- In a charge conference on Tuesday, it was revealed that renowned forensic pathologist Dr. Michael Baden plans to testify that six-year-old Corey Micciolo died from pneumonia and sepsis. His father, Christopher Gregor, is accused of abusing the boy to death after allegedly forcing him on a treadmill.

The pathologist said it was a homicide. PERIOD
Keep in mind he was not the pathologist that performed the autopsy. He reviewed the autopsy report and formulated his opinion based on that.
Whether he physically conducted the autopsy or simple reviewed the reports- he is able to make a sound conclusion given his credentials@jenniferdolan9205

That's 1 pathologist's opinion. Not everyone is guilty, the defense has a right and duty to present its side and call witnesses.

I think if they are saying the treadmill caused his death, Chris will walk. Has anyone testified as to fresh bruises at autopsy that would have caused laceration to Corey's liver and heart? I'm so confused with this prosecution.
@@cishowerton2031 The bruises & internal injuries were caused by trauma in a 4 to 15 hour window prior to the autopsy, as determined by signs of cell damage & healing. Cory was examined in the ER & the bruising before being taken to his dad’s and determined not life threatening. Cory was with his dad in the 4 to 15 hours before death. Seems pretty straightforward to me.
Before the father came into the picture corey didnt have bruises and was a happy healthy child....along comes his father..he gets bruises and now he is dead. His father killed him ..

There was no evidence for sepsis.
The only "proof" for sepsis/pneumonia they have is a post death CT scan that shows blood pooling in the lungs. The blood was misinterpreted as mucus from pneumonia but Cory's lungs were clear when he saw the Dr the day prior
Even if he did have sepsis, it would have been caused by all the trauma inflicted by his father....from an RN

He’s not , he’s just doing his job. Chris could appeal and say that he wasn’t given a fair trial then he could get another trial and might be found not guilty. So the judge has to make sure everything is fair to the book and the way a trial should be done in order to make sure that Chris does get the punishment he deserves and it sticks.

The culmative injuries to numerous organs (heart, spleen, liver, etc) contributed to Cory’s death. Sepsis wasn’t found in his bloodwork. Cory wasn’t found to have pneumonia the night before at the ER before release.

Was after he was pronounced dead, there's literally video evidence of them telling Chris that Corey passed and Chris breaks down crying in the hospital to the point of the nurses needing to put privacy screens around him
@mike-3752 that was while they were doing CPR, not after his death. Not sure why but anytime codes were called heads always popped out of rooms to see what was going on.
There was no pneumonia or sepsis according to the pathologist earlier. What the heck is going on!?! This is why these things happen among us....the laws are built for criminals. May the jury get it correct.

@@sarahusa241 The prosecuting team will be given a final chance to clear up any issues, then the defense does the same, and final statements are made before the jury goes into deliberation.

Cant wait to see how the defense Pathologist is going to explain away the horrendous injuries Corey had!!!, lacerations to his liver and heart, contusion on his lung, internal bleeding his little body was covered in bruises and marks!!, and especially cant wait to see him defend the treadmill incident. Defense trying to argue pneumonia and sepsis, but Corey saw a Paediatrician and was seen at two different hospitals the day before he died, all did observations and he had no high temp, no markers for either of these conditions. His obs were normal. Desperate attempt by the defense. This monster killed Corey.

yeah wait until you see the Dr, unless he decided not to do it and someone else is but otherwise, he's famous for high profile cases, he's on the show autopsy, and a bunch more Michael baden, just type in famous medical examiner and he is the one who pops up. this is money mom and dad are spending to get their murderous son off, so to all those who keep saying they loved Corey, I say who do they love more. I guarantee all these jurors oir at least half know this guy.
it's B's, he's paid to lie, now all the cases he's ever done should be questioned you do not die from sepsis like this, Corey was up walking and talking his father even says in txts msgs to his girl that Corey is fine, so within two hrs Corey is dead from sepsis, I mean I cannot believe this guy would stake his legacy on this guy. maybe some phone calls, emails, etc from the public calling him out might make him change his mind.

I think the defense is claiming the lacerations were caused by the ER team doing CPR on Corey. You know, after he died from the pneumonia he didn't have.

I read in another comment thread that the defense lawyer is notorious for overturned cases and winning appeals, and the judge is just trying to keep all his ducks in a row.

He isn’t at all. He has been very careful to consider his rulings and make sure he knows what the lawyers are putting in front of him. His job isn’t to act as an agent of either side but to see that the legal process is done correctly.

Defense said family of Corey may still be called back on the stand is why family can’t be there. He knows full well they aren’t going to be re called to the stand. So why is defendants dad in there, it’s possible he could be re called to the stand too.

The judge doesn't convict. This is a jury trial.
The Judge is there to decide on legal issues that arise, and to ensure as fair a trial as possible. This is to prevent appeals. You should be hoping the judge gives the Defendant as much benefit of the doubt as possible to avoid an appeal., particularly where there is so much evidence pointing to guilt

Who ever heard of court delayed days for a witness to go on vacation...so many delays...doctor he saw testified no pnuemonia, no infections...lungs clear day before the murder.

If Dr. Baden testified to the contrary to the findings of the extremely knowledgeable pathologist, then it’s very clear to me that they are paying Dr. Baden a ton of money! Watching him in recent testimony- he does not strike me as someone who has kept up with technology or advancement in medical science but merely going off of old school knowledge. I seriously question his credibility at the age of 90!
