My first Bowie purchase at the age of 10 back in '73. The mix is a little cluttered, a bit compressed, the vocals are low in the mix, just really odd. Can't think of another album that sounds anything like it. Later the same year Pinups was released & the audio, not to mention the musicianship & energy was off the charts; full of dynamics! Just an amazing album on all fronts & perhaps would benefit most and be more worthy of a half speed re-master.
I love watching your videos and particularly the sofa based ones with super fan. Once again, super fan steals the show as she goes from time to time. I am very picky about David Bowie, and have never quite got much of his output after hunky-dory, and before the Berlin trilogy. but this didn’t stop me watching as ever. My absolute favourite is hunky-dory and both the 2015 remaster and the recent divine symmetry release. I can certainly recommend most highly.
Fun review! I had purchased the 2016 version of Aladdin Sane and found it sonically lacking, so I was excited when this half-speed master copy was announced for the (April 19) 50th Anniversary. I get mine in two days, on Saturday, so your review came at a perfect time. I agree, Mike Garson's piano is a great addition to Bowie's Spiders band for this record. I've had so much enjoyable listening time with all of the new Bowie catalog releases, and this adds to that. A Lad Insane 😊 indeed!
I’m a multichannel surround enthusiast who has moved away from VINYL - wish they had also released a digital 50th version in Stereo or preferably multichannel on SACD/Blu-ray/DVD-a …still hoping 🤞🙏🎸🎶👍😎
These bowie vinyl reissues would look so much better with the original orange RCA VICTOR label faithfully replicated in my opinion.. Like the elvis Presley reissues thay have the orange RCA VICTOR label faithfully replicated Even though they are sony legacy . Great to see the bowie vinyl catalogue getting the half speed master treatment. 👍
Great Bowie Review Video ! Aladdin Sane could have been better if The Jean Genie had been the single version on the Album not an alternative take of the song ! UK liked the song Time as it had "The "W" Word" in the lyrics ! Two remakes of old songs and The Spanish Government banned the song Cracked Actor, what is there not to like ? Great Bowie Review Video !
The song Watch That Man is the weak spot on this album for me as the vocals are buried in the mix. The same for every edition of this album ever released.
@@TJRtheOriginal it was something that Tom Mclaughlin the director of Jason Lives (Friday the 13th Part 6) told me that the working title for the sixth film (to avoid everyone knowing they were making a Friday the 13th) went under the production moniker of Aladdin Sane. A wink to Bowie, kinda like how Return of the Jedi had the production name of "Blue Harvest" to avoid similar issues
Speaking of not getting something on a record cover, staring right at you. I didn't get the "Aladdin Sane"/ "A-Lad-Insane" thing for many years. 😁
LOL

Wings' "Venus And Mars" album also has that cluttered/ compressed feeling.
Got this same version yesterday. Was familiar already with it and I must say, this sounds incredible! Great (re)mastering! The sound stage is perfect!
Glad you like it!
That picture on the gatefold is fabulous, I’m going to pick this one up myself.
What is the difference between the 2023 50th Anniv. and the 2015 vinyl box versions of Pin-ups/Alladin?
Very good!

Thanks. Superfan appreciates the compliment 🙂....and so do I

It’s a digital master same as the 2017 which included the fan club reproduction, original inner reproduction and heavy vinyl. It sounds great.
A shame a copy of the original fan club card wasn't included, which was included with original UK pressings from '73.
Reading reviews from the time it was often called "Ziggy goes to America". I agree it has that vibe.
Surely they are releasing them chronologically. So Station to Station will come out eventually 😊

Quite agree though Prettiest Star and the Stones cover aren't that great either. Otherwise a good album.
How come we never see Super Fan she's great!?
She doesn't want to be on camera
Aladdin Sane was the 'working' title of Friday the 13th Part 6
Huh?
