One night I was really drunk at a party that was for Dolores son Emilio Huerta while he ran for council and I had no idea who he was. I only remembered the last name because in my highschool there was posters of Dolores in my 1&2nd period. Then he said His mom Would like to say some words, And I lost my shit literally, how could I not know this was Dolores son!! as soon as she spoke I sat and listened to how well she spoke and how humble she was, and let me tell This is one of the biggest Voice's of my people. Til this day the biggest honor I ever had was meeting her, giving her a hug, and thanking her for what she and Caesar Chavez did.

I worked directly under Dolores in New York City on the boycott in 1974. She is a great leader.

Alright, I rarely comment on these videos (Cause more than not bad things come from it), but I have to come to the defense of the legendary Dolores Hurerta. As we saw in this video, her life was essentially summarized. She's a civil rights legend! She deserves the fucking respect that she has earned. I'm still a big Sanders supporter and I personally disagreed with her supporting Clinton in the primaries. With all of that said I'm not going to discredit and badmouth her entire career because of one thing that I disagreed with. Think about it. This is an eighty seven year old woman who just wanted to see a woman be president be president in her lifetime. You really can't fault her for that, even if you disagreed with her candidate choice. Just like how I'm not turning my back on Bernie Sanders even though her kind of endorsed that kind of conservative guy a few months ago. One mistake is not nearly enough to destroy ones legacy. Like it or not she is a civil rights legend then, and now. Lastly, do you honestly think Amy Goodman would have her on the show if she didn't think that she was legit? Think about it people!

Agree, her support for Hillary doesn't take away from her legacy. At the end, she encourages to vote for the strongest most progressive candidate.

She's a warrior who was never given proper credit. She has done more good than bad. So yeah, respect even if you disagree. I like Bernie don't agree alot either as with Biden but I would have voted for anyone but #45!

You would think that when a woman like that supported Hillary Clinton people might at least rethink their principled opposition to her. But, sadly, there were way too many people who wanted to believe the negative fake news as opposed to the word of a "neoliberal shill" like Dolores.

Neoliberalism is a real political science word. And the opposition is principled and based on policy Hillary signed/advocated for while in office as SoS, senator and first lady. Watch the debates she had with people on Democracy Now.

Thanks, I am aware that neoliberal is a "real political science word" and I even know what it means. Of course, just because it is a real political science word doesn't make it real. It just makes it a term that people who took a class can throw around to dismiss people that they don't like. To dismiss of Dolores Huerta as a "neoliberal shill" suggests ignorance of the term, or of Dolores Huerta and what she has done. That is what I find unprincipled and intellectually lazy (that's an insult, but the way). I could go into a more detailed discussion of what it is I find so dishonest about those who emphasize "neoliberalism" as the root of all evil, but that is also not my point. I know who Dolores is, I know what she has done, I know what she has risked for justice. I will say again, to dismiss her as a neoliberal shill -- as has been done here -- is not principled, its not intellectual, and it suggests a darker motivation. Until the left is ready to examine those darker motives- related to race, gender and, oddly, class-its going to be a tiny little movement which does little or nothing to achieve justice or improve the conditions of those who most suffer in the current global economy.

If you want to know why people might feel negatively about the Sanders movement -- read the comments about Huerta from supporters of Sanders. The lack of any kind of historical consciousness about actual progressives and actual progressive movements, and the willingness to trash anyone and everyone who diverges from the party line is distressing. I know what Dolores has done for progressive causes -- for women, for workers, for farm workers, for LGBT rights. I know what she has done, and what she has sacrificed. What has Bernie Sanders done? What has he sacrificed? I know the principles he is willing to sacrifice -- including reproductive rights. Putting them side by side I would choose Dolores over Bernie any day. And with good reason.
      ¡Estamos con ella!

What a hypocrite. You supported republican lite Hillary and now says we need to elect progressives. Saying we need to go forward isn't enough. Apologize to Bernie and progressives first. What a huge stain on your personal journey.
