Hi Johnny: We haven’t met, but I enjoy your channel. I also like Matt Stefan’s channel. Not long ago I purchased some CORE Tackle products. I live in Madison, WI. Recently my wife and I started an exercise wellness program and I found out another participant is your Aunt Sissy. She is a wonderful lady. She knows I’m hooked on fishing and suggested I connect with you. Many thanks to you and Matt for working to make us all better fishermen. Your information is very much appreciated. Stay safe. God Bless!
By far one of the best visuals of how ffs is a skill learned just like past learning. thank you for the visuals and the tips for sure going to give the jig a go .
You and Matt keep coming out with terminal tackle that I think will revolutionize fishing. That's awesome ordered some of these and I cannot wait to try them. If they work as well as the hover rig and the tush they will be incredible
Revolutionize fishing? Did you miss the whole part where he pretty much said- we just 100% ripped of a Japanese technique 🤦♂️ you being naive, and influencer marketing is what’s ruining the sport. Not a ffs screen, stupidity. Why does core tackle need this? How TF king has there been a wacky shot in Japan??? FOREVER! THATS absurd, and you’ll probably sell them for $2 a hook which is even more absurd. I do love a good wacky rig tho. So that’s sick Johnny ..but you have to be kidding me w this rig
@@ADKyakmanthis has been around in various forms for a long time. It's not new for sure and I doubt it was done first in Japan. But this is a nice looking product (yea a little expensive but of course people will buy them). So this specific design is innovative and it looks like it works great.
Yeah but really expensive to play the game these days so I don't blame him there. He's like me; just love to catch fish and work on ways to get them to bite.
I get to fish with a couple of guys on the BPT pretty often and I believe they would say he’s as proficient as almost anyone there. He is very good at planning and then adjusting as things unfold. I was pretty confident in my skills offshore and he has still taught me plenty. I know that for sure.
I for one have never been happier that Jonny was smart enough to realize that trying to be a pro fisherman is a complete waste of time. He's making a great living teaching bass fishing without contributing to the downfall of our fisheries caused by the out of control livewell tournamnets over the last 40 years.
@@FishtheMoment I always do John I've mainly watched a lot of your videos where your showing how to read your fish finder and the information is fantastic Mr Shultz thanks for that I appreciate it.god bless you and your family.
I like it man... over the years I've actually just slid a bobber stop and up to a 3/16oz tungsten bullet weight above my weedless wacky hook and basically Texas rigged a wacky rig and targeted deeper bass but more recently since livescope I've played around with that rig like you're doing here. I grew up on Toledo Bend and fished Rayburn and Fork a ton and all of these places are extremely pressured bodies of water. So any time I can show the fish something they haven't seen a million of you can crack them for a little while. I really like the way this looks when are these going to be available??
People have been putting tungsten weights into wacky rigs for years and years. Not sure I'd describe this technique as "new", although the hook and screw is a new way (to me anyway) on achieving the same result/action.
Before lives came out we used to catch them on trick worms or finesse worms like that but seemed like the only way theyd bite was toss it out there and let it fall all the way to the bottom, just let it sit before theyd pick it up.
Man, this strategy is so smart. You’re amazing! I think the insight about the spot location is just as exciting as the innovative hook (but I like the hook too! I’m a wacky girl haha).
TW was already out just after the Classic so I ordered two of each from your site. Love the idea. They just came in yesterday and my first thought was that the diameter of the spiral keeper seems too big for some smaller worms. Was wanting to use the 1/28th on some smaller finesse worms but it looks like the keeper isn't going to work. Have you thought about varying the size of the keepers by drop shot weight? Looks like the keepers are going to be pretty big even with a standard Senko.
I compared the wacky shot with 2 other weighted finesse jig heads and the wacky shot had the least amount of movement on the fall and tore the Yamamoto senkos up after multiple cast or after 1 fish. We have been using FFS and weighted jig heads for awhile now.
Thanks for the feedback. I haven't had issues with a senko coming off since using the final keeper we landed on. Are you using the 5" size? Also, the wacky shot is not designed to give the bait "More" action than a traditional weighted wacky hook. It did give the bait a different body movement on the fall and when you pull it during our testing. Almost like the center of the worm moves more and the tails less.
Jonny, you have some great terminal tackle Innovations. It would be great if you could make them weedless for a Shore fisherman. On a side note: that FS looks awesome, but and my age I can't imagine staring at a screen like that waiting for a fish to bite. Ouch my neck.
Glad you like it! I will be making half my videos with FFS and Half without going forward. I'll also always try to explain the how I find the areas where I'm using FFS with mapping and side imaging/traditional sonar.
