Gears and Beers is a fantastic event , I’m a wagga resident and the gravel riding here is excellent. One change from road riding I would recommend is to a use a camelbak instead of water bottles , much easier to get a drink on a rough gravel road .
Very nice mate! Subscribed. Yes gears and beers is awesome I’m going this year 4th or 5th time. You can race (no timing or awards and I’ve ended up finishing to quickly) or you can enjoy the atmosphere and have an awesome time! 🍻
Cheers mate, much appreciated. That sounds like solid advice. I can't imagine I will be racing this one. In for the good times, and trying to remain injury free.
Gravel is fun!!! I do it on my road bike. Admittedly I do it slowly. My poor bike has even been ridden on easy single track. I have even ridden a comfort bike around a BMX track and got some air. So basically, my advice is to have fun. A KOM is never a waste of time if you want to do it.
Good enough for the pros, they roll gravel on roadies with 32mm tyres. KOMs are fun, but they are everywhere and often meaningless to anyone who isn’t local 😂.
Try Murray’s Run Rd in the Hunter region. Lots of smooth gravels in there. I did that on my road bike completely accidentally by following the GPS for a quieter road.
If I’m not mistaken you’re on the Northern Beaches….there are loads of fire trails around Terry Hills, Davidson, St Ives and Belrose. It’s easy to do 50-80km loops. The thing I like about gravel is that you are away from cars so you can cruise along in nature. I find it a really relaxing change from the performance focus of training on the road bike.
I was going to say that whilst also gravel curious my biggest barrier is the lack of access ... I don't want to drive to a ride. But as a N.Beaches resident then that's good to know.
@@ModerateCyclisttry any of the following fire trails; Cascades, Bare Creek, Heath, Larool, Neverfail Gully, Sandy, Perimeter, Duck Holes, Chiltern. Do them in that order for a great loop starting in Forestville/Davidson and finishing in Mona Vale/Warriewood
Thanks for the shout out! Nice work on the KOM :P
Thanks mate, gotta take’em where you can. I think your recent gravel adventure exemplifies the spirit.

That is great advice. What is the vibe like in Wagga when the event is on?
Nice vibe , lots of bike riders about
That is what was great about Peaks. Everyone there is there to ride / talk about bikes. 👨🍳💋
Big love dude! thanks for the shoutout! Lets hit the gravel together one day soon!
No worries dude, love your channel. Saw the new one drop, looking forward to watching it tonight. Keen as once I am up and running.
Also Mate! The aspero! Best bike ever made 🖤
I did have a look at Cevelo too. There is a new mob in Narrabeen who stock them.

Give gravel a go, it's fun. Wagga is a great weekend.
Seems that way. Good mix-up to regular training.

Unless the trails are in champagne condition you’ll want chunkier tyres, like 40-50mm is best for Sydney and surrounds
Definitely tongue in cheek about the pros, those guys are insane.
Oh, and 800-900W!!! 😵🤩
Go you good thing…
Great collab boys! Where’s LKD been?!
Great and timely video as I’m thinking exactly the same thing at the moment…
Enjoy whatever you ride♥️
Thanks mate. I agree, it's about time we saw another LKD video.
I recently got a Checkpoint ALR5, I really like it
I had a good look at the Trek's. I wanted to see the new Checkmate, but they didn't have any in store yet.
Have you decided what gravel bike you’re going to get?
Yeah dude, I have... Working on the video for it now 🤫

Thanks for the tip. I will have to check it out.

Let me know if you have some route suggestions.
