      I believe treatment-resistant depression is the state of a sensitive person understanding our society as it is and having been psycologically injured by it. there is no need for a synthetic, microdosing works well enough and psylocin is already a very selective molecule. it's got less side-effects at micro-dose levels than most pharmaceuticals used to treat depression or addiction. the stigma of legality is a dark dark cloud obscuring science and reality.

      Specifically that the war on drugs depicts a false image of the effects of many mind altering substances. When you discover that you have been propagandized to for your entire life about what the effects actually are, it's a natural progression to begin to question other laws established "for your safety" and the validity of the reasoning behind those laws. The apparent problem isn't that the substances and their study have been made illegal, but that the reasoning behind the illegality are often blatant and easily demonstrated lies fabricated by people whom experienced the effects secondhand, thirdhand, or even not at all.

After eating mushrooms, one of the primary effects (on me, at least) was enhanced pattern recognition, in the leaf/branch patterns of trees, dispersion of grass in a lawn, and other things that ordinarily seem random.

It's not just a fun night out like alcohol. Used appropriately it can lead to profound changes in the way you see yourself and the wider world. Taking a large dose of mushrooms allowed me to have a really healing experience recently. I was by myself, and I walked in front of the full-length mirror in my bathroom, and whatever part of the brain is responsible for telling you "hey, that's just your reflection, it's just yourself" was turned off and I felt one-hundred percent like I was looking at a separate human being in the mirror, looking at myself from outside myself.
    Even though intellectually I KNEW it was my reflection, my brain was telling me that it was a second person in the room. And because I wasn't immediately seeing her as just my own reflection, I was able to look at myself as a stranger would - and I noticed that all the things I am usually self-conscious about were not even noticeable to someone else. I have pretty severe body dysmorphia and dysphoria (not trans, just traumatized), and when I see my reflection I tend to fixate on a few areas that I hate about myself, and obsess over them. But when I looked at her, the other me, with the fresh eyes of a stranger - she looked fine. Literally nothing wrong with her, just a person. I didn't even notice the things I hate. And the relief that washed over me, when I realized how other people actually see me, was life-changing.
    I put my hands up to the mirror and she did the same, and we were two people for a few minutes, saying to each other in unison, "We're going to be ok. We're going to be ok." And I've never felt more empathy for myself in my life.

    Had a 7g trip a couple months ago. The second day following (post afterglow day). The moment I opened my eyes in the morning. Instantly it hit me: " I wanna get back into lifting weights/exercising and stop feeling lethargic..". This was an ongoing thought ive been having that hadnt built up sufficient motivation.
    From that day on, 30mins on the exercise bike daily and weight lifting 4 days a week. Haven't stopped. Once in done smoking my morning pipe right now. I have a barbell, weight plates, and bench to unbox and assemble. Been feeling great.

      7g is fairly heavy, but when I use mushrooms for migraine prophylaxis I use a descending dosage schedule of 7g-4.5g-2.5g at 3 to 4 day intervals (conveniently totally to ½ ounce) and reliably achieve complete remission for 2 to 4 *years*. I arrived at that through trial and error over about 8 iterations starting in 1988 when I first noticed the effect. The last time I had difficulty locating a supply and went on Topiramate. Huge mistake... it worked but I was beholden to a drug that required careful weaning upon discontinuation (seizure risk) and after 10 months I developed the characteristic speech difficulties and Todd's syndrome. I discontinued that crap and if I can't find psilocybin I'll try propanolol... much as I hate something I'd need to take daily.
      On the plus side for Topiramate though I also lost my taste for alcohol... also a well-known side effect. I've gone from drinking too much on a nearly daily basis to being able to enjoy a cocktail or two on special occasions.

    I'm not sure a tripless psychedelic would work, in my experience it's that altered state and how you interact with your own mind while in it that helps you process things that the depression is blocking you from doing that give you the lasting benefit, it's like it's forcing you to face what's making you depressed and find a way to deal with it yourself rather than just altering your brain chemistry to make it easier to function like anti-depressants do

    • @K31TH3R
      @K31TH3R 2 года назад +14

      I'm absolutely with you on this, and you worded that very well. The trip is exactly what pushes you into that relentless and tireless pursuit towards the very root of your thought process. It's the fiercely strong driving force behind the deepest introspective thoughts that you will ever have, and it would seem to me that omitting the "trip" induced by psilocybin would be omitting the most important therapeutic aspect of it.

