I just want to know what’s all forged in the kit I was considering doing a forged 6.0 kit on My LS but if this is more affordable for the same amount of power then I’d rather go this route. The Technician My corvette is at had said that My SBC has some pretty strong heads . Someone throw me a bone feel free to comment on my post it would be very helpful
383 are nice, lots of torque. Clearance machining is required. I was always a fan of a destroked 454 to a 427. The extra 100 pounds didn't hurt my feelings. Great job but, It urks me seeing raw surfaces touched by bare hands. The oil on your fingers will not allow the zinc in the oil to absorb properly. It might not make a huge difference but that's how I was taught. Other that that perfect example 👌
the issue with a stroker will be clearing the sides of the block's crankcase area, otherwise stock oil pans fit 400 chevies and the crank is similar. btw, the way to check for clearance is install the oil pump, torque it down, and put a big blob of clay on it and then torque down the oil pan. don't even bother with a gasket just yet, but shine a flashlight into the crankcase--if light shines out, your oil pan rails need to get flattened out so it will seal perfect. then take off the 'pan and measure how much the blob of clay got compressed.
I'm building a 383 for my 1985 gmc k2500, im doing internally balanced 1 peice rear main. which flywheel do I need, an oem or should I upgrade im stuck on that and the harmonic balancer
Hey man I was thinking 🤔 about making a video Of my small block chevy build. How much money have you made from this video 🤔 ❓ Some videos make thousands of dollars???
You made it look so easy I feel like I can build a motor myself
I told my wife I put together a 383 stroker today. She was proud
And under 5min you can have a fully built 383 stroker! Hell yes!!!😂

That's ok i'm putting my Sonoma together in the barn with a dirt floor.
Why do you install cyl#2 piston opposite?
Perfect, think I'll build one this evening before supper !!!
Now,,,this is my favorite engine! 383 stroker..I had one on the street in a 81 Z28 Cameron 4 speed ,,There was No end to RPM..& Plus NOS,,
Bro this video helped me so much for my 1981 Camaro build
Thanks Luke Sowby, I guess you have to put up one of everything.
Looks like you have a sweet shop 👍

So top of the line parts except for cheap Chinese rods and pistons 🤣😂🤣
@@jjmccloud the uhh… rods are scat tho, like, you sound so fucking stupid it’s not even funny
Sounds a lot like my build....was going to go with AFR 195 CC heads, why did you go with 200cc heads, and do you like that choice?
when i was a kid i went from a 350 to a 383. i couldn't believe the difference torque
Mopar also made a 396 stroker from the 340 and the 360 SB
Cool. We just built same stroker. 383. 202 heads and gear driven. Sweeet small blocks. Beautiful stuff
Nice video. ASMR
Cool. Good job!!!
Nice build, I would have liked to see you degree the camshaft.
It’s not hard and it’s only to verify that the cam meets the specs on the card, unless you’re racing. Dot to dot for an off the shelf cam is fine.
@@Cultofpersonality09129 false
Luke you can do Dat fa real it's like you probably done that ah 1000 times
Where can i find 1 ready to put together like this 😂 0 prep work and straight to assembly sounds like my kind of build
How is the double breather system working for crank case ventilation? No engine leaks?
Works perfectly
How much horsepower did you get out of that engine
I just want to know what’s all forged in the kit

How much did this build cost you and where did you get the parts?
Probably around 4-5k
Can get all the parts off of holley and summit racing most likley

Did you have to notch the block for 383? Thanks
Badass engine!!
Yes.
I might have missed it but I'm tripping on that intake what is it!
Holy sniper sheet metal intake
I’m in the middle of this project, what camshaft did you use?
Did you degree the cam? Is it necessary?
Are the connecting rod journals bigger than stock and if so what are the rods and pistons you used with wrist pin location and rod length?
Rcgene do u work other motor are your build for yourself
what was the bob weight?
Love that intake!! Who’s it from?
Holley Sniper
so I heard a stock oil pan won't work for a stroker, im building one and I want to know where you got it! thanks
Never heard of that , it should work

As long as your oil pump clears it will work. I’ve never ran into that issue with a SBC

You have to have one with a weight for a 383.
What brand cam and what stage you put in it
What happened to degree a camshaft?
Not every detail was recorded. This is just a quick short video
Hey man

How much block grinding g did you have to do?
Whats it going in?
1972 K20
Wow, sweet. Just put a stroker in my 79 K20.
how many horsepower? torque?
Enough
Probably about 450hp and 500ftlbs of torque
You didnt dial it in or clock the rings or at least make sure they dont line up together.
Yes I did. I didn’t add every little detail to the video. I know how to build an engine. This is just a shortened down quick version.
@@lukesowby you really should point that out some people go by what they watch.
I love how of all the things left out of the video, clocking the rings was the big concern 😂😂😂
Why do people use chrome parts?! Do you just want to guarantee it leaks??
They are just aluminum
@@viperford6840 The oil pan, timing cover, and valve covers are aluminum?
@@Pistol148 mine are. Aluminum-alloy
did u plastigage?
Yes. There’s lots of details that weren’t filmed.
What is the intake manifold?
Love that intake!! Did you get an answer?
Those 383's are a good motor! Checkout my channel I'm working on a 62 T-bird
Cam goes in first. Ehh who am I.
Should have fired it up
Never fired it up
