"Always bring 3-4 sound guys in case you go through a few of them when you're recording" 🤣🤣🤣

Thanks for saying that everything needs to be slated. I was on a student film where they got annoyed that I wanted to do that. (I stood my ground and got what I wanted, but always great to be able to refer to a true professional how it should be done).
Ps. do you have any tips on how to record heavy breathers? It's a lot of work to sit through editing trying to edit out all that panting manually.

I love the detail to attention in film sound recording. It shows just how much effort is needed to get that fantastic movie theatre sound. Many thanks.
I can’t wait to get out with a recorder and try those ideas out now for myself!

Loved this! Thanks for the tips! I’ll likely be seen today holding my boom with a ride blimp out my window… seems safe.

Alex! This was a really fun video to watch. That all looks like so much fun, especially the rock-backstop, dust-inhaling, hat-burning, ruin-your-gear stuff... SO fun! Kidding aside, I wish I were a bit younger when I started getting into videography! Being able to do this for a living would be a dream job for sure! Thanks for all your sharing of your insights. Avid watcher of your videos. Thank Potato Head! 😉😆

Hi Alex, great video. Was wondering if you can put together a video about mixing vocal/narration with background music.

Great vid on 🎬🎙, love the BTS, look forward to being able to "hear" about the movie when the NDA lifts. (And good drone work in PJ's video 😜)

How do you choose what mic capsule to use in the stereo pair? The most common stereo sets are cardioids but when do you consider to use the Omni capsules? I have an Audio Technica AT4053B Hypercardioid for indoor recording. Now I have an idea to buy used Audio-Technica AT4049b Omni ($400) and to order directly from AT (2x$250) matching cardioid capsules (by serial #). That way I can have 2 mics with 2x cardioids 1 omni and 1 hyper-cardioid capsules under 1500$ total cost.
Could you advise on a stereo mics wind protection? Rycote BBG Windshield can be used only for ORTF but what to use with XY? XY Only possible with compact mics and Rycote Stereo Cyclone XY?

A bit of an off topic, what is the right order to improve voice ? EQ first and compression second ? or compress first and then EQ ? Thanks alex great videos.

What were you using as wind protection for the lav mics? Just the Rycote overcovers?

Wow that's and a great BTS. Thanks for sharing your experience! I have some ideas/questions for future episodes =) Could you please share your top 10 most used equipment? Do you have any tips for "beginner kit" for indy style SFX/solo recordist? The recorder is the easiest part to choose (sound devices 3/6/10ii) but the hardest are mics. What mics kit/set would you pick for an essential indy kit?

How often is your vehicle related sound ruined by your screams of terror? Or do you have a notch filter for that?
