As a primarily landscape & street photographer I'm quite happy with my purchase of two value lenses that covers 17 through 250mm with just a tiny gap at mid-range. I went with the Sigma 17-50 for landscapes and the Canon 55-250 STM for my occasional telephoto shot. I the end though it's the Sigma 17-50 lens where I feel I get really outstanding results. This Sigma lens is the one to buy!
Just purchased this lens yesterday. Everything is fine except two things. 1. No manual override in autofocus mode 2. Focusing ring rotates externally, so one has to be careful while hand handling the camera. Otherwise it's a very good lens with sharp, beautiful photos at all focal lengths. Dynamic range is also good.
Your reviews have helped me so much. I wish I found your channel on Friday night rather than Sunday night! I feel very comfortable about picking up the Sigma 17-50 now, after hearing the differences when compared to what i saw as its main rival. Thanks for your hard work!
The comparison at the end of the video was extremely helpful as I was on the fence for both lenses. I am only interested in stills, and low-light/sharpness is my game, so the 17-50mm will be my choice. Thank you so much for the impeccable review as always!
Hi Christofer ... Good evening! Rodrigo, from Brazil. I wanted to start by thanking you for the high quality of your channel! It's amazing how you care about exploring every detail of the lens, and being didactic. I think yours is the best channel on photographic equipment across RUclips. I just signed up!
Hi ,How is the lense perform? Am also having sl2 and am thinking of picking one ,a friend of mine selling it just for 100 euro. I would apreciate if you tell me your thoughts
Thanks for putting this together. Looks like I made the right choice by getting the Sigma 30mm 1.4 Art lens for my Pentax K5IIs. (Thanks to your review.) I've had it for a week and although I'm still getting used to the focal length I'm very happy with it. I love the build & image quality, wide aperture, and especially the full time maximal focus. Makes switching from AF photo to MF video totally seamless. (K5IIs doesn't AF during video recording, so I get the one shot AF and don't have to change focus modes thereafter.) The lack of OS is not an issue since it is in body on Pentax. Thanks again!
Sigma should redesign their old 17-50 f2.8 based on this contemporary appearance. That is a very good lens, but the gold accent in 2020 looks super tacky.
Very helpful. Thank you. It seems that you've started including lens' AF noise in your video reviws. I've now seen a couple. I like that! Thank you again.
hey Christopher, how is the autofocus of this lens on your 70D? I have the non-contemporary version and my lens consistently front focuses. I had to do a +20 micro-adjustment (which is the maximum amount allowed) on my 70D and it is still slightly front focusing. Have you had this problem with your copy?
Now 10 years later I guess an updated version of this lens will be great and I would probably buy that. A new version probably needs to be updated in pretty much every single way. I would like to see the zoom range to be updated to 17-85mm to have slightly better range. Also the autofocus and image stabilizer should be upgraded a little to make it also a nice option for video making. for aperture I prefer to have something like F3.5 constant aperture instead of a higher aperture in the widest angle. And of course the all important image quality needs to be nicer in every way. especially in the corners. For all this upgrades to work I still like to have the macro features but a little less of that is no problem if that makes it easier. As long as close up focus is really good it will be worth it. It is a little long explanation but I am definitely interested in an updated version of this lens or something quite similar
Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 OS Macro 'C' lens + NIKON Z50 + NIKON FTZ = AMAZING! AF SPEED VERY FAST & support EYE AF, and provide OS and it is essentially a 24-105mm equivalent lens on full frame. HAPPY it CAN BE USE ON YEAR 2020!
Nice video dude ! At 2:00, it's a true situation for the focus ? A so close distance between the subject and the lens ? I'm shearching a macro lens for stop-motion, so this lens could works.
I got the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 OS Macro 'C' to replace Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/4-5.6 IS STM as it's about the same size even though it's twice the weight, I feel this lens is more of a "kit lens replacement" than a contender to the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8
Great video, thanks! I just got this lense. I'm going to use it as a handy and fun multifunctional lense because I like to walk around and take pics of different things, it is my first lense if I don't count my kit lense. Not too big or heavy but kit lense is of course much lighter and weaker. It seems that it is significantly better as a macro lense and the auto focus is very fast compared to the kit lense. Probably a bit sharper too and there is definitely more light though it isn't the brightest lense out there as this video shows. 72 mm filters aren't quite cheap. Overall I'm happy with this, but as mentioned consider Sigma's 17 - 50 mm for example. I bought this since it is a moderate macro and has a wider zoom.
