But when they go to the park they suddenly get still as a stone and they get this *intense* look in their eyes before they take off and start herding all the other dogs. @@MyUnquenchableThirst Should we not prioritize human life over animal? It's true that the well being of sentient creatures is inherently valuable sure, however is the well being of a pig not less valuable than the well being of a human? There is no way to feed the human population without killing something sentient. Even organic agriculture kills every animal in the area with plow and poison.
There is an argument that it *shouldn't* be this way, that there ought to be a way to support human life without killing animal or plant life, however just because it shouldn't be this way doesn't change the way it *is.* We currently have no way to feed the human population without killing animals. Until there is a genuine solution to this, things are the way they are.
Without a genuine solution the only courses of action are at the detriment of human well being, which isn't worth it.

I do agree with you but even inside one breed not all dogs are the same, there's always the exception to the rule, I've actually seen and heard of some Border Collies that were quite lazy lol
I live in an apartment and I have an almost 4 year old Border Collie. She is very energetic yes, but she's quick to calm down and go to sleep if no one is playing with her. She also is afraid of sheep and doesn't have any herding instincts, she just wants to fetch all the time. I also have an almost 11 year old Labrador and he's the laziest Labrador I've ever seen, and it's not just because of his age, he was always like that, he just wants to sleep. Of course he's even more lazy now, but even as a puppy or a young dog I would never have called him an energetic dog lmao

@@melanieyputo Collies are high energy by nature, yours probably isn’t lazy it just leaned to settle down when no one wanted to do anything with it (they’re very smart dogs!) Some may not do herding but they tend to love agility courses and being taught tricks, allows them to get that energy out!! If you’re living in an apartment and can’t really take your dog out often to play or anything than maybe you shouldn’t of gone for a high energy dog 😅 We have a similar situation with my mixbreed dog, stuff took a turn and now we’re living in an apartment; the other dogs we had a gone now and all she does is lay around. But the moment you get her harness or a ball she’s up ready to play! She just knows to settle down at home, plus I’m starting to worry she may be lonely..been asking my parents to pick her up a cat to keep her company.
Labs though are lazy asf 😂 At least until you get them in the mood to play but they tire out of it fast..my boyfriend has a lab who’s also quite lazy (though slightly less due the pointer he lives with, it’s a hunting dog) he wanted him to be a bird dog but no luck so far, the dog can barely pay attention. We do play a lot with her and we want to do agility with her for fun once we can afford it. She's more interested in fetching than anything else and yes she's very VERY smart. More than us I'm sure 😅
We didn't buy her or anything, she just kinda fel on our laps in a time that we needed a companion to our Labrador (because we lost his mother and he took it even harder than us since ever since he was born his mother was there) and we had to take her. What you said about the beautiful movement of the sheep like ripples on water inspired me to share an obscure fact of the ancient world. ( I studied ancient history).
We learn that Poseidon is the god of the sea, and he is. (According to the ancient Greeks of course.) But his realm is more subtle than just ocean. He is the god of flowing motion over the surface of the earth, the god of earthquakes moving over the land. He is the god of horses, that run together in great herds over the plains of Anatolia in that same breathtaking way as the waves of the sea, with thundering hooves racing on the earth.
I used to sit on a hilltop on our farm and watch the wind ripple over 80 acres of tall grass on a hot summer day. It was amazing to me.
I hope you don’t mind my comment. I love how the sheep move over the pasture.

Dogs are pack animals. They must hunt as a pack in the wild. Hunting requires them to chase and round-up one large animal within a herd for the kill. I guess the alpha(s) in the pack will decide which prey in the herd to kill.
This collie is doing similar, only the company to chase and round-up is a human (voice) instead of a pack of canine. Human is the alpha here and decide (instruct) to not kill any of the sheeps in the herd. Therefore, the collie is the herder only, and is fed by the higher but of a different species alpha good puppy food (good, and not inferior puppy food of course!). They are always puppies to me.

I don’t imagine that scenario to be much better than when my neighbor took home a Labrador/Husky mix puppy with two adults four children and a new baby in a condo. Destined for life in a dog crate before even being potty trained. Constantly fluctuating between overstimulation and being punished for becoming more agile and active. The dog would be left all day with a sitter for the baby who I swear left him tied outside to a heavy grill teetering on their retaining wall. He was all tangled up in his leash, and since it could have fallen on him, I decided to knock on their door. The sitter said she wasn’t good with dogs that’s why he was out there, and I spent a good ten minutes hanging onto him while I got him untangled. I swear they seemed like they were trying to kill him from the moment they took him home he just got worse. He would Constantly pull when walked and whine incessantly when he was left alone for hours in that crate. Sometimes I would just sit on my porch and talk to him through the window and that seemed to calm him down. It’s hard when you know an animal is being not only mistreated by someone, but being made so fractious and unmanageable by an abuser that a perfectly healthy puppy can no longer be placed with anyone afterwards. It’s like this animal version of ‘if I can’t have you no one will’ that those types of abusers try to isolate those animals from anyone that tries to reach out. First they ‘re-homed’ him... then he came back so he gets his hopes up... then they spend that time constantly reminding him of how he might have to be ‘put down’. I believe that was the ONLY subject of conversation in his final days with them.
I never saw my friend Jackson again😾😢😿
