Half guard can be great if you are the one controlling your opponent from the bottom, but it can also be a great position for your opponent to crush you from top. These sets of moves work when you generate movement from the bottom using the "knee lever" method.

Great to come back to these videos from time to time, not only to refresh the memory but mostly to have the pleasure of remembering that there was a time when Professor Mark clapped❤

That elbow over the shoulder trick to move their base is amazing. Learning how to move in bottom half is amazing but learning how to move opponents base from bottom half is masterful.

I have been using it for the last couple of weeks and it works every time. On bottom half guard with this base I now always go ostensively for the far shoulder just to bait my partner into trying to get my arm. What a nugget this detail is

It is absolutely incredible how Jean Jacques explains how the simplest details matter and how he chains them to continue the sequence.

I train under your brother, John Machado in Allen, TX. Thank you, for the wonderful technique! I have been getting stuck on bottom in this exact position a lot and this helps a ton!

The more I advance in BJJ the more I realize this is the BJJ we have to look for, sometimes half guard is the only bottom position that allows me to go with the younger and faster lions. These details are really something great.
    Thank´s for sharing.

Man, i wish I’m someone showed that to me 12 years ago…
Would save so much pain and anguish.
Bjj still not thought right. Foundations/fundamentals should be uniform a the beginner levels.
Produce black belts that can reproduce your teachings.
