- I've gone back to basics in my bullet journal this year, but I still love to add fancy lettering here and there to jazz it up. Today I'm showing 5 easy styles for beginners - even if you have the worst handwriting in the world, you should give these a try! (Spoiler alert - none of these involve the trendy AF modern calligraphy!)

Finally something I can do without basically having to relearn how to write, spend ten minutes writing five words and have my stuff look exactly like everyone else's because it's what everyone is doing these days.
As a child of the 80's I am hoping for the bubble lettering and the graffiti style!

Thanks for the tips! I love modern calligraphy but don’t have the time to practice - your hints are practical and simple yet cute as well! I feel like bubble lettering was popular when I was growing up (80s) and everything that was popular once will be popular again!
My daughter likes to make block letters then write in cursive inside (over) it. I used to do this in high school too (oh so many many years ago).
I find myself lettering when I make notes at work, especially if I’m on the phone while I’m making them.

I remember bubble letters being popular in the mid to late 90s, or maybe they were just popular with my friends and I. All of my letters would be different sizes and my S's were all over the place. I liked adding a little triangle and wiggly string to the letters so they looked like balloons.
You make it look so easy...thanks for helping those of us with no talent 😉

Thanks so much for this video! I actually went back and watched all your hand lettering videos and I pre-ordered your book! I've been so interested in learning more about lettering and how to practice but all the other books out there seem to want you to do the exact same style and I'm sick of looking at it. I very much enjoy your art, lettering and doodles even though I totally suck at it all...I very much enjoy watching. NOT an Erin Condren fan at all but I do very much enjoy your bullet journaling videos and basically everything else you do other than the erin condren stuff. Love the salty language as well. When you do that audio clip of "Yeah!" when there's a double entendre of some type I scream with laughter. That sound just cracks me up! Thanks for all you do!
oh my god, so funny. i used to watch you a ton when i had an erin condren planner and i loved loved loved your simple and practical lettering. i haven't watched a video in a long time, and i stumble in this one and it's just like i never left you.

Jessica Hodges This is what I do!! I have simply reclaimed my ability to slow down and make legible, even pretty, cursive letters. And my one modern-feeling touch is just not using capital letters at the beginning of the month and day names. I love it!!

Hi Cindy...just found your channel and I'm loving it! While I don't use a bullet journal, these tips can equally apply to any type of journal. I'm going to use them in my Traveler's Notebook spreads where I want to add flourish or a bit of spark. Thank you for practical tips to get more out of my Tombow markers that I don't use regularly because I don't know how to letter. Simple, easy, practical--thanks!

I have been trying to get the calligraphy handwriting down with all of the brush pens and such. That is not going to work for me. This is a joy to see how fun this is and even maybe I can get it to look cool. Thanks for the fun tips.

Loved this. Too often everyone focuses on the more fancy or at least hard to do lettering and forget there are tons of cute ways to write that are super easy. These were super simple and fun. My favorite lettering is also bubble lettering. I wouldn’t say I’m great at it though. Lately I’ve been trying to master brush lettering, which is getting better, but for all that I’m worth, I cannot do bouncy lettering. :P

Thank you for this tutorial. I love your lettering. If I want fancy calligraphy, or bounce lettering, I pull out a Happy Planner sticker. Why reinvent the wheel. that's one of the things that makes me sad when I see people saying they'll never be good at lettering... there are SO MANY things you can learn that don't require that type of muscle memory.

I love it! I like to letter the date differently than more normal writing in my personal journal and I feel like I'm getting bored with it. These ideas will definitely tide me over until Amazon Canada decides to get my copy of your book to me! Right now it's telling me it will shop between March 6th and 16th... I will have to be patient.
the best part about the scribble and thicc situations is that they are excellent at camouflaging if you screw up. not that I EVER screw up... 👀
