It is sad actually, being a HECU soldier, sent by the government to do an important mission but then they stab you and your buddies in the back by sending an even stronger force to do the job and also eliminate YOUR team.
I don't think they were any stronger, hell they likely had less men and vehicles overall. The Black Ops were sent as the government's last attempt to salvage the situation at Black Mesa and hopefully stop the invasion through the brute force of nuclear detonation. They weren't a containment team, they were a highly skilled task force.
Black ops weren't sent to eliminate all. When Marine's weren't able to sustain & control the situation, black operators got orders to clean up all remaining units of any org. At first they assisted hecu grunts (hence they captured freeman), but later when the orders were sent to pull out, all remaining survivors who didn't or couldn't leave- were doomed to die, either by aliens or by black ops. That's why Adrian hears from radio about Black Ops opening fire on Marine's on "later" chapters.
I think they deserved it. Imagine how scary it was for the scientists and guards to deal first with the aliens, then the military, and then the black operatives? Who I really feel sorry for are the scientists and security.
If that is the case, we must act quickly, Mr. Laurey. It would be very practical if you could... _straightens tie_ consume the already mentioned explosive device.
