I’m from Virginia and know this college . And you can’t live here making 60k it’s just bad. So the best is to study a career that makes more than 70k a year to live fairly better than everyone else here. I’m going into sonography next year and I hope to earn 80k or more which will most likely happen because the percentage rate for sonographers will go up a ton and I’ve seen they’ll be willing to pay 90k a year and give a 4K bonus if you sign up so yuh. I’m a senior in highschool and I just wanted to say this for others who also live in Virginia like me to start thinking of their careers cause 60k a year won’t do much here.
I'm from Australia and don't know this college. You can easily live here without working because we have the dole. So the best thing to do here is get a high value trade, particularly a dual trade. I finish my apprenticeship next year. Entry level is roughly 140k AUD, however, with skill shortages that is plenty of opportunity for overtime. My tradesmen all made over 200kaud. last year on apprentice wages I was able to make $100k AUD. I just wanted to say this for others because this type of physical labor both grows you mentally and physically. Allows you to work on your own property legally and others. Has plenty of room to grow career wise and gets you earning money straight out of school and not accrue any debt which leaves more saving for investing.
I studied business and hold an MBA. My first salary was 17k granted 17 years ago. That same job pays 38k today. So the college kids expectations are a bit out there.
The Cybersecurity Engineer has the best shot of hitting that target and if he gets a gig that'll sponsor his clearance in the DC area throw on another $40-50k on that. Computer Science is the most overhyped degree when you can hire coders and script kiddies on a H1-B for dirt cheap.

Have you ever been to the DC-area? There are great places to live in and around the city if you're making as much as he said he's hoping to make
DC got gentrified a while ago
Northern Virginia is a nice place to live. Dc is just overpriced
@@cloutfisher7714 I work in DC, I love 20-30 minutes away, grew up outside of DC… DC is entirely a mess of a city I could write an essay on this topic
northern virginia is a wonderful place to live, some areas can be a bit expensive but you just have to find the right place
All the CS majors underestimated
GMU alum here. I regret going there considering what I was studying, but the one guy is right, it is a good place for internships for people going into certain fields.
what did you study
Wtf come back again.I don’t have a class on Friday
Yeah of course I wasn’t on campus that day.

these "what are you hoping to make" vids are pointless.
so what if i'm hoping to make 100k, 1 mil - who cares. only actual, current job salaries are useful
The second girl is for sure the child of a millionaire
They really think they can make that much straight out of college when they have to compete with students from Georgetown, American, George Washington, U Virginia, and U Maryland 💀
it's just so funny how ppl go to colleges ranked higher just for the prestige. unless you're in an ivy, it doesn't even matter because my coworker graduated from a university somewhere in Dominica and here we are making the same $120k salary
Put of all those schools only George Washington and University of Maryland can compete in tech networking. So no, they are competing with people of the same degree and level of network not the schools themselves.
holy, in Egypt no one is gonna be expecting more than a 1000$🤷♂️
Marketing and business analytics going into 90k 😂 I just didn’t that degree… either they can afford to stack on internships instead of waiting tables in school (and still get lucky), or they’re in a ridiculously high expense area. In Atlanta, entry level business positions that pay over 60k basically don’t exist, and in my little Appalachian town I had to settle for a “sales” job just to make over 45k
Now they need to visit your other post to see how much ppl in those fields actually make.
Would companies trust you if you plan job hopping? I mean when they see your CV when applying?
Actually it’s every common in his field to job hopping . They say change company’s every two years .
Why do you need your company to trust you? You're not marrying the company. You just need them to pay you on time for as long as you're working there. Workers know the company will fire them if it improves their bottom-line, and companies know the worker will move on the moment they get a better offer. That's exactly how it should be.
@@zetaforever4953 Have you experienced being at the bottom? No money, no food and don't know if you can pay the rent for the month? Many people have suffered in life so when they get a job they are very thankful to it.
@@holyconcertking lol sure. I've experienced financial hardships and been grateful for income. I've had fantastic bosses and terrible ones. And i treated them all accordingly. I stayed at a job for six months more than I planned to as a favor to a manager who was kind to me and helped me when I needed it.
But I've never been so grateful that I'd put my 'loyalty' to a corporation over my own career growth and financial well-being. I can't even imagine what that'd feel like. I don't think any company has ever been so grateful to me they'd take a loss to give me a pay raise.
Because there are more jobs than qualified people
So he can one up companies
Yep, that an art student.
Alumni Sky Champion on Powamoto ☝says GMU is #1 Communications Dept #1 ✊
This was pretty realistic. What wasn’t were the Howard students all expecting to make 6 figures
The videos where you ask employed people what they make are better than the videos where you ask college kids what they think. Imagine if Daniel Mack asked people in Hondas and Toyotas what their favorite cool car was instead of asking folks in cool cars questions... yeah, it's like that.
Cool
cool story bro
Some of these comments think the CS majors are overestimating but they're really not lol. Tech pays a ton and "lower paying" industries like aerospace in low cost-of-living areas still pay software engineers a minimum of 70k
Exactly!!
I wish people taught them that even with the degree jobs still will start you off at entry level pay smh and typically entree level is not 70-80 k
For comp sci it definitely is specially in a major metro area
@@mohtalk I live in a metro area in the state I’m in and I am not searching for a job that pays what bls.gov is stating but everyone that I talk to is only giving 30-40 k a year for me to start off and I am a newly graduate as a RN…mind you my grades are great as well, the job I have now pays more than that…I’ve had a job interview where he stated that they would have to start me off with that pay because that is what typical entry level makes but they promised to increase the pay later
@@mina2719 for comp sci if you don’t make 60k min starting, you’re doing it wrong, 100k+ starting if you are in a HCOL area like Silicon Valley
I’m shocked at all these rude comments. You guys don’t even know the girl and here you are assuming everything. Not everyone has to be passionate about Stem. Don’t let people tell you what you have to do just to make money. Sure, it will be tough off 1700 a month, but don’t tear people down who dared to dream.
how can you not think about that
Lol
Some peoples lives are that cushy.
It’s called love for art. Something you and I could never understand 😢