AF is also much noisier than in my kit lense, but if I shoot video I use manual focus. Wouldn't call it silent as he says in this video, but maybe there are individual differences too.
How does the autofocus motor sound compare to the sigma 18-35 1.8? They look pretty similar so I’m hoping it’s about the same. I just ordered this lens and will be using it for vlogging with a shotgun mic. I hope the autofocus isn’t too loud for vlogging
Hi, I'm on the point of either getting sigma 17-50 or 17-70mm. Which one do you think I should get for my d7100? I already have 18-140mm so don't really need that long end of 17-70mm just want to get the sharpest one. Thanks, regards from New Zealand!
Purchased this lens in June 2021 for my xt3. Still waiting for it to arrive. I hope the AF would be good enough for video shooting. Compared to fujifilm 16-80 f4, it's way cheaper($250US on Ebay), and has wider aperture.
I have this lens and have got some pleasing results but im now thinking of upgrading it (I have a 70D). Do you think the Canon 24-105L is an upgrade over this lens? Im not worried about the wide end on an APS-C as I also have a UWA lens. DXOmark shows that this lens is a little sharper than the 24-105L
Hi, comparing only the sharpness of this lens with the canon 18-135, wich one would you recomend? I believe the difference of the amount of light can be a challenge but does the quality of the sigma lens tops the canon?
Hi Christopher, I'm trying to decide which lens to bring along for landscape/travel photography in Australia. Would you recommend the sigma 17-70 macro or the canon 17-55mm? Or something different altogether? I have a Canon 70D body.
is this review of Same 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro (OS)* HSM | C, offered by Sigma in the current product line up, as i See the subject you are referring to Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 OS Macro HSM...?
i owned the first iteration of the 17-70. was not mega sharp but did reasonably the job. And it was super small and light. I bought a tamron 18-50 stabilized which i found too noisy and went back to my trusty old sigma. No stabilization, no HSM motor, but could do so many things...
I bought this 6 months ago. The zoom ring is really stiff at first but after a few months it has become too loose. If I tilt my camera downward the lens zooms out by itself. They should have put a lock on it.
Hey could you please advise between the 6 or 7 different fast 17-50/55/70s & 50-100/135/150 from Tamron/Tokina/Sigma/Canon: I'm adapting to m43 & Sony but may be switching from Sony to Fuji. On m43 it seems Sigma tends to work better(compatibility/AF wise) and the OS isn't a huge problem as it won't work with ibis so needs to be switched off anyways: so Tamron non VC "12-36mm f2" or Sigma OS "12-36mm f2" or "12-50mm f2-2.8" & Sigma HSM "35-110mm f2"(if I don't want to go with pricier options). But on Sony & more particularly Fuji having better OS might be helpful for video: on the a7RII shooting 4k is best in super35 mode & with Sigma(& maybe Tamron) could possibly give dual IS but on a Fuji X-T3 I'd be getting 4 stops of OS for video(which would be incredibly handy) - then again I could also just use better full frame lenses & a speedbooster to get "17-50mm & 50-140mm f2" respectively. Is this really a choice between better OS in video & better IQ or is there a clear winner here? I know Fuji has the awesome XF 50-140mm f2.8 R OIS WR but the 16-55mm f2.8 is lacking the feature.
What would you recommend for something that has a good range like this with good f stop but better for videos? In terms of more quiet AF. I have a 17-55 but it’s very noisy
I like the focal length, but I put this lense in flickr to see shots and was dissapointed, so I'm not sure I will be getting it. It doesn't look good for portraits, but looks nice for other things.
I shoot Portraits and landscapes and also a bit of video which one should I buy this or 17-50 moreover I own a kit lens and a nifty fifty. Replies appreciated.
Thanks for the review! Been thinkng about getting this lens however I'm not pretty sure if it's worth it. I've been really waiting for someone to make a great review about it. I was thinking about using it for video recording. I think I'm gonna go with the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8.
