Listened to the rendering of this fantastic Kriti by Late MS Amma. Every it stimulates a fresh thought/a new dimension about the composition itself.Feel I am blessed.
I agree with the sentiments. VN sir is brilliant. The richness is also enhanced by brilliant handling, especially of the 'thopi' by TKM sir by the intelligent prayogams of solkattus and 'appropriate' shadow playing by ghatam legend, Vikku Vinayakaram sir. Great team work by the 'pak(k)a' vaadhyams in embellishing the great rendition by MS amma. These clips serve as indispensable learning tools for aspiring musicians.
Confronted with lots of jewellary etc by King Sambhoji, Saint tyagaraja questions himself about the futility of wordly possessions before rejecting them outright. It is practical vedanta at its height.
Ashish Iyer, nothing wrong if Carnatic musicians sing for cinemas. Smt M S Subbulaxmi herself sang six songs in the movie Shakuntala, in which she also acted as Shakuntala, in 1940, when she was 23- 24 years old. She also sang and acted in the movie Meera. A few other great Carnatic vocalists in the 1930's also sang for cinemas. Yesh Prabhu, Bushkill, Pennsylvania
