I used this to build my garden wall. Put it away and a year later it's out again to build my brick porch. It's not something most would use every day but it really takes the stress out of getting those regular and linear morter beds. Great fun too. Brilliant tool.
I've got the original - had it for about ten years. Just used it again last week to build a little block wall along my hedge base to stop the embankment escaping. So easy. It's not super quick if you're not a bricky or using it a lot but it makes it steady away.
I've bought this tool and I'm going to build a 4 foot retaining wall in my back garden, I was really confident in it when I sent for it but I've just watched a video of a bricky using it and he says the bricks don't stick properly because you don't have a furrow to press down into for suction, I'm still going to use it but I'm going to try a sample first, just a rough 2 or 3 courses and leave them for 24 hours and see how it is ....
so if I'm gauging to hit a window or door height how do I get there with one bed joint size. Does this accommodate joint size other than 10mm? I'm not cutting. Cut bricks look horrible
I'm wondering if this company is no longer trading? Given them an order and paid for it, no confirmation email, no nothing yet they are still taking payments, What's going on Noel Marshall?
Love seeing all the tradesmen on here angry that a piece of plastic makes them redundant. Let it go - people like it, it works for them. I haven't seen any horror stories of garages falling in on children yet...must work?
What happens if you need to make 50 mm so what you do you open up your joints to get it which this does not do plus bricks very in sizes so your bond will wonder and some times you have a height to reach that doesn’t work brick work so you have to make your joints slight bigger eg 1mm so over 20 bricks that’s 20mm and that’s a lot this tool can’t do that
I went and had a look online for the price and couldn't believe it is $80 AUD. Instead i borrowed a 3D printer and printed the piece of plastic. Bloody handy when laying bricks nicely.
I have worked construction laying blocks and bricks. This might save you material cost. If time is not a factor it might be OK. This might be good for a weekend project. But for someone who does this for a living not so much.
Notice you tell them to bring the top edge of the brick to the line but what about telling them bricks can hatch and grin even if top of brick still touches line
Hi Noel.... I left a message on your website, but received no answer, so I thought I'd try here.... I live in the states.... we still haven't converted over to the metric system.... I was interested in doing a project with the standard size concrete blocks that we have here in the states... Advertised length is 16'" (L) x 8" (W) x 8" (H)... Actual Length is 15.625" (L) x 7.625" (W) x 7.625 (H). I noticed that you advertise that the "Bricky" will work 218 mm block, but that's not quite the converted dimensions of our block.. Is there a way to make your product work with what we have here, or do you make a product that is made for Imperial size block & brick..??Your product looks slick as s*it, would love to find out I could use it for my project... Any thoughts....??Thanks...
+Bruce Walters... well, it's been 5 days since I posted my inquiry on your website, and 3 days now since I posted my question here in the video comments.. I don't know, maybe where you come from a product inquiry doesn't rate a reply. Where I come from, a reply is generally the 1st thing required in order to generate a sale. Am I crazy in thinking that if you can't answer a product question, that your follow-up customer service would be any better..?? Just saying....
+Bruce Walters In the UK and Ireland, there are other block sizes apart from the 3 common ones this tool works with. The bricky is no good for them either. The tool is cheap, probably worth buying one and cutting it down. If it adds a few dollars to get an engineer shop to do that for you, it still won't break you. Or stick a strip a 1 inch strip of planed wood in to bring the size down. Or build with 9 inch blocks rather than 8.....
+freeganjustin .... Thanks for your reply. It is much appreciated. ... I thought there were probably some alternatives to having it work with the block sizes used here in the states, but more or less wondered if the product was also made to work with Imperial size block in addition to the Metric sizes... Just looking for a way to make life a little easier, but thank you for your suggestions...
+Bruce Walters I'm quite surprised there aren't any amateur vids on this tool, just the promotional ones and a couple of reviews. I see it is made for 3 metric sizes and their Imperial equivalents. It's adjustable for those sizes only. We have 8 inch blocks in UK too, plus a whole range of other sizes. Probably because we build nearly everything in brick / blockwork, whereas in North America there is more of a tradition of building in timber frame with cladding. Good luck with your project!
I've just ordered the "New Bricky" as I'm attempting to re face cascading steps, so I hope to video my progress what concerns me is how to lay the first course, as all these vids show a part built wall? Keep an eye out for my work as a complete novice it should be fun! If nothing else
IT'S GARBAGE!!!!!!!! The mortar joints aren't full, and the frogs don't fill either..... And you better make sure that you find bricks that are the exact size you need.....
Frogs sit upwards, so you fill them as needed... The type of joints this makes is called a Rake joint... Really, you shouldn't comment unless you know what you are talking about.
Bricks are made in a kiln (fired) and depending on the heat within the kiln they come out oversized or undersized (very few are target size/perfect. The purpose of mortar is to get the bricks to the required height known as gauge. This product is rubbish and goes to show you how much those telly builders know!!! The guy demonstrating does not even know the difference between plumb and level.
just got my order here in USA all the way from Europe. This thing does indeed work. Thank you sir.

Richard Saville machines will replace most jobs one day anyway, so they should just get used to it
Do you no anything about bricklaying
What happens if you need to make 50 mm so what you do you open up your joints to get it which this does not do plus bricks very in sizes so your bond will wonder and some times you have a height to reach that doesn’t work brick work so you have to make your joints slight bigger eg 1mm so over 20 bricks that’s 20mm and that’s a lot this tool can’t do that
