You are an inspiration girl! I love your creative nature, your colorful language, and your courage as you battle PKD, I have CKD and spent 8 years on the transplant list. I got a transplant in May and discovered your channel while recovering and havent stopped watching since. Even my mom watches along with me when she stops by. I can't Bujo to save my life but love watching other people do their setups. Keep up the great work.
I applaud your bravery in taking the challenge. Change itself is a challenge. I look forward to watching to watching your weekly updates. Just enjoy being creative.
I knew it! Been hoarding black paper journals for over a decade and I *think* I can finally bring myself to use my stash. A NBC daily doodle will look so amazing! I wish this was plan as you go month so I can zen out on those doodles.
Wow! I was gifted a random black page lined journal when I was a kid! I had no idea they made them in dot grid, perfect for bullet journaling nowadays! I’m going to have to get me some of these!
I have one...I'm going to use it once I'm done with my current one. My thought was to make my Monthly page resemble chalkboard art. I agree..you don't have to try hard the black paper makes everything pop.
I like the lettering styles - can tell you were having fun with it!! Inevidebly, will have to see if the initial intrigue and fun wears off or if you still enjoy it by the end of the month. I guess the key is always having a white or gel pen to write with since doing a quick jot in pencil or pen won't really help 😂😂 Fun to see the notebook in action, and fun music choice! looking forward to the updates!
I’m actually very excited for this. I know you hate experimentation, but I love watching you experiment. I’d never heard of blackout until now, but I don’t know if I’m willing to buy all the supplies to do it (I currently don’t own any pens). It looks fun though. :)
I'm glad to see this. I'm prepping to experiment with a sample blackout journal. Can you do something with metallic pencils? I have a (1) white gelly roll, and metallic pencils.
So I started black out planning 3 months ago shortly after these came out. I had the same issue with drying and smearing. So, I did one whole spread and haven’t gone back. Partly because I’m literally doing NO planning these day’s, just packing for our move from Cali to Austin TX. Still trying to get my Podcast going also. BTW, thanks Cindy for the help and direction. I have my 3 episodes done, I just need to move now so I can launch officially. Calling it, “The Gift”. Stay tuned for more! Launching January 1st
I've been wanting one of these journals so badly, but hesitant to shell out for the whole journal. I think I may have to just buy some black paper to add to my existing bujo.
THIS LOOKS SO FREAKING COOL!!!! I remember when I took art in high school they had us draw on black paper with white chalk pastels, it was weird to wrap my brain around the concept of coloring in the highlights and leaving dark areas black! I’m so excited to see how the daily pages and doodles come out :D
I would love to try a blackout journal but I'm afraid of committing to one for 6 months!! Maybe after I finish my lemome?... mmm.. does make for a fun video! I love these cute halloweeny spreads, great job!
The more I see these popping up the more I really want to try it. I am a minimum color or doodles person, so I think I would love this. The price is what holds me back though. On a budget, these notebooks are a dream item. Hopefully, I can get a chance to try it in the future!
It would be so fun to try but I think my head would get annoyed with the black. Maybe a grey would work for me. Or a brown! Oh I’d love a brown. Also. I own exactly ONE gelpen and that’s a black one... and one white posca pen... but I shouldn’t buy more pens just to try a black paper journal. But yes, it does look really cool! I look forward to seeing your progress in this one!
MoreBooksMoreTea sometimes michaels, etc will have sales on books pretty dark off-white/brown paper (like a little lighter than a paper bag)- they are usually near the sketchbooks at my store- might be a cheap way to play around with this style without going crazy lol
@@meglyy That is a great idea! Thank you! Sadly I live in sweden and I don't know of many crafty stores here. Well. one chain store but that one is still very limited. :/ But I'll be on the lookout anyway! :)
I haven't tried it and don't intend to very soon, mostly because I have a color method that works really well for me- which pairs with my school notes and I don't feel like carrying even more pens and figuring a new method out.
Today i started at my new job and i feel so confused because i prepped my october to help me analyze and record how my life is changing now when i work full time instead, so these last few days of september are ending up as junk journal spreads only, but i'm not making any plans etc this first week of learning a new job so i guess it works out in the end.
I’ve been wanting you to try using your bujo full time for a while. I’m excited to watch your journey this month. However, I bet it’s Gianna be stressful to work with those gel pens. I like the idea of the black out journal for art. But I wouldn’t try it for bujo. The dark page is too harsh for me and dealing with smearing and drying time would be make me mad.
I added a few black cardstock sheets to my disc bound planner and picked up a few gellyrolls for october. it sucks not having dots or lines but its not unmanageable.
Do you by any chance have any Posca pens? I've heard they're the most opaque when it comes to whites and a lot of artists use them but they are an investment.
oooh i love the spooky halloween theme :D the spiderwebs are my fave! i just uploaded my october setup and did a pumpkin and leaves theme. super excited for autumn!!
Seeing this makes me wish I owned more gel pens lol. I love all things Halloween and seeing this just makes me all the more excited. I will definitely stay tuned to see how it works out for you.
you should put a sheet of paper in between the pages that way you can move on and if it does bleed it bleeds onto the sheet of paper not the other side of your journal.
I can't decide what it is but this dark paper/light ink contrast actually makes my eyes hurt LOL! I will be following your blackout series with interest though as this is not a trend I am particularly fond of. but if anyone can make it look cool, it will be you.
I had a powerpuff girls themed black notebook like 15 years ago, it was my favorite, and after that i have never been able to find a black notebook/journal again in a store. These journals are beautiful, but ridiculously expensive for me to get, with shipping and taxes and fees i have to pay.... god, i miss my black notebook. I was the happiest 11 year old on earth 🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤
Ok Im Luving the Blackout look!! Thanks...now i need a black papered bullet journal lol Loved your "pen porn" music too 😂 this will be sick with Nightmare Before Christmas doodles! I'll be checking it out. Peace from your fellow Napa-kin.
I think it looks so cool! Like you, I think separating a month would be weird. I dont doodle really either so I think it's be pretty boring for me. And no washi???!!!! Sacrilegious! 🤣🤣🤣
From one curly girl to another, stop using gels (they dry hair out and make it frizzy) and start using creams that have coconut in it. Also don't use shampoos or towels as much for the same reason, use a old t-shirt to dry hair.
I started my curly girl method journey last August and if I can give you any advice: don’t let the information out there overwhelm you! People get really hung up on curl type and porosity and x and y and z, but the simpler the routine, the better! More likely to continue/more sustainable. I love atoya_thecurlyhairstudio on Instagram. Her flip/coat/scrunch 3-product method has been a game changer for me! :)
A bit late with watching but what about using blotting paper? I use that when writing with my fountain pen on tomoe river paper and it works like ... I wanted to say tit but that's a Dutch slang expression ... Like a mofo. 😤
yes this is something i noticed early on and thought "whoa this girl have some skill, no sketching for such accurate drawings and lettering?" very amazing!
It would be cool if you used this every year for October until you filled it up; look back at 10-15 Octobers.

