- Emotions play a critical role in both the painting process as well as the experience of the viewer. In this short video, artist Jill Poyerd discusses how emotional connections take place, the role of beauty in art, and how artists communicate emotion in their work.

Yes, to be an artist is such an important job. Emotions and The Heart must be first! Amazing video thank you!
“Emotion is what makes art an experience “ well said
Jill, I know that you will get tired of hearing this, but your videos are so over the top. The quality of these videos are so well done. I honestly believe that they top and surpass any commercial film or video on the market. your work would be at home with anything on the Discovery channel or any other channel that would show such work. I have enjoyed art and decades (actually more than a half a century). I viewed many films when in school. None are as impressive as your work here. Thanks again.
I am so very flattered, Michael. Thank you so much! Your comments mean even more knowing your extensive background.
I must agree on this 100 % .
I deeply feel the same way.
I wish I had this channel in college during art history class back in 2002.
I agree, I am a blue collar machinist, I truly appreciate the chance to learn about fine art. These videos have inspired me to both go to a gallery and try painting on my own. Thank you.
Art amaze me , putting the emotions on a canvas by colors and strokes of a brush , is actually a way of self treatment , appreciation and gratitude of life or resentment , as poetry words lead our emotions , in a painting our eyes are the window to all emotions .
How beautifully put.
When you said “I think artists are, generally, fairly emotional people.” I started to cry. Soooo can’t help but honestly agree.
Great comment! Thanks, Jordan
Truth. I have told my son that, if he wishes to remember me after I have left this world, to say to himself,"She was helpless in the face of beauty." I can think of nothing better to say about my love for it, all of it that I have seen and known, in all its magicks. There is nothing better.
Your videos are so well produced and your voice is so soothing. Well done!
Thank you...very true emotions in Art.
Wow! Jill, this was incredible. This video had a profound impact on me!
I am a person who finds art, music, and emotion in general, very difficult to access. I have always wanted to see, hear, and feel what other people do when they experience art, but it’s mostly remained locked to me.
I appreciate art, but it’s always been in a cheap mechanical sense (I.e appreciating the skill a painting would have required, but never receiving the message the artist wanted to convey).
This production did something special though, and you gave me a glimpse into how normal people see art. You unlocked it for me.
I think because it was “educational” in nature, and because the voice and music were kinda entrancing, I was lulled into complete concentration. Then when you showed and described the art, I saw it as it was meant to be seen.
Thank you!
Neil, I'm so honored to know the impact the video had on you. It's incredibly rewarding to read comments like yours. Thank you so much for sharing that with me.
i think of pictures vs paintings and paintings have so much more feelings when you see them, even if its the same scene paintings strokes just and colours make it move my inner being when i look at it. theres just more to see than just more to be able to look at
From time to time i go back to this video. I just sit and watch it all. It makes me glat that i am a human being
That means so much....How wonderful
The ship is on the snow storm are on the painting are awesome.
Thank you this beauty. I was moved to tears when you conveyed Jackson Pollock's mental health issues, I had stood infront of his work and was overwhelmed by the mood of it and now I know why. I also know why art has been calling me all these years and I am only just learning. You are the greatest of teachers. Thank you.
I truly appreciate your meaningful, kind comments, Debra. It's so wonderful to know how the videos touch people and how they benefit from them.
Beautiful, thank you💝
I must admit I cant stand listening to most people talk about art in the usual vague fluffy ways they tend to do .....and then I found you,and oh my goodness your wonderful.Your videos are really topnotch and your an excellent teacher in you make very simple direct points ,then elaborate, superb ....Thankyou so very much
Thank you so much, Buck. That means so much. I do try to avoid fluff and to make it a pleasant experience for viewers, so your comment is esp. meaningful to me.
Art is the universal language.

