Best guitar player Focus ever had ...?? Eef Albers... very underrated..
he also play in Otger Dice band i think. "Garden of Pleasure" album.
Little known fact: the drummer on this track is Steve Smith, who only joined Focus for this album. He then left after its' release, and later that same year found much greater success with Journey!
Well, before joining Journey he was recruited by Jean Luc Ponty and played in one of the most acclaimed records of jazz rock history, Enigmatic Ocean!
A car racing close to the speed limit of a road. That`s the imagery I make upon those crazy bars which we can`t stop to breathe a bit. That`s the essence of the high speed... or anxiety. At the fade out of the song, the convulsive drumming suggests a car accident, a bad end to the excessive speed of the vehicle
.
If only Eef had toured with Focus (as opposed to Philip) after Akkerman left, the band may have live a little longer!
He did! In 1977 and 1978. concerts just in Holland and Belgium. The reason Focus stopped was that the work with Proby wasn't successful.
The ending was probably inspired by Mahavishnu Orchestra.
more info please
@@ItsMeTheUser the ending of Visions of the emerald beyond also have a cross fade between the band and orchestral chords.
I have my doubts if the soloing is done by Alberts or Catherine, both are monsters!
I thihk the album cover says it's Eef, but you can recognize his sound is different than Phillip.
@@adolfomendonca Right, it sounds like Eef, his style is wilder, Phillip's is more academic.
