    I love Ken's comment about "1984" and American soul music. I always think of "1984" as Bowie doing "Theme from Shaft"!

    I remember discovering David Bowie at a house party 1975. I commandeered the record player and played the Ziggy album twice over having heard nothing like it. It was like "hearing" a color television for the first time.

    I am from Detroit and Bowie witnessed the aftermath of the riots in Detroit in 1967 - some areas were almost post apocalyptic. Great interview! Great album.....Mike Garson is a piano god.
