    I wish I had a nickel for every time I said "Ahhh ok!" during this video. hahaha The cherry on top was after showing the manual illistrations, you went to a real bike to show what it looks like on the bike. That was the big "Ahhh ok!!! " You rock Doc! Thanks

    After getting the oil level correct in the primary I took a wide popsicle stick dropped it in between the case and the clutch all the way to the bottom of the case took a Sharpie made a line across the stick at the oil level. I now have a primary dipstick. My primary calls for approximately 32 oz. At service time I drain the primary put a quart of oil in insert my homemade dipstick the oil level is always right at the Mark I made the first time with the Sharpie. It seems to make it easier for me. Keep up the good work.

    I have not changed the oil in my primary on my M8 as of yet but on both an EVO and a Twin Cam I owned for over 20 years, over 100k on the EVO and 85k on the twin cam I just installed a Qt. on the wet services. I never had a problem and both bikes still had the original clutches in them. Looks like that will work on the M8 for me as well.

    Another good reason to have the primary vent installed on older M8's. Tranny oil sucks into the primary case raising the level.

    To add I believe primary and Trans are supposed to be checked when bike is level. Engine oil is checked when leaning on stand. Both trans and engine oil dipsticks are not to be screwed in to check level, but unscrewed, wiped clean then simply reinserted briefly without screwing back in.

    Lifter oil holes on a twin cam 88...towards the motor, towards the outside, or pointing towards each other? I found it in the manual but nobody really seems to know. If it's like the manual says then mine came from the factory wrong...bought it off the showroom floor.

    • @LowCountryHarleyDavidson
      @LowCountryHarleyDavidson  2 года назад +1

      The placement of hole is a nice idea but the clearance of lifter to bore and oil pressure has more influence. I think it is odd that the entrance hole in the case is on the side but the recieving hole on the lifter is front or back depending how they were installed....Doc
