Haha all of them ;D But you really should do the "big ones" like "The Poet and the Pendulum" live from Wembley (tears guaranteed), "Greatest Show on Earth" live from Tampere (THE MASTERPIECE) and maybe the most emotional NW song - "Dead Boy's Poem" live from Bueno Aires. Can't wait to see your reactions. AND... please, please take a look at Epica. 2nd unbelievable Symphonic Metal band with a fantastic female singer - Simone Simons. To get an idea you can start with a duett (feat. floor Jansen) - "Sancta Terra" live Retrospect. Or you start with "Beyond the Matrix" live from Paris. The next deeeep rabbit hole. Don't miss them.

Favourite NW performance (more than just the song) has definitely become "7 Days To The Wolves", Wembley Arena 2015. Unmatched energy, vocal Floor/Marko masterclass and all around stellar delivery. You'll see why I found it so brave of them to bring it back on the setlist last night in Amsterdam. Cheers!
EDIT: May have to amend this already, bcz of the unbelievable Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort they filmed at last night's Ziggo Dome gig. Can't wait for the BD!

The second verse Tuomas wrote for Floor, her husband Hannes van Dahl and their daughter Freja. This is Tuomas way to say: Thank you Floor for saving the band back in 2012 and make us great again.
he wrote the part "We met where the cliff greets the sea" about her relationship with Hannes van Dahl (although is also a clear reference to Élan), and "Now there’s one who came from me / A child of light, another tale", which is about her giving birth to their daughter Freja. How cool is that?
I mean, he really did what the song is about: human empathy. And what a better way to show it by dedicating a little part of the song for his friend and band mate? She said she went to tears when he mentioned it to her. And I can see why, it is a beautiful song.
    Nightwish... Nuff Said!!!
    🤘😎🤘.

They played this version of "How's The Heart" at the epic Nightwish Ziggo Dome concert in Amsterdam last night and it was just so good & heartwarming especially after Floor's cancer surgery. She really brought the fire and then some. Musical magic & magnificence, full of surprises. Jukka doing a little dance at the start of "I Want My Tears Back"? How they sneaked in one of my all time favourites, "7 Days". When they played the first bars of that one, we went absolutely 🍌🍌What a brave & bold move to bring it back on the setlist w/ Marko. Screamed the Marko parts so loud that my voice is completely gone now (screaming "Henkie! Henkie! on top of my lungs also contributed hehe).
At the start of the show, Floor announced that they'd film it all. We already had our hopes up high, but as soon as she said that, we knew that she'd brought Henk Poort for the ride (as was promised in 2019 at the "Beste Zangers" TV show). And what a ride it was. The whole concert was absolutely fantastic and their Phantom with Henk was the grand cherry on the cake. Unforgettable show, still can't believe we were there! That "DVD" is gonna kick @ss! Cheers from Amsterdam!🤘

This is one of my absolute favorites. The message is beautiful: kindness, caring and love. Tuomas wrote the second verse "We met where the cliff greets the sea..." to honor Floor. The studio verson has a steady celtic rock beat, but this is more emotional due the more intimate acoustic setting. ⛄👍

Floor is just so incredible! She had a surgery to remove the cancer about month ago and has started the European tour with Nightwish over week ago. She has been absolutely phenomenal vocally despite her not being 100% recovered. The emotion in her singing can be heard in all those shows and I've shed so many tears while watching the videos taken from those gigs. One of the most emotional songs in those shows is How's the Heart (acoustic) where Floor asks everyone to turn on the lights in their phones to show love to people they think about. Yesterday Floor performed Phantom of the Opera with Henk Poort and she hold the last note (D6) for 12 seconds. It's incredible how well she does considering her situation.
For the next Nightwish song I recommend Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley or the Greatest Show on Earth live at Tampere.

    • @fjnw
      @fjnw Год назад +2

I was at the show in Amsterdam this evening, which ended just 2 hours ago. In no way you could notice that she has had surgery only 4 weeks ago. She was full of energy, enthousiastic, singing fabulously and dancing all over the place on 'I want my tears back'. Incredible. Oh, and of course Troy and Floor did 'How's the heart' accoustic!
Compared to last week Nightwish have now added 2 songs to setlist (now 16 instead of 14). Probably because she is doing well.