      I agree. It is like the lights come on in all the basements and attics in your mind. You can't hide yourself from yourself in that state. It also throws you outside of the "box" so you see many things from many new angles which is useful for creatively solving your problems. There may also be beneficial chemical/physical changes, but I don't think those alone would be as helpful as gaining a bunch of new perspectives on pretty much everything, including your deepest darkest fears.
      Over time though, life continues to happen and new things might move into the hidden recesses of the mind. So it probably is something best repeated every few years. It has been too long for me, would take a hallucinogen again in a second if I had access to any. I think in an ideal world, tripping would be a yearly holiday for me.

    You have to have a healthy relationship with LSD and shrooms, sure you may not get physically addicted but in access use life can seem dull without them. I would have considered myself addicted to LSD a few years back when the high was more enjoyable than my own relationship. Just be honest with yourself when you consume them, why you are doing it, what you are looking to get from them, etc. I’ve tripped well above 100 times and the last 4 years alone. I was with my best friend/bf and he talked me through the problems and questions I had. I’ll never forget that experience.
    Another time I was tripping with my sister at the beach, and we were in the water; the sky was overcast and the ocean was reflecting back the same gray color and it was so beautiful. It was like that line in Forrest Gump when he says, “I couldn’t tell where the earth stopped and heaven began.”

I looked that up myself when it came down to the day of doing my first full dose day (1g of psilocybin in a chocolate). When it comes to microdosing, I actually have never found it's effective enough to produce enough of a "high" or this sort of "addiction" to take more. In fact, I was pretty intimidated by psychedelics in the first part of my microdosing experience so it was hard for me to even think about it during the first few days. The results become MUCH clearer after a few weeks that it just helps. You become more efficient, your brain has become excellent at memorizing things, remembering all sorts of things; things I used to forget all the time if I'd space out, etc. My brain feels like it's been revitalized. I hope this model is not pursued for the sake of reducing costs of administering the drug in a clinical setting, and to reduce the practically non existent (in a proper clinical setting eg using the Johns Hopkins protocol) risk of a severe adverse reaction, such as psychosis.
      The ‘magic’ is in the experience, which is of course underpinned by neural mechanisms such as a reduction in activity of the default
      mode network and the subsequent psychological malleability leading to hyper connectivity of brain regions that typically don’t communicate - effectively breaking the shackles of repetitive patterns of thought that keep individuals depressed or anxious or addicted.

A large portion of the public demanded it and fought for it, and then states started getting revenue from it, and they don't want to let go of that revenue.

  • @JohnLee-nj9pw
    @JohnLee-nj9pw 4 месяца назад +2

    I'm on shrooms as I type this. I NEVER tripped at all. I instead experienced ENLIGHTENMENT, AWAKENING, I have NEVER experienced before. I felt like I grew 10 feet tall. The house became smaller. I feel like I can do ANYTHING if I put my mind to it. Not egotistical or delusional but very confident with no cockiness or "I'm the shitness." Just an even balance of confidence and lack of fear. Connecting with the spirit of the world and seeing beauty in everything. Once again I did not trip AT ALL. For example, I smoked a loose tobacco cigarette and began wondering why. It did NOTHING for me. I felt like smoking is beneath me, not in an arrogant way but in a way that I don't need it. The smoke looked cool, I'll admit but it did really nothing for me. So confident that it didn't affect me. I felt so good that the smoke actually bounced OFF of me ON THE INSIDE and really couldn't touch me, not affecting me at all. Great experience, as I am a person who has battled depression for over 20 years now. All of that time with depression was erased in my mind after the first hour and whatever affects the depression had on me left me, completely. It's more like I needed confidence and self assurance and since I didn't have it, depression consumed me. However, on shrooms, the depression and its effects, evaporated almost like I never had it. Amazing, it's like my true essence and spirit grew and destroyed any negativity, without it being negative itself. I can't stop smiling, not just on my face but on the inside. I ate my salad in 5 minutes, like it was the best meal I ever had in my life. Now I understand why the government (DEVILS!) made this illegal. If people used this, there would be no need for the government and they would probably be overthrown, in a POSITIVE way. I mean that SERIOUSLY. I took this as a way of curing my depression and in less than 2 hours, it did just that. I can't believe how naturally powerful I feel right now. Once again, not tripping just calm, peaceful but strong confidence radiating, almost as if you can see it shining through my skin. I truly now believe you can do ANYTHING you put your mind to. Not like jumping from a roof and expecting to fly. No. That's silly. I'm talking about figuring out your problems and finding out a way to conquer them, for good. Taking on a task and growing WITHIN that task to getting it done, knowing there are NO LIMITS to what you can accomplish. I Thank The Most High I took this mushroom just 3 and a half hours ago of typing this. It's like a warm blanket of happiness, engulfing me in positive vibes and a confident spirit that isn't afraid of anything, even death. I don't want to die but feeling as if I do, my essence continues despite the ceasing of the physical body my spirit is in. My senses are heightened in a way I can't even describe right now. I hear and see everything on a spiritual level. This is NOT AT ALL A TRIP but an AWAKENING, AN ENLIGHTENMENT, BEYOND AN EPIPHANY. I'm glad I took it. The strain is called p envy. Very strong and I would recommend it to ANYONE who suffers from depression and anxiety as I once did. Again, as I ONCE DID. Peace to ALL who read my honest and pure testimony of this first time experience.

