As the player who is being targeted, don't get upset if your partner is trying to poach. In fact, communicate with your partner and ask for the poaching. Also, don't get upset if your partner misses some shots while poaching.
Absolutely. Coming from a tennis background, when at the net or kitchen line, when I feel confident in poaching, I do it to the surprise of my partner but I do sometimes let him/her know I may do it. I have only played PB for 3 mos, so I am not scared of playing the net at all. Hit as hard as you want, I will just block the ball. Have a PB day :)
All well and good in a tourney, a league, or higher level play. But in rec play intermediate land, your targeted less skilled partner will perceive you as a ball hog who is taking away their opportunity to play. There is no time to discuss the finer points of 'being consistant' or 'poaching' in the middle of a game. Attempting to convince your intermediate opponents that 'weak player targeting' is a weak way to win a meaningless rec game usually meets with as much resistance.
Being a new beginner in Pickleball, I cannot tell you how ready I am to put into practice what I learned from this one!
Well said, body language and confidence in your own game, a good partner won't let his/her team mate get "beat up" . Great video!

With that physique, the big guy has a steady, powerful hand at full stretch, and there's a _lot_ he can do to shrink the net for his partner.
