I'd love to see some of the process, not just the finished product. Nice work! I have a really sad, badly bedded savage No 4 I need to do something with
Oh man there was a paint formula of dupli-color black ceramic that they quit doing that was exhaust paint. It couldn't really hold up to the claimed temperature for exhaust. But it was a perfect blend to match the finish on Russian AK derivatives, and most of the Bulgarian stuff. So if you wanted to modify your arsenal or your Saiga 12, It was dead on perfect. I still keep an empty can just as sort of hope that I will someday find the stuff again
That came out awesome. I’ve been having so much fun restoring only guns. I wish I knew this 2 years ago. I found in the house I was living in a box full of .303 British. It’s a odd looking round for sure with the really long projectile with a round nose. I just left it there cuz I figured I’d never even find a gun that shoots it. I would have sent it off to you. It looked like 70 year old ammo for sure. Still in perfect condition.
You did great. I hate most sporterized firearms. Thank you for bringing it back to it's semi-original glory. I wish I could shoot it. I have a Remington made 1903A3. It needs a new front sight blade. Some moron peened it too aggressively and not it doesn't stay tight. 😕 It's a beautiful rifle otherwise. Out of all the parts I've inspected, they all seem to be Remington made. ☺️
Well if it looks nice clean and looks like something they would have actually made during the time idm but making it look stupid or modern we got a fucking problem
I cringed a little when you said you screwed a hex screw into the sling retainer ......it is a BA thread pattern ...not that hard to track down at least here in Australia . You should be able to buy them on Ebay . At least you restored it like I have done a lot of times . Terry
My friend has a sporterized Remington mosin in 30-06. It was his father's first hunting rifle he got from his father in law. Thing looks like shit but the stories it could tell
I think forever or unique guns preservation and restoration is important. But I think the current bandwagon of hate against people who customize guns to their own taste is imbalanced. If anything I think there's a lot more unique and interesting history in a lot of the 1950s sporterizations than there is in yet another generic rack gun in mil spec form. Some of them are hack jobs and that's not particularly special to me. somebody who spent a huge amount of effort to personalize a piece of boring surplused government property into something loved and used is history that deserves to be remembered too. If there were no market for cheap government surplus to be turned into things for the public to use all these rifles would be scrap anyway. You could say that maybe archangel plays a ro le and they're still being mosin nagant... I'd rather have shaved webleys than no webleys. And I definitely want to have a shaved Webley.
Booligan: apologizes profusely for bastardization of a mosin nagant
Also Booligan: "BIG CHUNGUS"
I’m the embodiment of the duality of man.

WW2 commonwealth reenactor in the states here. Nice to see something restored. Keep up the good work.

Turned out quite nice! Looking forward to the shooting video.
That's a nice looking rifle you got there.

When you go shoot it bring the bayonet, it may shoot better with it on.
(Many guns with detachable bayonets were zeroed with it mounted.)
I love the wonky barrel harmonics that come into play when shooting with a bayonet attached.
This makes me miss my old #4mk1. ex wife sold it out from under me.