What would you recommend Christoper, the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 or the Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4 "C". I love the 2.8 on the 17-50mm (especially since I shoot weddings) but what do you think about image quality in the comparison. Is it worth the fixed 2.8? I watched your videos on both but still torn. How is it with real world situation on a daily or close to daily basis? Thank you, love your reviews!
Thanks for the review Chris. I've been watching a few of your videos recently but they're still leaving me a bit undecided on which lens to buy. I'm considering purchasing this Sigma 17-70 as an upgrade from my 18-55 kit lens for my Canon 600D. I'm also looking at the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 Art as an upgrade from my Canon 50mm f/1.8 II. Basically, I'm going to Rome for a week in July and would love to take some awesome photos whilst I'm there. I was also looking into the Sigma 18-35 f/1.8 as a compromise instead of getting the other 2 Sigma lenses as previously mentioned, however, you did state in your review that is was really big and heavy and wouldn't be suitable for travelling. What would your suggestions be?
Well, you can still take the 18-35 traveling with you - it's just a bit big and heavy for a lens with such a small zoom range. The Canon 15-85 might be a nice bet because of its awesome zoom range. Take the 50mm 1.8 with you for some more arty shots with blurry backgrounds. Should be a good combination :-)
Christopher Frost Photography thanks for the tip, i'll defo check that lens out too. would you choose the Canon 15-85 over the Sigma 17-70? As the Sigma has better aperture?
Kevin Wong Personally I'd go for the Canon, as neither lens really gives you a narrow depth of field at their maximum apertures, so might as well get the much nicer Canon lens for your 'flat' photography, and a fast 50mm or 30mm for your more arty pics :-)
I've been considering this lens for a while now as a replacement for the standard kit lens. I've also been looking at its cousin the 24-70. I can't really decide on which one so what would you suggest? I'm using the Canon 60D.
Hi Chris, I bought the 17-50mm F2.8 lens for my Nikon D5200 and to my surprise, when I take photos indoor using the built in camera flash with this lens mounted, all photos of close subject comes with a big shadow of the lens in the lower half of the photo. Would you know if this is a normal behaviour? Thank you.
Hi Chris, love the reviews! Is it possible to review the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC APO OS since this lens is a 70-200 crop sensor equivalent. I am hearing so many great things but can't find a decent review.. Thanks...
What do you guys think that are must have lensen for APS-C sensors? I got 50mm f1.8 AF-D, 35mm f1.8 AF-S, 18-55mm kit lens and recently got the Samyang 14mm f2.8. My next lens I'd like to be a zoom, ideally 70-200 f2.8 lol, but not gonna pay €1000, what other good alternative is there? And is there something like a 24-70 ? Nice all around walk lens?
Looking for a replacement for my kit (18-55 IS II) lens. Looking at the Canon 17-85 IS USM and this one. Which one would sharper and does the front turn when focusing?
+Patient 71 The front of this lens does not turn in focusing. I think this Sigma lens is a touch sharper. Take a look at my kit lens upgrade video or my other reviews for more info :-)
why one should prefer 17-50 f.28 over 17-70 f2.8 when price is same for both of these lenses? 20mm more on 17-70mm and that too on same price is a good choice ? what is your suggestion?
hello Chris im not sure if i should go for this and sell my sigma 17-50mm F2.8 which i purchased from your recommendation and i loved it but im not sure if this lens will be more handy then that. What do you recommend? I have a telephoto and a 50mm 1.8-i plan on buying an sigma art when i can afford one but i want to purchase a macro lens and if this has it with it i think its a good solution. Please let me know! If your looking for a cheap full frame camera go for a early model canon 1D i just ordered my 1D mark ii N for around 500. Thanks for all the videos and keep up the great work!
Hey Chris, Which lens would you recommend as an upgrade for my canon kit lens 18-55? I was planing on getting this sigma 17-70,but i mainly shoot videos. Would appreciate your help.