Best comment ever!!!
BTW, I refer to these and all planner videos as "planner porn."
@@jodymarkgraf7625 Me too Jody. Cooking porn: when you take a cheeky look through the oven window and watch your food cooking 😂
The only thing these setup vids are missing is a super satisfying flip-through at the end!

What I do is put half a sheet of white paper as a blotter until the page dries.
Your candid nature is exciting and calming at the same time. I freaking love your videos!
Go for the sparkly. Always the sparkly.✨
I keep gel pens tip down in a cup so they don’t skip so much when I write 🎃
Does that help. I find that some of mine skip a lot but I heard you are supposed to keep them horizontal.
This blackout journal is so kickass 😩
I knew it! Been hoarding black paper journals for over a decade and I *think* I can finally bring myself to use my stash. A NBC daily doodle will look so amazing! I wish this was plan as you go month so I can zen out on those doodles.
So excited to see this throughout the month
I saw in your office tour you have a heating tool... could that help to dry the pages faster? xx
Making me want a black journal!!
The dry time is totally worth it, this is COOL AF!!
You are sooooooo talented! I love watching you lettering in your planners and journals.
Your handwriting looks kick-ass on the blackout paper 🕷🕸
OMG I absolutely love this! That's it. You sold me. Finally ordering a blackout journal hah!

Pretty pumped to see the progress of this
I would love to try just can’t afford it. Looks amazing so far!! Can’t wait to see the next video on this layout!!
Okay.. I was very much on the fence with the black paper but this is like a full aesthetic.. I'm digging it.
Really enjoyed watching you do more doodles and lettering. Looking forward to seeing it unfold this month.
I'm having very intense flashbacks to middle school, circa 2001 🤣🤣💞 I dig it.

I’m dying to try black out planning - I even have the same archer n olive book but I’m thinking I’ll start in the new year
I think the different styles of lettering look really nice!
I'm absolutely loving this look. I don't need yet another bullet journal, but I'm so keeping this in mind!
Maybe use a piece of computer / copy paper to put in between the pages while it dries so you can move on quicker.
Your lettering is on point! I love your styles.
Black paper seems a bit extra for bullet journaling, but looks like a LOT of fun for doodles.

Beautiful work
Neat experiment! I'm playing around with Curly Girl too, but only half-assedly. I'll be intrigued to see your progress and the products you've tried.

I've seen some art youtuber use coloured pencils on black paper. Might be worth a try.
Can you review your usage on rocketbook

Also, if you do decide to use this through the rest of the year, red white and green for christmas would look fantastic on black paper
What marker have you found is the most white opaque since doing this video?
Wait. What are you doing exactly on a lettering page?

I bought a cheap-o black out notebook on amazon and tried to bujo with it. Either I’m impatient or the gelly rolls don’t dry fast enough 🤣🤷🏻♀️

What happens if you use a dryer/air blower in the page? Does the black paper discolor?
