Add "&fmt=18" for the high-resolution version. From THE DICK CAVETT SHOW. June 25, 1970. Raquel Welch talks about dreams. Janis Joplin talks about Zelda Fitzgerald.
you all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account?? I somehow lost the login password. I would love any help you can give me.
I have Gunga Din. But I have also seen 'The Fighting O'Flynn' and 'Having A Wonderful Time'. I often think Orlando Bloom took a lesson from Fairbanks, Jr.
Not only a great character but also a great WW2-hero. I remember seeing Fairbanks Jr on "Dame Edna" in 1989-90s. It was hilarious and he seemed to enjoy himself greatly.
Douglas Fairbanks Jr seems to have all the suave and sophistication of a knight! In this interview, at least, he carries himself rather poised and elegant.
I love how Fairbanks looks so comfortable with Janis. They came from totally different histories - yet he listens to her with interest and professionalism. He keeps his attention on her face -and not on her unusual attire …Rowby
Hardly unusual for someone with good manners however alarming , ghastly , tedious etc the other person might be . Just plain old fashioned good manners which many of us have but alas , no longer exists today in amongst the majority . Thus it’s no surprise that people express surprise.
Agreed--Raquel Welch is going on and on about acrobats and ballerinas & Janis is talking about what she's learned about Zelda Fitzgerald from her reading. Janis seems "tuned in" to me...
OH YEA! AND JANIS! J.Joplin wz a frequent guest on Cavett, many times with Gloria Swanson. I find it amazing to see Janis cavorting with all the different personalities Cavett had on his show - such influences in the genre of time.
ScoutCrafter she was rebellious of the times, spoked her mind and was very much her own person, she wasnt into the whole hollywood scene, she thought they were fake, and all uppity uppity up. And she was humble and played music, one of the Greatest voices ever! And was a rhythm and blues and jazz and soul/rock singer and never really was fond of Hollywood elitists. She was always thinking out of the box and didn't do what society expect from her. She looked at them like normal people. Janis was living the Rock "N" Roll live style, she probably was thinking who the hell are these people, they are so not my people. She was never impressed with glamorous and conceited Hollywood and the fake English voices of the people from theater, also Raquel Welch was very conceited and looked down on Janis Joplin who was a true icon of music back then.
@@junegiovanni6475 I thought it was telling that Fairbanks, who was also an independent thinker, listened quite intently to Joplin while seeming bored by Welch.
Fairbanks. Suave, authentic, and has fathers ebullient smile. Raquel voice wonderful. So poised and elegant...kind of at delightful odds with her sex symbol appearance. Janis a Fitzgerald fan! Who knew. Everybody's always deeper than we think.
Holy monkeys... Janice Joplin and Raquel Welch on this show along with D.B. Cooper. This has got to be one of Dick Cavett best shows.....? Janice Joplin looks like Ozzy Ozbourne...wonder if they're related in some far off unrelated way. Raquel talking about sparkles and twirling. Wonder if she liked the song rhinestone cowboy. Maybe she was related to Glenn Campbell....questions with no apparent answers just drifting in space like a car with a crash dummy in it. And D.B. Cooper, what's there to say about him. 😶
Fairbanks' father was one of the greatest of all American personalities and "stylists," to cite one of those Time Magazine terms (even a broken clock is right twice a day), on a level with John Wayne and Cary Grant. The fantastic movie "The Artist" did the impossible by capturing his joie de vivre and energy. His son couldn't begin to measure up but then who could? By the way, look at the way Cavett round-tables the conversation. His talk show was so much better than Johnny Carson's.
Joplin just happened to be around at the height of the self destructing drug era, at any other time in history she wouldn't have had a career in music... Welch (who is quite intelligent) was trying too hard to be witty... When you're as beautiful as she is people tend to listen to you ramble no matter what incoherent gibberish comes out of your mouth! ;) Fairbanks was amazing...
Very conceited and stuck up, Janis Joplin was the real true talent of them both, she is a icon of music, Raquel was only a sex symbol and a average actress. Janis Joplin was the Greatest singer of her time and was a rhythm and blues and Jazz/ rock singer...A real talent. Yeah I think Raquel Welch was beautiful but very fake and her voice is so actressey and staged, trying to speak with a theater voice. She is Latina but so white washed and fake. She is trying to to heard to be boogie. I would never put up a front, if I was in Hollywood, just be your genuine self and talk normal. She has that very stuck up voice.
God why is bloody Janis Joplin on all of these shows with Merv Griffin etc????? She was also on the show with Gloria Swanson; and was really rude to Ms Swanson! And here she is yet again! Jeez!
Douglas Fairbanks,Jr., was still so gorgeous here !! I just adore him and what a combination of guests together!! It's a great show
What a beautiful man. That smile! They don’t make them like that anymore....
Pure class. Something long, long gone from Hollywood.
What a legend! sinbad was one of first films I watched as a young child. RIP
Douglas Fairbanks Jr, one of the Greatest!!💞💞
Fairbanks was still adorable at 61.
seywhut2985 he was 60 in 1970, but he looks like a his late father.
He even looks like an older version of his Dad!! That same smile...
Oh , Fairbanks, jr. , was better looking than his father , but they were both gorgeous
Agree. The son was much, much handsomer.
Douglas Fairbanks Jr was easily the most handsome man in his early films.
I have crushed on Doug since I was a little girl and I still do. Whenever a movie he's in is on TCM I always set my dvr to watch.
Still amazingly handsome in 1970
you all probably dont give a shit but does any of you know a way to log back into an Instagram account??