I have been watching many of your reviews, and it won't make it easier. The reviews are great and love watching them. The camera i use is little old, the 400D. For quite some time i have used the Sigma 18-200mm and found out that portait is what i like most. Shooting close ups indoors from my family. But as i noticed, and you confirmed it in review of this lens, the quality is not the best. So i have made up my mind to get some new glass. this Sigma 17-70mm C version was on my mind and hoping that you did a review on it and it came out like GREAT LENS. But damn its not the same as you said with the 17-50mm Sigma ( highly recommended ) For the telezoom i have in my mind the 70-200mm F4 L lens Canon. The one without IS is, i guess, a nice step into great telezoom glass. Here are some of my choices, maybe you can clear up my mind a little Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4 Sigma 17-50mm 2.8 Canon 15-85mm 3.5-5.6 Or should i go for Canon 24-70mm L f/4 Sigma 24-70mm F/2.8 Thnx in advance
Christopher Frost Photography Few months later i have upgraded some of my stuff. As you adviced me to get the 17-50 sigma i bought this one. Upgraded to a 50d and the nice 70-200 F4 L. Pictures are stunning, but i have a gap between both of the lenses. As i have seen your 24-70 L 2.8 version1 i was not impressed by it. even read the comments on that review. Now is the question what do you recommend for the hole between the 17-50 sigma 2.8 and the 70-200 L ?
Hello Christopher. can you please give a help. Witch one is better for you? the Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 or the canon 18-135mm stm in terms off sharpness. i am a beginer photografer and i want to take pictures of landscapes and persons. tanks for your time. oh i have a canon 700d
Christopher Frost Photography tanks for your reply. Like i said i am a beginner and you work is very helpfull. In my opinion you make the best tests. Best regard.
reviews are very nice and easy to understand!!! The only bit I am starting to hate about your reviews are the things like"my new camera,my camera,my expensive camera 6d",its like you are telling everyone "no, you can't have those cameras, they are all mine".....no offence!! just felt irritated a little in every reviews......carry on the good work!!!!
Timer set at 10 sec,Tripod used, shutter at 30seconds, Iso at 200 it's still blurs . I only get clean images when using burst mode . Always 1st image is blurred but the rest are just fine.
The new series Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM C with the previous series " Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM " . Between the two, which would you prefer?
Hey Chris, could you review some of the apsc appropriate ultra wide angles lenses like the sigma 10-20 or tamron 10-24. I have heard only good things about the sigma 10-20 and want to see your take on it.
I've been shooting with the sigma 10-20 f4-5.6 for a couple of years now and for the price it is a fantastic lens! Haven't reviewed it as of yet though
Lumusphoto Corners are too soft. Not sharp enough for a cheap lens. Even at F10, the corners are not good enough. At F16 and above, it's getting a little bit better.
can you please, help me to decide, which one is better to get, Canon 15-85, Sigma 17-70? need good travel lens, had 17-55, need to reach more. Thanks in advance. Farra
thank you for the video. I've also seen your video for Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS HSM. I am currently looking for a travel lens with good still picture quality. so which one should I buy Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 OS Macro (lens in this video) or Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS HSM. please help :) .
If anyone wants to comapre the field of view:
17mm 5:08
35mm 5:53
70mm 6:36

Just got mines today!

Good choice, on B&H, the Nikon version of the lens is discontinued. Canon may be next...
My new 70d just came int the mail yesterday and so far I love it! I hope you are enjoying yours as well
I sure am :-)
Hi Christofer ... Good evening! Rodrigo, from Brazil.
I wanted to start by thanking you for the high quality of your channel!

I think yours is the best channel on photographic equipment across RUclips.
I just signed up!
And ... your pronunciation of English is simply PERFECT, making understanding easy!
Thanks!
Hi Sir. What lens can you recommend me? Im using canon 77d and I make DIY videos. I take close up videos most of the time. Any suggestions?
Try getting a Canon 50mm f/1.8 STM, and buying a cheap extension tube to go with it for macro work
I just purchased this one used,I need a zoom lens for my Canon SL2. We will be traveling next month so I'm excited. Thanks for the review.
That's a nice combination for the SL2.
Hi ,How is the lense perform? Am also having sl2 and am thinking of picking one ,a friend of mine selling it just for 100 euro. I would apreciate if you tell me your thoughts
Thanks for all your great videos ... this clip sold me on getting the 17-50 2.8 ... sharpness wins over focal length.
