ANOTHER (4th) METHOD: Irish Dancers use Sock Glue to keep their socks up on their calves, and as an ex Irish Dancer myself i tend to use it for my cosplay stockings as well! Its like a roll on glue stick and you can find them at any Irish Dance store (online)! Pros: - easy to apply - can stay on for an entire day (if its not too warm) - can be removed by soaking your legs in hot water or using a cloth soaked in warm water - also works for long gloves, arm cuffs or accessories you wanna keep from slipping down your arms Cons: - bit expensive (but lasts super long) -> you can also use normal Pritt or glue sticks as a substitute, though it doesn't stick as long) - on very warm con days you might have to reapply once or twice during the day to help them stay up

For anyone who isn't confident in sewing: there are pantyhose you can buy that have a thigh high stocking design. So if you're only looking for the basic black thigh highs, that is also an option.
Sadly, the only stockings like that I ever found are always in Asian sizes, so it never feels comfortable when the bigger size is not really what you need :/
@@Bane_Amesta I have a pair from Pamela Mann, which is a legwear company in the UK. Their sizes are made for western women and they have international shipping. The other pair I have I don't remember the brand of, but I bought it over Amazon and was happy with them as well. I'm 5"9, so I understand your struggle with asian sizes.
How in the frick did you manage to just slide the pins through the pantyhose and stocking without stabbing yourself or pinching the material away from yourself? Dang, magic!
Another thing I've tried was adding snaps to my stockings/boots covers and to my tights. That way i can change them out depending on the cosplay instead of having to make multiple pairs of pantyhose with specific covers. Just make sure you space the snaps evenly and you wont have any/much tugging or bunching.
I'd like to point out that with tape or adhesives, one can risk irritating the skin or allergies! Personally I've tried fashion tapes, but every single time, my skin gets red and itchy (unfortunately). As for adhesives (stay on for socks) I've had success wearing it on top of stockings (sheer ones, does not work on higher denier ones).
Completely the sew onto pantyhose method is the best. If you have time and are willing to invest in it, it really is the most reliable source. And then you can wear them for different cosplays or whenever you feel like it without them ending up at your ankles. 5minutes!?!?! More like every freaking 5 seconds! They don’t stay up otherwise! Good video, highly entertaining and informative
I've developed an allergy to things like fashion tape and bandaids (and possibly other adhesives; not looking forward to figuring out which ones), so seeing how the pantyhose method is done is suuuuuuuuuuuper helpful. Thank you!
The best thing imo is to sew them onto pantyhose. But finding them in the right skin -colour but enough density so they dont just rip when you try to sew on them or when the two materials are connected is hard. When you re not a size S anyways.
I always look for stockings that have the silicone elastic already attached for the very reason that I was tired of them falling down. I do find that after so much washing they wear out, but they usually wear out about the time I want to replace my stockings anyway. One method that my grandmother shared with me in high school was spraying hairspray on my legs before putting pantyhose on, and a lady I worked with also shared with me that she used deodorant at the top of stockings, and that she even used it with regulars ankle-high socks because she hated when they would come down, too.
The pantyhose is also my favorite! I've also made good experiences with cutting off the sock part if they're stockings I'm wearing inside a shoe. That way my foot doesn't pull on the stocking and they hold up much better.
This video somehow found me just when I was thinking of buying new thigh high stockings. Thank you so much for these tips! I love that you showed us the difference with and without the hacks. Not everyone takes the time to show how it works. I personally like to use garters and garterbelts, but these are great ideas for stealth stay-up stockings.
So I used the sewing method and if you have thick thighs and are sewing something that has a lil stretch to the pantyhose that is gonna have to stretch a lot the pin method does not hold well when you take it off to sew So instead I took 4 safety pins and secured them at 4 points and that worked wayyy better at keeping things in place and knowing how much to stretch when sewing (and you only have to poke yourself 4 times )
Oh my gosh!! The intro was so cute and relatable!! The last step of attaching thigh highs directly to the pantyhose is so clever. I love it! I would never be able to tell they were sewn on. 💙
Oml I need this video for my Ibuki cosplay because my legs are skinny as hell and the stockings just go zoooooom down my legs halfway through making a video or taking a photo, NOT FUN!! Thank you for making this though as I think many other Danganronpa cosplayers feel my pain, especially my fellow Ibuki’s :>
For tape / glue, there is another con: Some people can have an allergic reaction to the adhesive. I get hives from the adhesive in medical tape or bandages, so I've never used body glue / tape. I have had issues with stockings in the past though, so thank you for sharing these alternative methods.
There's a couple of issues with the silicone band method for method 2 to keep in mind. 1) Again, hot days they won't do as well. Any amount of moisture, even faint, will make the silicone lose its grip. 2) It may sound weird but it doesn't really work on anyone with really soft thighs. It will stay for all of 5 minutes and then slip down while pulling at your skin. That was a very painful lesson I learned the hard way. XD
The third option is my favorite by far. I would’ve never thought of doing that at all. Thank you so much for making this video. Keep being awesome my friend!
I've done the body tape method for my Mitsuri cosplay. It didn't really work well for the socks because I have thick calves so it ended up falling down ten minutes later while I was shooting pictures. So it really depends on body type🤷🏽♀️
I’m tiny but they slipped down for me as well while I was Miku. That specific brand in the video as well. I just don’t think it’s made for this job. Tape and fabric just don’t stick well..
I also have thick calves (as well as thighs), and I have used the "It Stays!" roll on body adhesive from Sock Dreams. I've used it a few times now and my thigh highs stay on all day even with lots of walking and movement. I definitely recommend that over the tape.
THANK YOU! As a member of the Thick Chick Click I've been looking for other ways to keep mu thigh highs up because they so so well with cosplay and kawaii fashion. These are much easier than some other methods I've seen.
Additional con for glue, tape and silicone are allergies. I got burns wich turned to puss bubbles that burst and became open wounds, it was extremely painful and left scars. So for anyone who has allergies to anything unnatural (either ingested or via skin contact) I advise you to try those methods as a little patch in hardly visible place before using them for a full day.
For stockings you need to use a garter belt. Thigh highs already come with two rows of silicone to hold them in place. For socks, get elasticated tops or wear shorter socks Sorted