      🤯If you could think your way out of trauma you would've done it already. Trauma is created through experience and must be healed with such. It's not just about thinking differently, but making different choices so you can have a corrective experience.
      .
      🧠Your brain and body will fight you. Which is why it's important we make our nervous system our friend, not foe.
      .
      🍄If you're using psychedelics to work through trauma, it can be extremely beneficial especially with a trusted coach or guide. Not your buddy, who is traumatized themselves, who will most likely mess with you because your healing makes them uncomfortable. The idea is to feel and have a shift in perspective towards a traumatic trigger.
      .
      🤔 Sometimes you have to massage the scar to help the healing process. It can suck and hurt in the short term but will be fine in the long term. Vs ignoring it and letting that scar haunt you and remind you of an old injury. Don't be afraid to work through. Isn't it about time, you got out of your own way?
      .
      🙏Sorry for the rant. Just been hearing/sensing a lot of folks having traumatic triggers come up or they're coping with some heavy stuff. They're also using psychedelics to heal. I want to make sure you have all the tools to compliment the psychedelics in your healing journey.

    I think the trip is neccessary. I've only done psychedelics a handful of times, but they have been very helpful. I think the challenges you experience are important because you are forced to overcome whatever issue it is, and that ability translates to real life, at least in my experience. I am sure this is common, but one of the first paranoid thoughts I had was, "what if I am stuck like this." In the tripping state I was able to accept that if it were so, I would just have to figure it out. I think accepting that you don't have control of a situation allows you to find what you do have control over.

      As someone with experience with both ketamine and psilocybin, my feeling is that ketamine provides nothing near the deep introspective and thought provoking attributes of psilocybin. One of the fundamental properties of ketamine is dissociative in nature, which is fine for putting distance between yourself and the negativity in your life by numbing your mind to external stimulation and giving you a few days of respite from your normal outlook. However, psilocybin does not dissociate you from your negativity, it offers you a pathway towards confronting it directly, and gives you a tool to dig to the very root of your negativity, and often leads to a series of thoughts which removes your harmful thought processes altogether.
      But I hope your experience is different than mine, substances have a funny way of having unexpectedly different impacts on different people.

    the one innaccuracy is that it's supposed to be a good trip. the trips induced for therapy are very difficult, taking the patient to the heart of their trauma or issues and is an incredibly difficult time for most, that's a big part of why on trip day a therapist sits by, only talking to the patient when asked something.

      @Paul Gauthier I definitely see your point, and I'm not saying for a moment that these compounds can't be helpful for people without that. however it does seem to be much more direct and much less risky with the proper support, for some people this is shamanic rituals, for some it's doctors and some can process and implement themselves. the thing is that a lot of the research on mushrooms for example uses the equivalent phsilophybin dose to around 8g of dried golden teachers, which for an inexperienced person could be... a tad dramatic. I think if people do try to self treat they need to build experience and do their research but I still worry that some people would get lost in the wrong search. As for the privileged elite, I think (especially in a nationalised healthcare system) the relatively short treatment period would dramatically reduce costs and make it far more accessible, which is one of the aims of researchers like David Nutt. I know they're also trying to work on guides that would help people who can't access services at all, but that all needs to be based on clinical research with patients where they can be hands on.

    I look forward to the day psilocybin mushrooms are perfectly legal for recreational consumption. Compared to other legal drugs like alcohol, the risks are far fewer and the benefits are far greater. Compare drinking until you puke with a risk of alcohol poisoning, liver damage, and addiction - VS - feeling more deeply connected to the world and to those around you with a profound sense of healing joy from a non-addictive substance. As a coming of age ritual, I'd rather our youth trip on mushrooms and return to the community humbled and awakened than drink themselves into oblivion.

    • @evilsharkey8954
      @evilsharkey8954 2 года назад +8

      There is still a risk of self harm during bad trips and recurrent trips later on, so recreational use may be a ways off, but they should definitely be legalized to the point people can easily access safe, measured doses of these drugs for therapy rather than getting toxic street trash possibly laced with fentanyl. The war on drugs has been a spectacular failure.