@@uhshd1671 I’m leaving to go work in financial due diligence. At least it’s more interesting work. The WLB isn’t much better but pay is better and more interesting.
me looking at entry 30-40k max 👁️👄👁️
most if them will have a rude awakening after graduation.. the asian girl was modest when she said at least 1,700 a month….
As an art student i relate a LOT to the 2nd girl, don’t know how much i’ll make later when i get paid for doing so but i trust the process! Hopefully doing what i love gets me somewhere ✨ P.S. i’m not a rich person like any other art kids
Well, I wasn’t expecting THIS.
I'm hoping to get 10k a year... but the best I've done is only 3k in a year.
The last one will never make back the money she spent on school.
The salary for the computer science and cyber security is somewhat accurate. However, the field is oversaturated and becoming competitive. Also, it seems like a decent amount of people are leaving their current careers to get into computer science right now.
1700 a month? Are you kidding me?? What can you do with 1700 a month 😭
Computer science is going to be oversaturated soon. Good luck.
fr lol
Already laying people off in DROVES.
That's my school baby!!!!!! Lets go pats!!!!! Mason forever!!!!!
How nice to see this i did my masters in ×ducation here. Looking into a phd :)
These folks are in for a shock
O the difference between Art and IT folk. Well we know who just in it for the money 🤑
i love the artist girl
Last guy is so cute
Ik but for first job it’s good. Plus your pay will go up fast in cs related job that 30k can go up to 300k real quick talking from experience lol
Has plenty of room to grow career wise and gets you earning money straight out of school and not accrue any debt which leaves more saving for investing.
well they’re just talking about entry level salary, it will definitely go up the longer they stay/have more job experience
Yea I’m an electrical engineer and I get paid 50k😟😟
Ohh
How?
Oc the artist didn’t even consider a salary 😂😂
NAURR MY CLASSMATE HERE OOO
best of luck to everyone!
These entry wages are crazy for French people; it is much much lower here
These people are living in a dream. Good luck with all that. You might earn that in a very expensive zipcode which you end us save little to nothing.
I studied business and hold an MBA. My first salary was 17k granted 17 years ago. That same job pays 38k today. So the college kids expectations are a bit out there.
A comp sci degree easily gets you 70-90k if in a major city
I graduated on '16 and my pay was 75k,
I am in marketing and 60k is a reasonable salary for a starting position
I salute Computer science/Cyber Security guys
Bro said 90k on his first job 💀💀
U r lucky if they pay you with experience lmfao
Its fairfax/dc area its not too far off its gonna be prolly 70-80k for a entry job here.
I always wonder why more Americans don't study computers science when it pays so well ?
Maybe because they don’t like it. Most people only do it for the pay even if they don’t like it. Just so they can stay home and do work there.
Because its really hard and stressful
@@mario9467 ooh fuck 😳🤣
cuz it’s hard and requires too much math

STEM field -> med school -> 60k for 4-7 years then jumps to 250-600k depending on what you specialize in.
These guys gonna have a rude awakening when their entry level is only going to give em 40k. Gotta work years to hit 70k and above
They are pretty accurate at least given average CS salaries for their state (VA) and nationwide, 70-90k is pretty accurate
I started at 70k for swe in Ohio so no
@@etfreima2080 what are you a crack dealer?
Lol I promise you most entry level jobs that require a bachelors degree for CS, business, will not pay someone $19.23 an hour.