@Lorenzo Jax instablaster :)

Ah. So handsome. I had a crush on him. One of the most beautiful senior citizen men ever.
Douglas Fairbanks Jr seems to have all the suave and sophistication of a knight! In this interview, at least, he carries himself rather poised and elegant.
Cavett was a smoother intellectual..great interviewer....not many were like him...
He was the most boring interviewer of all time! Smh
He was a handsome young man and an even more handsome older man!
WHAT A DIFFERENCE 23 YEARS CAN MAKE...I JUST WATCHED CAVETT'S 1993 INTERVIEW WITH FAIRBANKS....HE PASSED IN 2000 AT THE AGE OF 91....
I love how Fairbanks looks so comfortable with Janis. They came from totally different histories - yet he listens to her with interest and professionalism. He keeps his attention on her face -and not on her unusual attire …Rowby
Fairbanks,Jr., was a class act totally!! He was just a cut above most celebrities, and one of a kind. We won't see his like again !! Sadly
Hardly unusual for someone with good manners however alarming , ghastly , tedious etc the other person might be . Just plain old fashioned good manners which many of us have but alas , no longer exists today in amongst the majority . Thus it’s no surprise that people express surprise.
Fairbanks sr basically invented the action adventure genre, and the superhero genre.
He's so classy, a gentleman. Raquel Welch is so beautiful
Fairbanks speaks eloquently. Raquel seems to be talking but nothing comes out.
Agreed--Raquel Welch is going on and on about acrobats and ballerinas & Janis is talking about what she's learned about Zelda Fitzgerald from her reading. Janis seems "tuned in" to me...
Douglas Fairbanks Jr AND Janis Joplin on the same TV talk show episode? Yow.
Dashing, debonair, ladiesman...o yes! Doug Jr, my forever crush.❤ Soldiers in war...they dont tell about their heroics.
Totally agree with you!
Class act.
A real man!!!
Sadly, Dick is the only one on this panel still with us. Time marches on!
OH YEA! AND JANIS! J.Joplin wz a frequent guest on Cavett, many times with Gloria Swanson. I find it amazing to see Janis cavorting with all the different personalities Cavett had on his show - such influences in the genre of time.
LIZZIE SANGI Sangi I can't believe Janis Joplin was only 27 at the time of her death. So bright.
fairbanks es un as! simpaticón y divino. janis, te adoro bocha; lástima la pilcha. gracias x postear!
amazing here are Douglas Fairbanks jr and Janis Joplin appearing together
60's was such a decade
oh, it's 1970. excuse me, haha
Fairbanks was awesome! Joplin was a trainwreck... ;). Great video

what a great show
Dick was the consummate interviewer. He is a classic.

what does janis ssay at 40 secs? somethin about wesson oil?
How could he possibly follow up on that show.
Holy monkeys...

And D.B. Cooper, what's there to say about him. 😶
Joplin really did have some talent, listen to her last album
Janis had less than 40 days to live here

I don't agree about Janis Joplin as she was very talented and would have made it in any era or time
Janis looks almost freakish next to that pleasant and elegant gentleman actor ...
lo q no termino de entender es por qué raquel susurra así cuando habla.. en fin, cada loco con su tema, no? :)
That's a very tan man right there.
He could show old Trump a thing or two about "tanning". 🙂
who's the female showing a yard of leg?
That's Raquel Welch. That's how we wore our dresses back in the late 60s, early 70s. They were basically the length of belts.
Check out Janis too!!
it's ok, i.ve put my glasses om
Wow, you could smoke on tv and legs to look at
Man, Raquel is even more insufferable than I remember.
Yes, she seems very full of herself. Hard to listen to her. I think Fairbanks couldn't stand her either.

How was she rude to La Swanson? Rather it was Gloria giving frostbite to Janis.
thats befor my team ;(
Raquel Welch seems very flaky, and fake
