jam in an off tour concert in 2005 Santa Barbara bowl. I was at the show and was blown away by it. Especially since they played the lead with a flute. Look the concert up and you can hear. I have been searching for other shows where they played that beautiful part, they finally brought it back. I love it 😍
I ate a heavy lsd gummy to watch them live at that Tour, and those 2 pieces where the most colorful fractals in my visual experience. Insane. 🎉
The hiatus did Cedric a lot of good to get his voice back. He sounds amazing again.
One of my top 5 vocalists ever.
@@davidzurutuza2673 He investigado de nuevo.
yeah he's singing parts of Roulette Dares that he hasn't sung since their first tour (2004ish)!! He struggled hard around 2009-10.
The sign language interpreter is gonna have fun with those lyrics !!!!😅
TMV FOREVER BABY !!!! ♥️ 🇵🇷 🇲🇽 🇺🇸
Jajaja one more fan😂
how many deaf folks go to rock concerts? I ask out of complete ignorance as to what the answer might be.
Damn Cedric is actually hitting the notes and Omar is playing mostly in tune and on the beat.
it IS autotune wey
Autotune de dónde wey? Jajajajj escucha bien @@pepogaspar
@@Valky_Kovalenk0Jajaja no sabes ni traducir bien !
@@evermedel9566 En que se equivocó?
JESUS christ, this is the best they've sounded ever in a pro shot. This made drop some tears man
false . come on bro stop being prisoner of the moment. it's great but pridgen and theodore was better . stop it.
@@danielgray8053 Agreed, Pridgen was not my cup of tea, Jon is top 5 rock drummers of his generation for me, both their performance was undeniably in another tier.
I miss Ikey too, the keys are not bad here, but it's not Ikey...
UMMMMM Excuse me sir, there is no Jon Theodore...
@@danielgray8053 you're a prisoner of nostalgia
To me, this drummer just doesn’t have that 🔥 … so they sound great? Oh hell yea
It's pretty impressive to hear Cedric sing these songs, better than ever. Band is solid as well.
And not even just better, but by miles and miles and
mans quit weed and gave his voice a second life.
Dude these musicians are super tight and talented. The original lineup was raw and wild (which was awesome) but they are playing so clean and Cedric is killing it for a dude in his mid forties! ❤❤❤❤
This woman is as close as you get to Jon Theodore TMV
@@Astral_WaveIts not True
In 2005 he was in super shape
But, now he is close to that times
My jaw is still on the floor. This is truly brilliant musicianship from every single person on stage.
Wow.. great band.. long live The Mars Volta 💯
i'm the guy smiling in the back at the start of the video 😁✌
this concert was incredible, first time i saw mars volta live (i thought i'd never get to see them)
one of the best shows that i ever attended, love this dudes
Why such a small crowd? Was the whole festival this sad for the artists?
@@xeicv this festival was VERY expensive and the crowd was there to see pop artists ( the line-up was flume, HAIM, forence+the machine and other bands).
Honestly, mars volta was kinda lost in this festival, and the same festival will happen this next weekend in São Paulo, another city that is much more common to have concerts of alternative bands (and usually people from all across the country go to são paulo to see concerts)
So my guess is that in the next weekend more people will be there to see mars volta
@@xeicv also, i think that if the concert was just them outside a festival, the crowd would be much bigger
I say that because the last At the Drive In concert in Rio was packed with people, so i guess it would be the same for Volta
@@IgorMurras Thanks! I thought it might be the price... That place looked expensive, at least from the night aerial shots.
@@xeicv i can assure you, the prices were very out of reach for most of people
One of the best rock guitarists all time
Tremendo.
Best I’ve heard Cedric sound in a long time. Absolute beast.
Loving new drummer too!
Who IS the drummer in this video? Google states Thomas Pridgen is touring with them in Europe, but That isn't him I don't believe. Great percussionists!!
