Blimey Ed! Having ridden the event several times, including this year, the ride you did there was simply incredible. To finish 10th, despite riding around on your own for almost the whole day, starting from the second group, and with a broken spoke, is just phenomenal. I’m also sure that the riders in front of you weren’t vlogging either, so a top 3 finish should be well within your grasp at the very least.
Glad you enjoyed the event itself, and it really is one of, if not the very best places in Europe to ride your bike. For anyone thinking of entering the event - just do it, and the one consolation for those of us who are much slower than you, is that the crowds are bigger and more enthusiastic as the day progresses, so the atmosphere is even better than you saw here.
Surely you’ll be invited back next year, and get a well-earned slot on the front row 👍👍

5,2 W/kg after 100km of mountain passes in the legs?? that's pro level climbing.
Apart from this great display of fitness (and taking us on the ride through the scenery), I really liked that you didn't start to think negatively after you cracked a spoke! Many people would give up and be annoyed with everything!

Buzzing for your result, deffo more in the mix for the next one and different vibe not having so many people to tight pass. Chapeau.

Well done, placing 10th in this event is awesome, who knows where you could have been without the spoke breaking and if you had been able to start with the front group, I was off in the back group and the road was totally blocked with riders not paying attention to anyone passing them, it took me 7hrs 2 mins to get round but I’m old and passed it now at 56, it’s the first time I e ridden an event and felt old! What an awesome event though and an incredible part of the world to visit, we stayed for a week after the event to ride the route again and actually be able to take in all the stunning scenery, where on the day I was swinging like a barn door in a gale and not taking anything in 🤪