Hi from South Africa.Till this point of my journey on RUclips.I have not seen or heard a more beautiful production.Thank you so much.I as an artist needed this.
Thank you, James. I love comments like this - it means so much.
Thanks! The explanation, rhythm, music...so delicate! ART!.....Again, thanks for sharing!
I really appreciated for your video. I can’t take off my eyes from it. Learnt a lot from it. Was beautiful moment.
How wonderful...I'm so glad you enjoyed it
Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us
I love the way all the videos are made. Truly in love with the soothing flow of the aesthetics. Way enough to move and inspire me. Amazing work!!! would love to see more of your content.
How wonderful, Kunal - I'm so pleased to hear that it inspired you! I always have plans for more, it just takes a while to get them out.
:) Egyptian art is very emotional, especially if you know a little about what or who is represented by particular piece.
Jill, your narrative is well said. When I draw or paint, I feel as though I'm in my own private little world. It's such a wonderful feeling knowing one can express themselves through their work. I'm sure many creative people (actors, writers, performing artists, etc,) feel the same. I'm subscribing!! :)
I'm glad you enjoyed it, George, and welcome to my channel! I know what you're saying about the experience when you paint or draw. It's hard to put into words, but I think you're right - Many creatives feel it.
I find it gives off a certain light and is healing. After I became deaf, I went to the art museums to heal in Washington, DC. I would come home filled with light and feeling wonderful. I think Buddhist monks are aware of this light, too.
How wonderful to read this - how surrounding yourself with the art fills you with light. Imaging how rewarding it would be for those artists if they knew the impact. Great comment. (I love the DC museums....)
Your videos are works of art in and of themselves. I’ve learned so much from them
Thank you so much, Sophie.
My definition of art... An emotional representation in any medium that is both personal and universal.
A very thought-provoking definition...
Thank you. I need reminders that my emotions are not detrimental to my work, but instead a deep well to draw from.
Absolutely...
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you.
Superb !!!!🌹
Thank you, it’s fantastic having your videos to view, please don’t stop.
Plans for many more. Current project needs lots of research, but eventually it'll be released.
The story and the material of this video is brilliant! Thanks a lot .
Jill, I just re-viewed this video. I can't add anything more to the comment that I shared a year ago. Everything that I said then is so much more true after viewing this at least a second time. You do have a way to not only paint with the brush and paints, but you have a way to 'paint' with your words and that ever-so soft, pleasing, and expressive voice. Jill, you are very creative daughter of God who generously shares her talents. Thank you so much for all you have done and do now.
Michael, that may be the most wonderful comment I've ever received. Thank you so very much - it's deeply appreciated.
Michael Parry. Which god are you talking about? Abrahamic religion enslaves the free mind of people and conducts witch hunts and religious wars. Consult the God letter by Einstein.
Thank you for another wonderful and thought provoking presentation.
I just found your channel and really enjoyed how informative and well made your videos are. I wanted to thank you for the effort you put into your videos. This one in particular struck a chord in me- I’ve been feeling jaded and tired of the constant competition and the unhealthy culture among my peers to constantly produce profitable work. I’m not really sure why I paint anymore, who I’m painting for and why. This video reminded me of what drew me to art in the first place: emotion. Experiencing it, expressing it, and sharing it. I need to find that again in my work.
Thank you Jill.
Wynn, this is such a meaningful comment to me. I'm really honored by it, and so very pleased if my work was able to help you gain your footing again - remembering what drew you to painting to begin with. Thank you for letting me know. That's priceless.
I especially liked John McCartin’s, “Morning Mood.” He breaks the rule of not splitting a painting in half, but it works anyway bc of the symmetrical trees on each side in the midground. His use of darker colors in mid-upper portion of the right side of the painting that compliments the sunlit left side of the main tree so well, is quite masterfully done. Ty for another great educational video 🙂🙂
It's an absolutely stunning piece - I agree. What a tree painting!
Thank you for telling us about emotion in Art : from learning this we can enjoy Art more deeply.
I do hope so! That is one of my goals for viewers.
These videos are amazing and inspiring. I know none of this history but I'm thrilled to be learning. Thank you Jill.
Some art can just be a memory of someone somewhere or maybe an event
Thank you for sharing... fabulous explanation!
More please. I've watched so many art videos, but you bring it all together and leave me inspired! Please do more.
Thank you, NeonsStyle. I will definitely continue, although I'm a little slow as I'm a one-person production team. But no plans to stop yet!
Beautiful reportage. Many thanks for your sharing.
My goodness, you should have your own tv series! Thank you for your videos.
Thank you! : )
I am really glad to see your videos in which I learned about arts in depth with your special points of view. Thank you!
You're very welcome, yy Lam. I'm so glad!
Your videos are so inspiring, make me feel to paint again when I am lost my strength.
Thank you so much :)
Beautiful Jill thank you.
Thank you for sharing all your wonderful information .
Thank you Jill.