@@soreal597 it's Linda-Philomène Tsoungui
@@alessandrocabboi I've just seen her called "Philo".... I didn't actually know her full name, thanks :)
Blown away, what a rebirth
Saw them live a couple weeks ago in Chile. Tbh I had low expectations, but I was so pleasently surprised. The band obviously sounded great, but Cedric did as well. Obviously he can't sing those crazy parts like he did in his 20s, but I think he has a very mature and strategic approach to his new voice that made the show very memorable. Best concert of the year so far!!
Watch any footage from after 2005. He could never sing the parts properly.
I'm surprised to see how my favorite band reuniting is ever such a world phenomenon. I was lucky to watch them Wednesday in Mexico City and what an amazing gig; thanks for this amazing video! Obrigado!
When I see the bands I love still being great but getting older, it is very emotional.
But how can the time be so slow and so fast?
❤
Thats part of the simulation.
I feel that way about suede
I' ve just cried has a baby 20 min ago...
I feel the same way I recently saw them at ACL festival in Austin and it was such a strange new feeling but in a good good way, it kind felt like a big family reunion
That breakdown during Drunkship of Lanterns tho! So moving and inspiring! I dare you to not get somewhat emotional during that part. Those moments when you feel like you're floating were ALWAYS my favorite parts of their live shows. I've been fortunate enough to have seen them live 14 times these last 20 years.
What a privilegie!!!! Bravo!!!
How do they always get the best drummers alive?
dam, i thought this sucked, i don't think she fits in the band at all, just seemed kinda flat, the other female drummer they had in the IG video was way better
@ScruffyLeKing I agree. Too bad Jon Theodore couldn't play with them
@@ScruffyLeKing I feel like I'm watching her catch the beat all over the place in this video, but I could definitely be wrong. She grooves for sure!
@@ScruffyLeKingher rolls are very powerful and solid. I wanted to hate her at first but damn, sista has some mad chops and fits the vibe well
She hits like a girl
28:53 leo's awesome keyboard flourish it's awesome to hear that kind of playing in the Volta
its giving chick corea with miles davis in 1969
Somewhere Ikey has a big big smile on his face.
Confesa Leooooo
He stole the show. What a piano player ,OMG
His little L'Via groove @18:30 too...
For those that loved the Drunkship Jam. That I know of they only played that specific melody in the jam once before in Santa Barbara’05 at an off tour stand alone show. I was there and since then been waiting for them to bring that little tune back. They finally did this year, and I hope they make a recorded song out of it. ruclips.net/user/clipUgkxzvjCLGj7GS6SZccI1HCOCBzJBEmMcNom
That Santa Barbra show was their best show ever and this is number 2 next to it
@@ETTP.Sit was unreal and wish it was professionally recorded. And yes this one is fantastic as well
I was there too. 18 years young, fucking amazing
@@HailGrindKing Cedric was in God mode that show.
Does it get better than this? Got lucky enough to see them twice this tour and both were holy everyone's experiences. Love this band
Caos, tranquilidad, euforia, normalidad, incertidumbre, etc.
They really sound better than ever
it's great but you're being prisoner of the moment. the band was better with pridgen and juan on bass. and of course theodore was their best drummer
@@danielgray8053sometimes people have different opinions to you and that’s okay
@@danielgray8053 You're prisoner of nostalgia
💥
@@danielgray8053couldn't agree more
Holy shit the drunkship jam is similar to the ones they did in late 2005 early 2006
Still send my body into shivers. Incredible.
Damn, Cedric sounds great!
BTW, pretty awesome that this just happens to come up in my feed -- today, of all days, with Danny Masterson being convicted.
oh my god that guitarrist is insane, cedric!!! everyone in this band!!
Pro shot TMV hell ye.
I really want to cry, I never expected to watch a new live version from them
bloody hell, Philo is a MONSTER isn't she??? They always manage to dig up these amazing drummers!
Thank you Mars Volta for keeping alive real music produced by real humans.
Lots of effects on that vocal though.
