What this dude did back in the day to commit to catching big carp is unbelievable! There was little to no money in it like today, he did it because he loved it. Think he worked the roads during the close season and pretty much lived on the bank the rest of the year. One of the real hero’s of real carp fishing. I’m so glad he’s doing well and back on the bank.
I had a weekend at ND a few weeks ago, Ritchie allowed me to use his bike, he looked after my dog in the meantime, he shared a few nuggets of advice, he took time out to clean the toilet block, he met me the next day and took time out to speak to my grandkids, this man is a great man, it was an honour to spend time with him
A huge pat on the back for team korda to help Ritchie get back to where he loves, good luck with your recovery man, I'm also 3 years sober we do recover one day at a time ❤
Back in the 80s on the clone valley chucking the 3 rd rod about we used to call it the “rover” rod , Ritchie is a complete legend, I have many a funny story with Ritchie he inspired so many anglers to really take to another level, he was so far ahead of the game , I’m so happy that he’s back doing what he loves , a lot of the heads in the valley and Staines burnt themselves out drinking and spliffing as some of these low level stock pits were absolutely nails and boredom brought going down the barge the norm and unfortunately a lot of us got addiction problems from it , Hutchy another legend maylin all absolutely amazing anglers , so so pleased Richie is back and massive respect to the people that have been helping Richie. , Richie you are a legend mate !!
The man the Legend Ritchie Mcdonald An angler who inspired me from many years ago!! So glad he is keeping himself well. And big respect for dedicating the episode to Chris Ball another truly inspirational angler with his history of carp fishing from the early days to present RIP 🙏
The guy put the effort in back in the day and transformed how we saw big carp fishing. He might have lost the way for a bit, but he has fully earned the respect that the Korda guys and others are giving him, and it's great to see him being looked after. And to think some of this can be linked back to a stunning common from a scruffy lake in Colchester. Well done Damien for supporting our elder statesmen.
A true legend.. recovery is a long journey and you need that back up around you which sounds like u have a lot of people havin your back.. good luck and keep up the hard work 💪
Agreed 100%. Pop a few quid in guys. Keep actual hard work from non biased channels in the main stream. If you don’t then we will just end up with Carpology bollox and ad after ad. This is one of the only independent channels left on YT. Good work Joe.
Nice one joe wicked content just shows you mate those that no mate will no its exspirence and patience lovely to watch Ritchie he a mush never stops a true carp angler not many like him around anymore lovely man well done Joe awsome content.
Only found your vids a few days ago and I can say hand on heart, I love your content and the socials are awesome. Much appreciate all your doing mate. Top carping. And best of luck going forward. 👍🎣💪
Come on lads (and lasses), if everyone who commented on here gave a little we can ensure Joe keeps things on RUclips. Thanks for the great content Joe, always a pleasure watching your films, far more real than a lot of what is out there (all very samey samey and over produced). My only sub from now on. Keep up the good work mate.
You know what sitting here watching the legend that is Richy McDonald is bringing back so many memories of seeing him back in the day at gunsburry park apart from he hasn't had one by hand if you know you know. Now back to this epic video. Big respect Cee-Jay 🎣🎣🎣🎣
Hmm, thats interesting. I'm wondering now about just who it was that I ran into as a kid in Gunnersbury! I met Ritchie many times in Hounslow Angling and , of course, the society shows. He put me onto some great flavours and was a real character in the shop. Great to see him back and well done to Korda and all others that have made this happen.
Yes it's my second comment but I know how hard life has been for this legend . And to see him talk about his rocky road it makes me proud to have met him and know his family and one of my best mates Lee Mcdonald for Feltham. Massive respect to you joe and all the korda lads . Big love Cee-Jay 💚🎣🎣🎣
I love that Danny has taken it on himself to look after Ritchie, with people like Ritchie there would be no modern day carp angling. Ps love your films Joe!
Just got back from our yearly Intercorps army carp championships at Norton. Ritchie popped round to say hello, and we had a good chat, especially feeding. It was a 48hr match, with 2hrs to go, nothing. I'd put a bag on the margins, with boilie catapulted around it. New PB, 31lb 6oz and our team came second. Thanks Ritchie, Joe and all at Norton Disney 🤙
Oi Oi ! Superb show Joe, nice to see the old boy beating his demons & still out there doing it. Can’t believe that swim on The Mere gets left alone, used to be my favourite, Tall Tree ? Cheers mate 🍺👍🏻
Nice one Darren, not sure what that swims called to be honest… it’s the one with the island out to the left on the last section. Thanks for your support mate 🙏
Subscribed & donated! What an inspirational piece of content! I met Danny Fairbrass and couple of others at lost village festival but no sign of Ritchie!!❤
Mega my friend as always great content (you have to pay on other platforms for content like this) ... Ritchie is the man, great stuff loved every min of it ... xx
hey mate im over sixty and catching 100 plus cats on my own, my knees are knickered and it hurts to but im still aving it, i cannot stop myself as i love camping out and a good session over a few days, thanks for your effort and take care, i am just developing a zimmer frame buzzbar set up

Whats the best way to practice with a throwing stick? I bought one the other day, bloody useless at it. If you have seen the bouncing bomb, wasnt far off that lol. I fed every bit of the lake an the field behind apart from where i was actually trying to get the sods.
I bet if you’d have weighed that 29lb mirror properly for Ritchie it would have been a 30 I’m going to drop him a weighing bar In soon. I’ve got one that screws onto a storm pole or landing net pole so he won’t have to lift them up anymore

Yes, most people say it’s not the correct way to hold the scales but I’ve seen tests done ( on RUclips) with a variety of scales and generally it was making no difference . To me it’s another old wives tale that’s backed up by people who have never experimented to prove or disprove it !!
@slobguts I've spent a couple of hours looking at different videos and forums and they all say don't hold scales by the body the videos show false readings also ,but he's Richie Mcdonald he can do what he wants 😊 legend
@joe keep that message going with the one off details as I for one am happy to contribute a few quid. I do like what you produce in the content so try to keep it free as when you don't you'll lose followers. What happened to Leon?

Only one way… keep practicing, try and keep the stick roughly between two o’clock and ten o’clock if that makes sense, short sharp flick!
@@CarpAngle good advice. Just tried the short sharp flick. Lot better.

I’d love to do a session with Richie
Is it a 'Runs Water' ?
Or are there any 40's / 50's in it ?
We are not acquainted with the water ?
It looks like it should be a lovely mature water in a few years.
How old is it ?
CC.
Only been open a couple of years I think. There’s 40’s on the complex and a variety of waters with different levels of hardness.