OMG! This video was so helpful. I'm a cosplayer and struggle with keeping my thigh highs up I will definitely be using the last method. Thank you soo much
I know of another method to hold on thigh high stockings. There is a water soluble roll on body adhesive called "IT STAYS" that can be rolled on to the thigh section of the leg, and then the top of the stocking can be pulled up over the section of the leg that has the "IT STAYS" applied to it. The reason that I am aware of this is because I use thigh length compression medical stockings for my varicose veins. And I use the "IT STAYS" to keep these compression stockings from slipping down. "IT STAYS" comes in a 2 oz. / 60 ml. plastic bottle.
I'm not a cosplayer but i wear stockings and even with silicone they fall off :'( i'm gonna try the tape method combined to them or else i'd have to wear suspender
Ya better be careful your “hello siri” isn’t on. It listens in on everything you say until you say hi siri to activate it. This may not be the reason, but it’s possible.
I did the fashion tape once. It worked for a while at first but inevitably it started to loose its stick so I had to replace the tape, but when you gotta wrap your leg in tape in a cramped bathroom stall with a toilet your work tends to not be very good. I ended up messing it up pretty bad and had to retape them like three times in one hour before I gave up and just let them fall down my legs all the way to my ankles. It was the end of the day anyways and I was gunna leave soon.
So i have a forth method i like to use. Its honestly the elastic method but with just regulare elastic, and instead of sewing it to the inside of the stocking i basically use it like a garter. I first measure the elastic on my self to get the correct sizing. I sew the ends over laping buy hand to have a strong hold. I then put on my thigh highs and add my "thigh cuffs as i call them" over the top of the sock and begin to fold them down twice making sure to tuck the sock around the elastic. They arnt perfect but the work in a pinch and they stay up longer than if you went wearing them.
I feel like the last method is the best. I’ve heard the fashion tape doesn’t work great for those with larger legs but I’m a very tiny person with twig legs and the fashion tape also sucked for me. It just rolls and falls off and it hurts to take off. I don’t think it’s made for holding up thigh highs through walking around or dancing like some will do. And the elastic method isn’t great either. After the first few uses it doesn’t stick to your skin and falls down. So yeah, I’d honestly say the last method is the only method that truly works. Though skin glue could work too, I’ve not tried it personally
Here is another method. One can use see-through bra straps and attach them to a belt or a converted suspender-belt and then slip/hook them them (four, two at the back and two at the front) into pre-made loops on the inside of the stocking. It works wonders for me and I can jump around, run, squat and they stay in place.
You can buy the stocking effect pantyhose without the need and time to layer them n see them and keep your cost to the absolute minimum or simply wear 1 size up thigh high which apparently don’t fall down either.

I don't cosplay any character that wears thigh high or knee high socks bur i need this for a casual day
I use the 4th method (the pantyhose methood) a lot for my cosplays and it's the best!
You could also sew velcro on the pantyhose and the inside of the stocking :)
Yessssss! I needed this! Thank you!
You're so welcome!

Im getting thigh highs so this will help im also getting asuna cosplay (originally from sword art online but im getting the ALO version) and that outfit has thigh high so these are good tips
I dont do cosplay but i know the problem ( i have a very extragavant clothing style that some may confuse with cosplay , thats why i know the problem....) i use garthers by the way, and thats ok because i dont wear a costume that doesnt allow it....
I’m literally wearing thigh highs right now and o really need this
Thank u for this it was so so helpful!!!
As someone who crossdresses I struggle with my thigh highs rolling down. I’ve been trying to get garder belts or (straps) as I call them. But maybe I should try one of these methods on this video.
Wow they are pretty and creative
Even though I will never need this: cool video!
This really cool and seems very effective. You don't mind though if I ask since I'm a plus size girl, how much stitching would you recommend? I just really want to wear my stockings since I love them to bits
I love the third idea but I’m curious if it would make the pantyhose run?
The video we needed and finally got 🥺
*Me who's been using actual double sided tape for years now.* : MMmmmM interesting
Idk if this is safe, but I’ve learned to use double sided poster tape. It’s not for your skin, but it works really well and it hasn’t irritated me yet
Great video, cant wait to use one of these methods for cosplay
I was hoping I could use this video to get my long gloves to stay up. Ig I’ll try the silicone band (I’ve already tried tape)
Where are your boots from?:D
I really need similar looking ones for my 2B Cosplay.
And great video!>-
When she sewed over the pins it physically hurt me
Sameeeee
lmao that intro
i have nothing else to say-
oml i really needed this-
Would it be possible for you to make a sword and I would be able to buy it? I love your work!
I’m going to use the last method for my 2B cosplay :)
I totally needed this video!!!
Thanks for the leg review.