By far best lens review! Excellent job!!!!
Looks like this is gonna be my new all around lens for my M50 😁
@Matata Lui Negative, you will need an EF-EOS R mount adapter I believe. I could be wrong, but I have one on my EF-S camera right now.
Thank you, I think I'll go for the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8
Bought this! I love all the focal length besides the 17mm, which the color fringing is the strongest. Thanks for the review!

Love your reviews, they really help me a lot. BTW my master degree is at Cardiff University, so cool and I miss the city view lol

What would happen if I tried to use this for a full frame camera? Or would it not work at all?
It would fit on, but you would get very strong vignetting around the edges, so you would have to crop your images

Christopher Frost Photography thanks alot for your response!
You have the best lens reviews. Really appreciate it! Have you reviewed the canon 15-85? Would really like to see that if you haven't already.
Yup, reviewed it quite a long time ago
Great review!

Hallo,
thank you very much for all your lens reviews. They are very nice and practical. Much better then written reviews!
What? The sharpen of 17-70 Contemporany is very more best than 17-50 EX. The macro of 17-70 is awesome! Even so good video. Congratulations!
Всё чётко, по факту и без воды! Молодец! Спасибо! Привет из России )
I shoot Portraits and landscapes and also a bit of video which one should I buy this or 17-50 moreover I own a kit lens and a nifty fifty. Replies appreciated.
So great review... Thanks.. Gonna to buy it
Thanks for the review! Been thinkng about getting this lens however I'm not pretty sure if it's worth it. I've been really waiting for someone to make a great review about it. I was thinking about using it for video recording. I think I'm gonna go with the Sigma 17-50mm f2.8.
Thanx a lot for the review.
can you please compare with 17-50mm F2.8 EX DC vs 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro what the different please...... thanks very much
That would be great
Question: Did you bother to watch the video? He literally answered your question IN THE VIDEO. 9:43
Frost, this lens has better image quality over Canon EFS 15-85? And her image stabilization? Is good like Canon for videos? Tks!
I think the sharpness is comparable but the IS and usability is far better on the Canon
Christopher Frost Photography I already have the Canon and was seduced by the bigger aperture from Sigma... Tks a lot!
Hello! I would like to know that, can I use this objective with Pentax K-50 camera?
I bought this lens recently for my Nikon D7100.But Auto focus is not functioning. How do I use Autofocus?
Ooo I want this lens. Good review
How about a comparison between the Sigma 50mm F1.4 vs the new 50mm F1.4 Art =)?
What would you recommend Christoper, the Sigma 17-50 f/2.8 or the Sigma 17-70 f/2.8-4 "C". I love the 2.8 on the 17-50mm (especially since I shoot weddings) but what do you think about image quality in the comparison. Is it worth the fixed 2.8? I watched your videos on both but still torn. How is it with real world situation on a daily or close to daily basis? Thank you, love your reviews!
+Nick Sakowski They're both similar really, take a look at my comparison at the end
Im quite new to photography will this lens fit the canon 800d?
Nice review
Christopher Frost Photography Brilliant. I'll go for the Canon then. Last question. Canon 28mm f/1.8 or Sigma 30mm f/1.4? :)
Kevin Wong
Definitely the Sigma, but it needs to be the new 'Art' version
Hey, how does the blende change between 17 and 70?
Is it possible to take photos in 70mm + f/2.8 ?
I've been considering this lens for a while now as a replacement for the standard kit lens. I've also been looking at its cousin the 24-70. I can't really decide on which one so what would you suggest? I'm using the Canon 60D.
+Mark Gowans It's either this or a fast standard zoom lens - check my comparison video :-)
Thank you.
ialaddin2002 yes, because the lens has blocked the flash
This sigma lens or ef-s 15-85mm f3.5-5.6 is usm..?
could you review this on mirrorless?
Hi Chris, love the reviews! Is it possible to review the Sigma 50-150mm f/2.8 EX DC APO OS since this lens is a 70-200 crop sensor equivalent. I am hearing so many great things but can't find a decent review.. Thanks...
