Thanks for the great video! I was having a hard time comparing these to the SROs, which I don’t have, so I was not aware of the bug. I opened 10 boxes and got 3 so now I am excited to keep them!
If you are a Romulan faction toon, you can just farm *100% free* SRO's at the Command Center. Theres doffing BOFF recruitment missions that pop up, usually under Operations, a few times a week. Thats where the supply on the exchange comes from.
Not going out of my way for 1% extra crit chance, since I already have my romulan officers. I actually do make use of cloaking on my battlecruiser too, so I even throw on a superior subterfuge in her engineer slot. Really wish Fed characters could access a superior infiltrator, but alas... no reman embassy officers. Honestly, I don't play the kind of meta build which requires small changes like this anyway.
Appreciate all you do! Definitely have helped me get better at understanding mechanics. Have you done any guides on specialist BOFF space abilities (or do you know any good ones out there)? I found a decent one for tanking but none really for DPS or SCI.
Thanks for this. Most of my characters are roms, but my 1st character and main is a Vulcan and it always bothered me that I couldn't get SRO's. These seem better to me!
I opened 10 boxes and got one, so I'm happy. My lifetime sub forever making my life easier 😆 not prone to spending much anymore. Might still buy a couple off the auction house as they'll only go up in price 🙃
For the perks under the skill trees for Tac, I think you're often faced with choosing between 1% crit chance and 5% crit severity. I've always considered those to be about equivalent since most people say it doesn't really matter which you pick. If that is the case, I'd consider a 3% crit chance 3% crit severity better than 2% crit chance and 5% crit severity. If we normalize the stats: 3*5+3*1=18 score for Watcher, 2*5+5*1=15 score for the SRO. Watchers win by a small amount for ships that you don't use a cloak on.
Don't exactly quote me on this.. But for what I find That extra 1% in critical chance actually makes up for In critical severity... Simply on the basis that you're getting the quit more often Or it may just be the way I have my Critical chance set up
@@kenbennett4556 you want both in balance. On weapons you want severity over chance, because the severity stat is higher on weapons. On most other things like consoles you take chance over severity, or a combination of both. In the old days people went for a 1/10 balance, so 30% chance, you'd try to achieve 300% severity. However, with modern ~100% chance builds, I think the balance is closer to 1/3.
How is it power creep??? They're available to anyone and there's no time factor on obtaining them, like with endeavor perks. Also they're actually worse than SROs which have been available for years...
There has been word that the superior watcher operative does NOT stack with each other - it's supposed to be a bug that's getting fixed. I have no idea how true this is, as this was just something i saw on ESD chat.
@@MCStu So if you have two Watchers does that mean it isn't 6% crit chance and 6% crit severity in total? That would be very significant and a reason to go SRO.
What kind of BOFs would you get IF you take away the meta ability of SRO or watcher? Whould you consider for example a Bajoran or Trill or Human or Vulcan or any other race?
Back before SRO's Humans were considered okay for Techie which gave bonus hull regeneration. Another good one was Saurians had efficient which gave bonus to power to subsystems below 75, which at the time was most of them since there wasn't as much bonus to power systems available. Nausicaans have the pirate trait which gives bonus dmg.
The same I currently run on my main, my first four Boffs from the tutorial long long ago, I'm not sure if they were scripted or randomized back then, but two Andorians, a Vulcan and a Trill, all wearing TWOK uniforms like my captain... Space barbie truly is the end game and until I can dress one of these up in a matching uniform, I just don't care. Got a Rom alt for the day I decided to care about SROs.
Nausicaans for the Bonus to all damage. When Eng and Sci SROs became available to non-Roms, I got them first on my Fed characters since KDF can still do Nausicaans.
SWO better than SRO. If talk about fixed both trait, and I don't talk about price (for example Romulan SRO cheaper than SWO)... but, so, let's say we have: 2 Tac Locators + 4 SRO - this will be - (8% SRO crtH + 4% crtH Locators) = 12% crtH total and 20% crtD SRO 2 Tac Exploiters + 4 SWO - will be - 12% crtH SWO and (19.6% crtD Exploiters + 12% crtD SWO ) = 31.6% crtD total at same amount of 2 Tac Slots and 4 boffs slotts with SWO we get more 11.6% crtD with same amount of crit chance. So SWO much better SRO.
just wanted to tell you if you watch this-there are a couple new codes now-one for Alienware and one for epic games-I know you try to make videos to keep the players updated:P
I bought a couple and had instant regret; no outfit/facial customization options, that's a no-go for me regardless of specs. Sold them 10 minutes later

This game is 13yrs old and its still awesome hope it get,s Gearbox Engine update
I don't really see how that would happen tbh. You'd have to remake the whole game to do that.

I was told that you want chance over severity, the idea being severity does you no good if you're not getting a critical in the first place.

It's power creep. These boffs are going to skyrocket in price. Get 'em while they're cheap.

These Watcher Companions look really useful and interesting. I'll have to try to get my hands on one or two.
I heard they dont stack
You can't change their uniform though sadly... but they are nice though
Great video
I have the 3 Jem'hadar boffs on my ship already & I'm not one of those sweaty DPS chasers, so I might get 1 Watcher 'just cuz'.
those are really useful, i got 3, the romulan, and the pink lady with the proto stuff for heals on science
Basically 1/3 of the boxes I opened were WO Boffs...
Thank you for the video and breakdown. Picking up a few of these on my alts, definitely cheaper than SROs 😎
Thanks for this info. Do you have any details on how the Watcher Companion Shapeshift trait works?
I use them on my tac characters. Good for feddie/KDF people who don’t have the dil/FC to get SROs from fleet embassy’s
I've got two of the Watcher's, I just wish I could change they're appearance as they're twins.
Ya same
It's so simple to monetize a game if you don't have to worry about balance 😅
I really hope other game studios don't copy this approach.
Every game is doing the same thing.
@@Milan_1389 No there not I play Hitman 3. I don't see them putting guns behind lockboxes.
@@KalEl7802 That is not the same, that is single player game.

And just like that, the exchange value goes to 7 billion EC.
new boff release bonus until they fix them. that +5 def will be a pvp meta!
They are running 7.2 mil EC on the Exchange as of this comment.
They were 4mil prior ro this video :(
This video is confusing, do the Watcher buffs stack with multiple watcher boffs? You said the SROs are better because they stack.
Yes they both stack, as of right now the Watchers are better then the Fleet SROs for FED and KdF. For ROM toons the non fleet SROs are the best.
Even at 3% and 3% it is better than 2% and 5% of the SRO.
Can you change their outfits?
No
What about Ground?
They are very good on ground, although they do not buff you.
1% crit is worth more than 2% critical severity in 99% of builds, unless you are so Chad you have 100% crit.
If they cant bring the SRO's down then they should bring the rest up.
I bought a couple and had instant regret; no outfit/facial customization options, that's a no-go for me regardless of specs. Sold them 10 minutes later
These are $20,000,000 each on the exchange now. 😪
Hope they don't fix it. It doesn't do anything detrimental to the game.
