I actually like when companies correct their mistakes on reissues. Maybe because I'm an early adopter of tech, I'm ok with this. It's not the same, I know, but in that world, it is a given the first release, won't be the best. The thing I don't like is when companies purposely put out the less desirable version first without saying they will do a different version. I don't feel like that's what they did. I can still understand people feeling a way. Also, maybe I don't care because I'm not in on it for robot mode lol.
@@MADDSONN I have mixed feelings, it's nice because it matches the set better but it's not nice because those that bought the first one will not have an exact match (altho the difference is minor)
I remember back when the first 3 were released, there have been some complaints regarding the inconsistencies with the paints used in the set. It's nice that they changed it to match.
I'm getting 2 reissues. So I'm going to have a majority with the newer paint matching. Luckily didn't pay late tax on a second copy. Just waited on those as my display versions. The OG can probably be combined mode then. They're probably cost cutting with removing the fleck in the paint, which is probably more to do with that these days.🤷♂️
I guess if you're going to change paint mid-stream, this is probably the best way to do it. It would've been cool of them to offer a discount for original purchases, though. He looks better, but I doubt I'll get him. Thanks Sony
It might be of interest to look at the colour differences under UV light. The original maverick, goose and iceman's eyes light up, whereas the bots that followed had eyes that did not illuminate with UV, marking a change in the FT paint scheme
I wonder if the colour difference is more of cost thing - meaning they wouldn't use two similar shades of red if they can just one shade for both, load up the same red and yellow for all and go you go.
Hard agree on the colour surprise and punishing early adopters. To me, this isn't as egregious (probably because I don't yet have a Maverick, and I don't mind the combiner legs being a darker red), but I felt this way when I bought Jive and the ToyHax sticker set, and FT shortly announced Jive X. Not enough regard for their customer's investment, I think. This time, I'm just annoyed because I liked the original colours. I wanted the combiner to be more metallic, and I don't care about cartoon accuracy. I Liked the orange, even if I didn't own Maverick yet. At least I get to keep a bit of metallic red in the legs, I suppose.
I kinda want to get this as it’s the best looking silver bolt Concorde mode as it does not have that much kibble but it’s still not the best. However I’m not paying $450 aud for it I would rather buy 3 touch toys jets
Hey TM, any word on FT's re-releasing their Stunticon Set. After careful consideration which resulted from viewing the combined mode of their Menasor...my DX9 just doesnt look good to me anymore
The only difference I see with the color change is that it happened 6 years later. I can see them not having the same paint budget or something from back then. It’s a bit more understandable than doing it a few months later like XTB.
@ I totally empathize. I’m on the side of people who preferred the original release colors and I think that red looks better, but… I can also understand it being released so long ago.
I agree that as far as the colors go that's kinda scummy because that's something they deliberately caused themselves, but companies should probably fix things on a second wave if some kind of problem crops up in the first wave of a product- doesn't really make sense to just leave flaws there. Obviously they should just QC test properly to begin with so they don't have to, but ultimately from the buyer's perspective that's a risk that comes with being an early adopter of just about anything.
I did try to point this out on TfW2005 last year but was not believed , sold the first 3 because of it and still have the money ready to pay Showz for the reissues 🤣
Supply chain disruptions over the past 5 years, especially in China, is surely the reason for the paint change... Maybe the paint vendor or materials are no longer available.
Waiting on mine. And glad the reissue has the matching color
I do love the original colors of Maverick. Is what attracted me to the figure to begin with despite the mixed match later

Good point, that's why I still recommended it. However, something has to be said about changing the color scheme midway thru the set
Nice that they changed it, but tbh, I liked the initial coloring of Maverick, oh well.. I'm just happy to have him and be able to complete the set
Me too, arrives soon
How is the color change “nice” if you don’t mind my asking?

I"m so glad you did this comparison. I really like the new colors
I'm glad these are finally coming out i pre-ordered mines a while ago, thanks for the review TM!
I'm glad I have the first release. I prefer the old colour palate. I wish they would have continued the metallic.
Thanks for the info.
Him and Skydive will be here Tuesday from CP. Fn stoked to complete this set!!
Lessgooooo
Changing the colors during the middle of producing the first full set isn’t cool.
I guess mine will match. I got Maverick, Iceman, and Goose coming on Wednesday from Nick. I decided to get in 6 years late.

Hey are you gonna do the same for goose and iceman,, that would be cool. I need to know thanks in advance tmreviews..
Yes. Working on it as we speak
Cool cant wait @@TMReviews
The OG for me. Has more sauce with the more metallic look. They really shouldn't have altered the colour pallet mid-way through the set anyway.

Wish they would have stayed with metallic red for all of them.

Very nice,, im wondering if goose and iceman will be different with the colors as well.. I hope not thou.
Are you going to look at the 3D print limb add ons?
If someone sends it, yes
I’ve got the reissue coming and he will be displayed in Concorde mode, are those 2 little arm tabs lose or are they much tighter this time round

Cool of them to address complaints but the new prices are bonkers 😂

This is nothing like XTB bait and switch immediately after they post pics, but still has a feeling of dissatisfaction to me

Interesting to see how the weight of the die-cast affects the joints after 6 years
It’s copy to copy. Was curious on mine since I had not messed with it in years and mine is just like the reissue. All tight and solid

Is that 2024 or 2025 reissue ?
FT screwed up. They should be blasted for this but their fans will applaud anything they do 😂 This color change isn’t intentional.
I did at the end. Did you watch it?
Yes I saw your commentary at the end
Will FT reissue menasor?
They haven't announced it but likely yes they will reissue the first 4 figures
It's nice that the new one matches the others but it now looks like a knock off compared to the old one
This was fast LOL
yeah, this seems scummy. ft should offer a sort of a credit for early adopters.
It sure has tiny hands... does it smell like cabbage?