No plans, but I would like to review it one day. There's a very good review over on photozone. It's meant to be a great lens :-)
just got 17-50 thanks for review
What do you guys think that are must have lensen for APS-C sensors? I got 50mm f1.8 AF-D, 35mm f1.8 AF-S, 18-55mm kit lens and recently got the Samyang 14mm f2.8. My next lens I'd like to be a zoom, ideally 70-200 f2.8 lol, but not gonna pay €1000, what other good alternative is there? And is there something like a 24-70 ? Nice all around walk lens?
+Septimus The Tamron 70-300 VC USD is very nice :-)
Hmmm okey, thanks, I'll look into it. One which is a bit more light sensitive sould be nice, but thats like much more expensive.
Great review, not those who are selling lense in the name of review. :)
Urgh, do people still do that on RUclips? It's annoying...
Yes bro
+Christopher Frost Photography
Hi Do you know anything about SIGMA UC ZOOM 28-70mm 2.8-4 lens. Is it any good and will it work with Canon 50D.
this video help me decide... thank you
Looking for a replacement for my kit (18-55 IS II) lens.
Hey, what are the differences with the older 17-70 no OS version? I can get it for 190€, good deal or not? Should I look elsewhere? Thanks!
I'm not sure, but I think the newer lens is a bit sharper (I think)
THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! you are GREAT!!!! sigma 17-50 2.8 is my choice:-)
why one should prefer 17-50 f.28 over 17-70 f2.8 when price is same for both of these lenses? 20mm more on 17-70mm and that too on same price is a good choice ? what is your suggestion?
Trust me the sharpness of the 17-50 2.8 it's excellent, and you still have 2.8 to the 50mm as well.
I got the 17-50mm after watching a lot of reviews,it's bang for the buck!
@@mkhatri007 but it goes to f4 on 70 mm. And seems to be really soft on wide angle
@1:45 why f4 if you can do 2.8? so this lens is not constant?
That's right. That's why it's called 'f/2.8-4'
hello Chris im not sure if i should go for this and sell my sigma 17-50mm F2.8 which i purchased from your recommendation and i loved it but im not sure if this lens will be more handy then that.
+Movie flix It's up to you but I'd stick with the 17-50. Look at the end of this video and I compare the two
Thank you!Christopher Frost Photography
Christopher Frost Photography I feel for you reading the comments. That comparison is very good, and often missed.
Thanks so much! Just got a good deal on a used one
Hey Chris,
Which lens would you recommend as an upgrade for my canon kit lens 18-55?
I was planing on getting this sigma 17-70,but i mainly shoot videos.
Would appreciate your help.
Take a look at my kit lens upgrade video :-)
I have been watching many of your reviews, and it won't make it easier.
The reviews are great and love watching them.
The camera i use is little old, the 400D.
For quite some time i have used the Sigma 18-200mm and found out that portait is what i like most. Shooting close ups indoors from my family. But as i noticed, and you confirmed it in review of this lens, the quality is not the best. So i have made up my mind to get some new glass.
this Sigma 17-70mm C version was on my mind and hoping that you did a review on it and it came out like GREAT LENS. But damn its not the same as you said with the 17-50mm Sigma ( highly recommended )
For the telezoom i have in my mind the 70-200mm F4 L lens Canon. The one without IS is, i guess, a nice step into great telezoom glass.
Here are some of my choices, maybe you can clear up my mind a little
Sigma 17-70mm 2.8-4
Sigma 17-50mm 2.8
Canon 15-85mm 3.5-5.6
Or should i go for
Canon 24-70mm L f/4
Sigma 24-70mm F/2.8
Thnx in advance
Don't go for the 24-70 lenses. I'd go for the Sigma 17-50 if you want great pictures of your kids :-)
Christopher Frost Photography Thnx for that. How about the 24-105 f4 canon L lens ? Or just stick with 17-50
familie Veendorp The 24-105 is nice, but it only lets in half the amount of light, and because it starts at 24mm you'll miss out on those wide angles
Now is the question what do you recommend for the hole between the 17-50 sigma 2.8 and the 70-200 L ?
thanks so much for the review Chris! the 17-50mm seems to autofocus a lot faster than the 17-70mm. is this correct?