Lovely production, love the material and the background music, would watch again 10/10
It's really helpful for young artists and it had alot to understand about art. Honestly i never understood what was emotion thing with art was but always attracted to be an artist. Today i understand how to express feelings through art. Grateful to you thankyou😃
That's wonderful to hear, Varun! I'm so pleased to know that it was helpful.
Just discovered your channel a couple days ago and think its absolutely great. Thanks for all the good videos.
Your passion is what made this video an informative and joyful experience. Thanks
Thank you, Jayashree. I really appreciate it.
I have always had an emotional reaction to the Nefertiti Bust Sculpture. Perhaps I am odd. I feel something for her. It is beyond my appreciation for a beautiful woman. Maybe someday I can thoroughly put the feelings into words.
I agree, Christopher. There's something really special about that piece - made more special when you consider the age of it.
I enjoyed your videos so very much. Learned a lot too. Thank you.
Excellent documentary, well presented & perfectly painted by the masters, what a treat, it was fun & such joy to have the opportunity to savour such masterpieces.
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, Rupert
Great videos. Thanks
Wow I am totally fascinated & drawn into your documentary about painting with emotion & how the painter is able to express his moods, spatial awareness & above all his or her skill with the brush or pallet. It was well researched & the paintings are perfect. Many appear to look like they have been photographed. Your voice, pitch & diction just blends so immaculately with those masterpieces. I am unable to paint, but I have always been mesmerised & totally glued to any documentaries or programmes concerning any form of art. It must be a divine gift for someone to be bestowed such a beautiful skill. Keep up the good work, you have done a sterling job.
Thank you so much, Rupert. That really means a lot.
Bet you were a painter in a former life. I was told by a "channeler" that I painted murals long ago and was quite good. Ironically, I had been admiring murals for some time prior to that "channeled" reading. I also started oil painting "overnight," never having painted before. I joined a local community center sponsored class. My life changed - I changed - because of the teacher, 90 years of age, her critiques, and fellow painters paintings. What an experience.
Well , I must stay I discovered this channel really late , amazing . Very peaceful commentary , very professional , I watched this on a rainy day and this is now my goto channel for calm and peace.
Welcome to my channel Al. I'm very happy to have you as a viewer.
This is beautiful. I love it.
Thanks a lot. I was wondering what to paint next. Now I know why if I need to paint. You are wonderful teacher. You make great impact on art students.
Thank you so much, Reza! What a wonderful comment to read. Helping/inspiring/informing....that's what its all about.
What Beautiful video!!! Thanks! Viva la Art!!!
Thank you!
I was only painting when battling depression. A bit strange, but we all find different ways to cope with reality.
No, I get that. Years ago I went through extreme stress in my life. Painting gave my brain an emotional rest.
Beautiful narrative voice you have Jill. I really enjoyed this! I look forward to more viewing from you.
Thank you
Fabulous Jill. Thank you. Art work of art

Great film thank you. From a highly emotional artists perspective, Its definitely my channel to an inner calm.
That's so nice to hear, Claire. Thank you for sharing that. I do like to present a peaceful tone as this world tends to be so chaotic.
I enjoyed this thank you
Thank you so much for sharing, it is great content, keep producing more.

You know, I actually got choked up a few times when reviewing it! lol... I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Hell, I must go back to work! Those videos entrapped me :-)
lol - I'm flattered
Love the art and personal pieces, and your voice is beautiful
Thank you!
This video, with all these painting really touched me (my english isnt the best. I hope this message is right :D). I had to stop at pretty much every painting, just because my first impression where always like "Wow! I gotta google this artist!" (I have 11 tabs opened with soome different artist, you have shown in this video. And another 7 from another of your videos). Well, to cut a long story short: Thanks for this amazing video! I enjoyed it! :)
There are so many talented people, aren't there? It's always enjoyable to discover a new artist and their work. I'm glad you've been enjoying my videos!
Thank you, I feel much better now...
I'm so glad, Souko. It means so much when any of my work helps people.
Thoroughly enjoyed. Any form of art is an expression of emotions and without it's not art be it poetry, music, paintings, etc. Life would be less enjoyable and less worth if art as an expression didn't exist. Thanks for the informative video. Best wishes
So nicely put...You're very welcome.
Fantastic video thanks
You're very welcome
This is an amazing video! Awesome work :D
Thank you!
Jillllllllllllllllll i have seen this video many times and still the most excited video ever
Thank you so much, Rafat. That really means a lot.
Just a fabulous video.
Thank you
Great work
4 kinds of meaning in art- Emotional is just one of them, Intellectual, spiritual, aesthetic and intellectual are also valid types of meaning in art.
Thank you very much Jill :)
You're very welcome, Bogz