They are actually performing this version of the song on their current 2022 world tour and it is a wonderful addition to the show. Floor has gotten stronger every night since doing her first show after her cancer surgery in Antwerp on November 20th. Although there are only a few fan videos (nothing official) from that show, it was an incredibly emotional night, with Floor actually bursting into tears near the end of Sleeping Sun. Hi and thank you for yet another intresting and entertaining video!
I actually got to see this live two days ago in Amsterdam. I can tell you that it was a very emotional experience. It was the exact same setup like in this video but at the end, when Floor goes into her overdrive the rest of the band joins in too.
And the guitarists name is Troy. He and Floor had a nice little moment before the song as she climbed up to the platform he was on.
During this concert another amazing thing happened. With out saying anything beforehand they played Phantom of the opera and ofc they had Henk Poort join in for the performance of that song!
I totally lost it two seconds after hearing the first drone note. And when Henk walked on stage i was sure that the roof would rip right of the building.
If you want to do a reaction to it there are several clips here on YT. Just search for “nightwish phantom of the opera ziggo dome”.
I remember that you mentioned that it is one of your favorite musicals so I thought I would at least tell you so you can watch it.
But you might want to wait aswell because Floor said that they where recording the show. But I’m not sure if it was filmed or if it was audio only. I was sitting so far from the stage and with everything going on I didn’t really look that much for any cameras.
Anyway, have a nice day and thank you again for the work that you put into these reactions.

Nonetheless a BIG Thank You for reacting to this wonderful piece of music, and your comments and insights on it.

Great acoustic version of this beautiful song.
Floor is out of question and Nightwish a stunning band but I'm also becoming more and more a fan of Troy, what a fantastic musician.
We had the opportunity to enjoy Nightwish in Düsseldorf on 01. December. It was awesome.
Nina : Thank you for this professional and also charming reaction ... love it . Wish you happy holidays 🎅

I absolutely adore your reactions. So much personality, so much knowledge and talent, and so much to love. There is always delight in your discovery of the genius of Nightwish and the compositions of Tuomas. Troy was such a brilliant addition to the band, and he has become one of Tuomas's closest friends. When you have a chance, take a listen to Auri - the "side" project of Tuomas, Troy and Johanna Kurkela (Tuomas's wife and incredible singer). All three compose, and it's on a mellow, sensual level. Amazing music to relax and think. They've released two albums, and all three are fully in on the project. In their interviews, they all say it is something each of them has been seeking, and they plan to keep working with no end in sight.

I saw them do the acoustic version live at Wembley last week and it was amazing. A little different since the rest of the band came in at the end but I think the song is actually better acoustic than the studio version although that is also good.

Troy became a full member of Nightwish at the same time as Floor, in the summer of 2013. They were asked approximately 2 months prior to the Wacken 2013 concert.

I compare this to Pentangle, an early 70's British Folk group featuring guitarists John Renbourn, Bert Jansch and vocalist Jacqui McShee. "Hunting Song" is a great example.

What? Am I the first to see this one? Kind of funny 😊. Great reaction, I really enjoy your reactions Nina. But I think that you should back a few seconds after each stop,or else sometimes the fluency of the song is broken.
This is one of my favorite Nightwish performances. Although I have many, many more 😁. Can’t wait to see them live for the first time next year.

Something a bit different Nightwish style with Annette Olzon. - Nightwish - Slow Love Slow live Montreux Jazz Festival 2012 HQ. There isn't just one favorite NW song for me, but lots of them. Shudder before the beautiful would be a good choise.

It was good to see your talent on the keyboard for a brief moment. Nightwish just played Wembley Arena and the age range is surprising, from young to elderly fans. I spent £300 on Nightwish merch that night, oops! I would follow the news on Nightwish, as they are working on a new album and will be on tour again. You would really appreciate Nightwish so much more live. It really hits you emotionally. When you mention folky, a few days ago I went to see a Folk Metal band from Switzerland called Eluveitie, they have 9 members, all playing instruments from bagpipes, flute, harp, hurdy gurdy, electric guitar, drums, etc.