Christopher Frost Photography is this correct? Thanks!
Ly1k11
is the focus smooth and silent when shooting video with the canon?
Doesn't it show that in the video?
how comparison canon 24-105mm L with this lens.i using canon 700D
If you watch my video review of the Canon 24-105 L, then you'll be able to see how sharp it is on APS-C, and how it compares
Bruno Gonçalves They're similarly sharp. The difference is between zoom range / maximum aperture
Christopher Frost Photography tanks for your reply. Like i said i am a beginner and you work is very helpfull. In my opinion you make the best tests.
Best regard.
This or the Sigma 17-50 for a allround lens and mainly for vacation photography with landscape and cities? Or the Canon 18-135 STM?
I'm young so I need a cheap lens and one that is reasonable in every situation while on vacation. I don't want to change my lenses all the time...
+Moritz Mann I compare this with the 17-50 at the end of the review
i've 70D too. i'll buy a lens for video/short film. do you recommend this or Canon STM? Thank you for review!
Watch the video - I talk a lot about whether this is suitable for video work
Christopher Frost Photography i watched but engilsh isn't my national language :/
ali can kızılkaya This is not a good lens for video work. An STM lens would be much better :-)
okay, thank you for help :)
reviews are very nice and easy to understand!!! The only bit I am starting to hate about your reviews are the things like"my new camera,my camera,my expensive camera 6d",its like you are telling everyone "no, you can't have those cameras, they are all mine".....no offence!! just felt irritated a little in every reviews......carry on the good work!!!!
Alright, I'll stop :-)
:)
Does yours suffer from slow shutter speeds, cause I noticed that if I have a lower shutter speed of 15 seconds my image that I took blurs.
That's not the lens - it's your photography. Use higher ISO levels, or open up the lens's aperture some more
Timer set at 10 sec,Tripod used, shutter at 30seconds, Iso at 200 it's still blurs . I only get clean images when using burst mode . Always 1st image is blurred but the rest are just fine.
Hi Chris, I'm looking for a relatively cheap lens for weddings for my canon 700D. Photographs only. Would this be ideal?
+Emma Elizabeth Either this or the 17-50 that I talk about at the end of the review (I would personally go for the 17-50)
The new series Sigma 17-70mm F2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM C with the previous series " Sigma 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC Macro OS HSM " .
I'm looking at reviewing a load of ultra wide angle lenses this summer :-)
Go for sigma. I have the Tamron and I'm not happy with it.
Ritchie Linao All the sigma lenses I have I must say are really well put together, what aren't you happy about with your Tamron?
Lumusphoto Corners are too soft. Not sharp enough for a cheap lens. Even at F10, the corners are not good enough. At F16 and above, it's getting a little bit better.
can you please, help me to decide, which one is better to get, Canon 15-85, Sigma 17-70? need good travel lens, had 17-55, need to reach more. Thanks in advance.
Farra
Well, if it's zoom range you want, obviously, get the 15-85
Christopher Frost Photography, thanks a lot for the reply, I have got 15-85. Really like your channel, helps a lot. Good luck.
Thanks very much for your honest review. I shoot video as well, and so will be checking out the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS HSM on your recommendation.
Hi Christopher, would you make a review for Nikon 18-140mm lens the kit lens.
+Fahd Idrees Sorry, I don't cover Nikon gear. Maybe one day
+Christopher Frost Photography 😭😭😭
Awesome review! One question to help me with if you can :D. Sigma 17-50 or Nikon 16-85? Sigma allows more light but Nikon has a longer focal range.
Well, depends on which of those attributes you'll need for your photography!
Christopher Frost Photography Chris which would be better for shooting video?
Eric Bartolo I haven't used the Nikon lens, so, I don't know
Impressive review...thanks
thank you for the video.
I personally slightly prefer the 17-50
@@christopherfrost Just bought it. Awesome lens tact sharp. BTW thank you for the reply.
Planing to go for 17-50 2.8 or this one 17-70 2.8-4 ? For travel and some events. Can 17-70 go on full frame? P.s i think 17-50 is sharper
The 17-70 will not work properly on full-frame
