From Sterlin Harjo and Taika Waititi, Reservation Dogs is a half-hour comedy that follows the exploits of four Indigenous teenagers in rural Oklahoma who steal, rob and save in order to get to the exotic, mysterious and faraway land of California. the smudging, native slang, how we deal with death, the spirituality, native beading, deer lady, residential school, hunting, medicine. everything is just pure indigenous and it fills my heart up that we finally have something to represent our people

I like the fact that they are genuine youth actors. Not polished adults in children’s bodies. I think this will keep them from becoming messed up in the future.

It seems to hit us Natives hard when a family member passes. +200 years of isolation from our Ancient Ways still doesn't break the connection we have to each other, the land, etc.
Hopefully you'll help to release some of that Ancestral trauma. Your Elders will thank you. They're around you, at all times. All you need to do is call upon them for assistance and guidance.
Even 200+ years ago it was taken hard, ancient ways of grieving included a lot of self mutilation, cutting, lashing yourself, pulling out your own hair etc...
@@Bigkoob Yes, Tlingit here - we've almost lost our language, and many other things because of how we've been treated, compounding that with the dwindling numbers... Each and every loss makes a much bigger impact.

Before my grandmother passed she made me promise to never cut off my hair, for survival she had to hide what she was and didn't want that for me. She died from COVID and my twin sister not too long after. I have have never wanted to shave my head so badly just to keep with tradition, but I didn't because I wanted to keep my promise to her more.
LOVE this show.
This show deserves all the recognition in the world. I truly hope it opens up a floodgate of stories about these communities. The world of art and movies will be better off for it

I love making fun of my older sisters about the aunties episode, because they did the exact same thing when they were young. Before they became the aunties themselves.

Fantastic show. I hate that this is the last season. It's like a classic that will be watched over and over.
Not enough good things to say about this wonderfully enlightening show. Provides me with a view into a world which I never experienced and knew little about. I love all the characters, Bear, Big, Willie, Enora. Too many to mention. Fun to watch and educational too. A perfect blend. My sincere thanks go out to all the cast, the crew, the writers, everyone. You have made me better. Kisses to you all!!

Hats off to all these kids who are amazing actors and the whole cast who are amazing actors. The producers the editors everyone involved. This series has really helped me to learn about navigating through some dark things in my own life, and I’m not even native, so I can only imagine what it means for their community. The show has real substance and I love it so much. Can’t wait for next week!!!

The aunties wide net episode is my absolute favorite! Had me in stitches the entire time. I've watched about 5 times since airing. What an amazing show, cast, story! Sorry to see it go but I'm excited to see where everyone goes ❤
This show was so incredibly touching. I haven't watched anything that's made me switch from laughing to crying to laughing again so many times. I love it so much. I'm also so impressed by everyone who worked on this show, they did an excellent job
I remember hearing about this Native teen that was in foster care going from home to home that jumped off of this overpass onto the freeway. I thought about it every time I crossed it... 😢
A lot of Native kids were shuffled around foster care because non native families could get more money from the government if they adopted a Native kid as opposed to a black kid or white kid

I was just on a prepper chat with 2 indian women and I asked them if they watched it. Neither had heard of it but they said they'd check it out. They also both didn't know the other was native, lol. Now they're celebrating the synchronicity because it's a very small chat at this point, about a dozen regular members. Was pretty cool. 🎉

I am white white. Like 99.5% European (0.3% Native American) but this show is one of the best shows on TV. I'm sad that it's over and sad that more people don't know about it.

This show was one of the best parts of my week. I love every character and miss them terribly. Taika Waititi makes the absolute best shows. What We Do in the Shadows and Our Flag Means Death, are favorites.

It was only meant to be a limited series. To take the characters up to the end of high school, before they go their separate ways. I agree, that it’s a great show and it’s too bad it’s over, but I look forward to watching it over again.