Weirdly, bands like TWDY aren't trackin much attention now. So much post and prog from 00s has been such a driver for the music - nothing **ever** compares.
Wait till you see the effects used on guitar @@blackbeansmatter1280 🙄
@@blackbeansmatter1280 Not at all times, but he does use it occasionally for "effect"!
Regresaron y regresaron bien GRACIAS THE MARS VOLTA … hiciste muy feliz a MUCHOS GRACIAS !!!
New drummer out of this universe. Amazing
No, what?? your drunk
It's brave and original of her to put her own stamp and her own flavor on these songs instead of what a lot of drummers would do which is just rehash and copy the same old parts that someone else already came up with before
@@davidterhune8277 Yeah, but that does NOT make her out of this universe
This band is built different. I haven't delved into their music much, but it's amazing for them to be able to keep outputting such chaotic, challenging stuff for this long.
Yo, can I get a copy of your source video?
Hey, it's you, thanks for all the uploads
Hell yeah, good to see you here
Wow) I know you🙏🥹
The legend itself
Finally a proshot! Somebody grab this b4 it's taken down
Sadly a terrible festival/venue/crowd attendance.
@@xeicvwhat you mean?
@@xeicvwhat you mean?
Love that they found people to play with that respect their music and only want to augment it, not use it to outshine eachother. They are tight as hell here and its amazing.
So much synth love it
Ikey!! I wish he was still here. RIP :( This new key player is good, I dug some of the synth stuff. But Ikey definitely had his own sound that can't be replicated. Still my favorite band ever!
Thanks for this pro shot and nice audio ❤❤❤
YESSSS THANK YOU
Its actually insane how much better cedric sounds than he did in the late 00's
Because he isn't constantly jumping around and running around the stage like he used to. He's allowing himself to breathe this time around so he's hitting all the notes and it sounds incredible.
@JanoAsensio Cedric isn't a rapper or a pop singer and he definitely isn't using autotune, lol. That shit is for mainstream pop trash.
@@psychedelicsanctuary. That and I think he has a much better idea on what he can pull off live and what he can't now than he did before. But to me, there really was a charm there (in the past) when he was all over the place and wasn't really aware of it either. I love that trainwreck feel, never knowing what was gonna hit next, it suited Mars Volta's vibe in their heyday. Keep in mind that this is indeed a tame version of what Mars Volta was, they are nowhere near as hectic or loud, which isn't wholly unexpected given the nature of the last 2 albums.
@cinemaspire7258 no shit, really? That's common knowledge that Cedric uses filters to make his voice all weird and trippy but he doesn't use autotune and that's an undeniable fact. Thanks though.
@lecturehc I think Cedric brought that crazy stage energy with him from ATDRI to The Mars Volta and just couldn't let it go but they were two different bands and didn't require the same energy.
The Mars Volta are a Progressive Rock band ,not Emo Punk and finally Cedric has become comfortable in that mode.
Muchas gracias por subir este video ❤️🔥

proshot Volta is really what I needed in my day. Thanks!
Seeing em at red rocks next month. Beyond excited after seeing this performance

The still sound amazing.
This performance really reaches me! Thanks! TMV is my best band of all time!!!
I saw them in Florida a week earlier, and it.. was.. amazing.
I'm really enjoying what the keyboardist is bringing to these songs. Some really amazing sound choice and playing!
AGREED I'm really loving the new keyboard arrangements, the keyboard player is doing a kick ass job making these 20 year old songs sound fresh as hell
TMV has had 3 absolutely fire-ass drummers each unique in their own right
more than that...and they played with Zach Hill on the Cryptomnesia album
Very courageous sign language translator on the screens 💪 mad respect
i feel proud of the boys. when i saw them earlier this year they just had such a nice energy to them. they are kind of at their best in terms of a mature musicality. It's beautiful to see
Awesome concert! Thanks Mars Volta!!
such a beautiful and sexy audience! ones of the best sounding live performances ive seen/heard since trhe reunion and am so excited to see them this fall!
