  • @SebyNeg
    @SebyNeg 10 лет назад +1

    Great interview coach Nick, i think Isaiah Thomas is a really underated player, just because he plays for the Kings and they generally don't get a lot of media coverage, but i really feel like he is one of the better point guards in the league and the thing i like about him in particular is that with him only being like 5"9 or 5"10 i'm sure a lot of ppl told him in his career that he wouldn't be able to succeed in basketball and the fact that he has, i think is really remarkable.

  • @CazaOD
    @CazaOD 10 лет назад +2

    It really amazes me how players who are such talented, skilled and hard-working guys, don't actually know why or how their bodies do what they do.
    For me, I don't think Isaiah understood the latter questions of the interview. And not to his detriment, but purely because it was such a deep, technical shooting question that Coach Nick posed to him.
    Great interview in more ways than one. I'm in!

    • @t4d0W
      @t4d0W 10 лет назад

      Its funny since I think athleticism is still a big deal of course is getting the shot off. You always hear of 'oh this guy is good but his mechanics are off. If you can fix it, he would drastically improve'. And they have shooting coaches who are paid big bucks just to work on those couple kinks in those players' mechanics and their shooting form. They don't realize it because its pure repetition and muscle memory. Though for the mere mortals who are not as athletic, they may realize it more because they have to do more work in order to improve their shot.

    • @CazaOD
      @CazaOD 10 лет назад

      Yeah, exactly. Isaiah is not a complete freak of an athlete, but compared to your average collegiate athlete, he's incredible. I don't think the 'smartest' players in the game are ever the most athletic. People say Lebron is super smart, but I genuinely believe it's just talent with him, similar to instincts. Great ideas in there, we should write a paper.

    Very likeable guy, far more relaxed than the other people you interviewed lately. You were even able to ask him if he's in without that being awkward like it would have been in the interview with Lillard & Aldridge for example, as they seemed to be very concentrated and focussed for the upcoming game. Did you do this interview with Thomas after the game?

Also, I would love to see a 'told you so' edition of Kyrie vs Isaiah in the offseason with a full season of Thomas as a starter! You are doing awesome, I feel like I'm learning something new every video.

    Isiahh is my boy when i play on the kings in 2k14 i play point forward and get him open for threes and hes just splashhhhhh and if not demarcus is always open under the rim cause of the spacing or i can drive to the hoop and try to make something happen its my favorite team on 2k nobody rebounds everybody wants to shoot and nobody passes so i get more assists and rebounds its great

    I love Isaiah! but i noticed he said the reason he does the turn is to be squared to the hoop.. which would defeat the whole purpose of turning wouldnt it? and i think you got him with the dip which is actually a bit quicker, and possibly the sway too haha. all in all this was more like a pop quiz and it was a pretty cool interview one of my favorites of yours so far

Great to see a guys who knows that he does actually do these things while he shoots.. It would be great to see Coach on TV but at the same time it wouldn't. Because let's say he's on ESPN. Instead of letting him talk basketball they would make him talk about "excruciating pressure" and "guys playing hard" and "this team wanted more than the other" and all the other bullshit you see on there.
      If Coach Nick had a 1-on-1 with Skip Bayless talking about Basketball, Skip would be so fucking embarassing that it would make for some great tv lol

    You should try to interview Steph Curry.I think its interesting how fast his release is, and how it changes so often depending on what kind of shot hes taking. His release can be super quick on a step back or just generally quick on an open 3. Also sometimes he sways, sometimes he ends his shot in a wide stance, and sometimes he ends his shot falling down. Will you coach?

  • @b122717953

    I love this interview !!! And I think the players and coaches seem to enjoy it also because it obviously wasn't a "So what do you think are the keys to winning the fourth quarter" type of interview done by some TV reporters who know very little about basketball fundamentals. Great job as always coach. Btw just out of curiosity how are you able to ever get a chance to interview these guys ?