Great reaction Nina! I always love that you can pick up and play a section on your keyboards real time, and discuss a little bit about that as well as the vocals. I was lucky enough to see them earlier in the year and they performed this. Pretty special. It was nice to hear something acoustic in amongst their full set of more symphonic metal pieces. What a great show it was!
For next suggestions, I'll again suggest LiSA from First Take. I'd so love for you to react to her because not only do I think she is a world class vocalist - truly one of the best - her First Take performances are almost all just her vocals isolated in a studio setting with a piano. Perfect for you! Plus, I'd be curious as to what you think of her vocals. Her superpower is intensity and emotion carried in the vocal phrasing. That's probably most clearly the case in Homura, but Gurenge is a good one too, as is Unlasting. All of them have CC for English subtitles. Highly recommended!

This song is one of the few acoustic versions of a song that I actually like almost just as much as the album version. I do prefer the fullness and uplifting instrumentals of the album version, but I do love the intimate and emotional feel this version has. I like to listen to them each when I'm in different moods. I wish they had done the album version at their concert, however, I was a bit disappointed I didn't get to hear them play the album version live. I felt like it was a missed opportunity.

Finally I wanted to comment two related things. First of all to what is metal? We are well aware of Camille Saint-Saëns's Dance Macabre here in the Netherlands --> ruclips.net/video/lpms9Ob56U8/видео.html That was late 1900's. As to why it's so popular especially in the south of the Netherlands? Spookslot in themepark Efteling was closed a year ago -> ruclips.net/video/JyQIcsUQX08/видео.html at 5:50 you hear Danse Macabre. After Forever, Floor's former band, as well as Epica & The Gathering are from around near there. Coincidence?!? Heck, you can hear Anneke van Giersbergen, former singer of The Gathering singing in another attraction in the Efteling nowadays... Hence some people call it Eftelingmetal.

Hi Nina! I like this song, i like both versions, this acoustic version and the normal album version, but my favorite is the acoustic version. If you like songs in that way or a capella songs than you should look the song "Rivers" from EPICA, the a capella version. This is such a beautiful song and i love the a capella version. If you have time check it out, i'm 100% sure you would like it! Maybe in an reaction? 😉 Greetings from Vienna!

Such a difficult melody to sing vocally..... there are not many vocalists on the planet that could tune that so accurately and consistently, let alone have the incredible rapid diction, and changes in placement necessary to pull that off...... So impressive

Please, consider reacting to TUOMAS HOLOPAINEN - A LIFETIME OF ADVENTURE (Official video) from his 2014 solo project 'Music Inspired by the Life and Times of Scrooge' a graphic novel by Don Rosa, the illustrator/storyteller. The album is essentially a soundtrack for the graphic novel.
It was recorded in London with an orchestra. Don Rosa is on the video, drawing. Beautiful, delicate vocals by Johanna Kurkela, Tuomas' wife. Different from the songs Tuomas writes for Nightwish but as good. To me one of his best songs.
Interesting and funny backround info: 'Holopainen and Rosa interviewed by Radio Nova',
parts 1&2, only 5 minutes altogether.

Ah, one of my favourites from the latest album. Which is better word in English than in Dutch, btw: latest. See, in English there's latest & last. In Dutch it's both last (laatste). The surname of Floor is pronounced with a short ah. It's a common last name here: Janssen, Jansen & Janse (from west to east, typically Jansen is thus from the middle and in Floor's case mid-south so correct). It rhymes with dance, chance & France basicly. Historicaly the 'a' in English is like Scandinavian, but we write it as e in the rest of the countries where a Germanic language is spoken.
7:51 There's a typical I --> II over I in the bass. I guess phrygian II in this case, but still very Tuomas Holopainen.

So Floor rhymes with "car" (r silent) - that is new to me.
For American English, it would rhyme with "bar" (removing the r), as US English wants to say car with a much more open mouth.
Thanks for the detailed comments, I've bookmarked your 5 curated m-vids.

@@trestruant9941 Oh dear. I used the European surname. So I meant her last name Jansen. That first vowel is equivalant to car & far. Floor just rhymes with, well... floor.