I love you videos been watching them ever since you started or close , that being said this method is not new , we used nail weights way before this even hit the shelves , an let ya in on a secret trd nail weights is very dangerous as well.
The spring lock looks too big to accommodate smaller, more finesse style worms - stick bait size only. Will you be making it with a smaller twist lock?
We tried using a smaller twist lock, but the worms would come off too easily while skipping and casting. The bigger one we used will hold the bait on really well, but only works with thicker worms as you mentioned.
I’m a 61 yr. old woman who just started fishing two years ago. I mainly fish in Florida. I have to find spots that might hold fish and look for environmental signs that they are there. I have no boat. I have no sonar. To me, that’s fishing, when you can’t take visual pictures underwater to find the fish. Not sure how there’s a lot of challenge when you use drones and sonar. Finding the fish is the main challenge! When I catch fish, I feel like I’ve accomplished something.
Varivas makes a very similar design It’s a gernade sinker that clips onto a little loop of the hook Called the mosquito hook All made by varivas However in terms of expense the core tackle will be a much better value
I can't get over how looking at that live picture you see the fish and the bait then they disappear off the screen only to come back....I still say those live beams aren't wide enough to hold the picture....gotta be good with the TM to keep them on the screen.
Idk why but I friggin hate wacky rig fishing. I’ve tried doing it a handful of times and it just is not for me. I’ve had way better luck just weightless Texas rigging a bait and fishing it the same way you do a wacky rig. Then try a wacky rig and it’s just Dead Sea fishing for me after that. I got like 10 different kinds of stick baits that I’ve used 1 bait out of each pack and the rest just stay in the bag because I hate em. 😂😂.
Love the concept of this wacky shot (I just got mine today from TW), but the hooks seem really small. But, I digress…. Starring at a FFS screen and watching fish eat (or follow) a lure seems incredibly ungratifying. Kinda takes the fun of the anticipation out of it doesn’t it? Seems like this is more of an advertisement for FFS than it does the wacky shot. But, I digress… I have no intention of using FFS, but it looks like a promising rig, regardless.
In my case, it’s a financial decision - I would love to use it as an instructional tool to learn bass behavior but I’m too poor. As long as the manufacturers and sponsors are pumping FFS, it’s going to be a thing. However I feel If the pros want to use it, there should be a separate class, like in racing, where technology and performance are in their own category than the limited classes
I didn't mention it in the video, but I realized I was setting the hook too soon because I was watching them eat the bait on Livescope. After letting the fish eat it longer, I had them all hooked really well.
The flick shake has a different action because the weight is further away from the worm. The wacky shot has a different fall and action when twitched because the weight is right next to the worm.
This video is why there are so many people speaking out against FFS. This has nothing to do with fishing learned from experience on the water. It is spot lighting plain and simple. Without the FFS he would have never known these fish existed.
I saw them on Side Imaging first and even showed that in the video. I knew those fish were there before I ever made a cast. I agree that I was able to catch them because of FFS, but I did find them without it.
Johnny had been doing this exact type of targeted fishing since way before ffs. He has full seminars on finding structure and how it fish it. Of course ffs helps, he is using the best tool at his disposal to test a new core tackle prototype. I agree this isn’t a ton of fun to watch for those of us that don’t have ffs, but as far as testing a new product and proving it can work, why would you choose a less efficient way to fish? He finds fish, gets the lure in front them, and proves that it can catch fish.
Gigantic stick baits will start to show up on livescope due to this head not holding the bait. Not a new technique..its an alternative..donit with a nedhead
I gotta be honest with you the weight around the worm is a better technique but you lose a lot of tackle and I’d bet this sit up isn’t any different. My thoughts are if you want to drag a wacky worm why not peg a weight and drag the worm.
I wish they would ban livescope all together. I am so sick of seeing so called bass fisherman looking a video game screen. Id love to see how many they could catch with out them
I'll be doing 2 videos per month with Livescope and 2 without livescope going forward. I'll be continuing my Catch15 series where I try to catch 15lbs of bass in 8 hours without Livescope.
@@FishtheMoment that would be great fishing back the way it's meant to be... The electronics is killing the sport so bad even the pros are bitching about it now. Good for them
Yeah I'm pretty torn on the subject. A lot of people want to learn new FFS techniques, but a lot of other people don't even have FFS, so it makes it hard to make instructional content that helps both groups. My best idea so far is to make both types of content and hope that both groups can learn from the other!
Yeah man the technique didn’t catch that first fish, livescope did. You wouldn’t have worked it that way if you didn’t know there was a fish following it like that. I’m priced out of using livescope so this video is not very useful at all.
Gamakatsu already makes a weighted wacky hook plus its weedless been using it for about a year now. This is just a knock off with a spring coming off the hook🤣👎 not impressed
