One Cut of the Dead, Hounds of Love, A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night, A Quiet Place, Annihalition, Raw, The Wailing, I Saw the Devil, Cabin in the Woods, Ghost Stories, Bedevilled, It Comes at Night, Kill List, Train to Busan, The Witch, Don't Breathe, The Devil's Candy, Us, The Babadook. So many great ones this decade!
1.) Hereditary (by far) 2.) The Void 3.) The Autopsy of Jane Doe 4.) Terrifier 5.) Mandy HM: Annihilation and Upgrade (technically sci-fi but I'm counting them as horror), Clown.
I could be wrong but I didn't hear any mention of The Babadook (2014) in this video. And that's a damn crime. Essie Davis is fucking brilliant in that.
1 Hereditary 2 The Conjuring 3 It Follows That’s it for me I’ve seen mostly everything only movie I haven’t seen yet is the Babadook which I think I’m going to really like
It has horror elements, but I think its primarily sci-fi with horror elements, like body-horror and visceral terror But if you say it's a horror movie, then it's a horror movie for you, all of these genre labels are incredibly nebulous and malleable since they're only based on our prior experiences and associations instead of strict guidelines
2010: Insidious 2011: You're Next 2012: Cabin In The Woods 2013: The Conjuring 2014: What We Do In The Shadows 2015: The Gift 2016: 10 Cloverfield Lane 2017: Get Out 2018: A Quiet Place 2019: Doctor Sleep
Tusk deserves a mention. Great performances from Michael Parks, Johnny Depp, Genesis Rodriguez and hands down the best performance of Justin Long's career. It has fantastic monologues written by Kevin Smith. There has been no film that has disturbed me to my core, as an adult, as much as this film.
Cabin in the Woods is fun, is a horror movie, and is not one of my top five favorite horror movies: because is is not scary at all. No particular order. Get Out, Midsommar, The Conjuring, The Babadook, It Follows. (I need to see The Invitation.)
Original TCM was certainly violent but gory, no. The hitchhiker cutting Franklin’s arm is the only significant blood shown in the film. People misremember the meat hook scene because of its shock value. I also think it gets mixed up with the much wilder sequel. TCM was a classic example of sometimes implied violence is more effective than showing it.
2010-Let Me In 2011-Insidious 2012-The Cabin in the Woods(THE BEST OF THE DECADE BY FAR, It might not be the scariest, but it's my favorite, such brilliant writing, and Fran Kranz is one of the biggest scene stealers of the decade) 2013-The Conjuring 2014-13 Sins 2015-Creep(Creep 2 is better though) 2016-Green Room 2017-Get Out 2018-Hereditary 2019-It Chapter 2
Green Room is not a very good film. It's not realistic and the story is terrible. The Purge is one of the worst films I've ever seen as is the franchise. So there.
Unfriended??? I stopped watching as soon as that popped up, they lost all credibility as serious film people by putting that on their list. Do they have some connection to the production of the film or something?

Exorcist III is extremely underrated.

By Chris’ logic, ‘The Firm’ is also possibly a horror (to which I agree) but you guys forgot The Witch, Bone Tomahawk and Get Out

Unfriended? Jesus. Christ. How is anyone supposed to take this seriously when you lead off with that?
It’s actually kinda lit, so maybe you’re lame?
It's The Lighthouse and it's not even close
agreed
You can throw that in horror comedy thriller or drama if you wanted to, I could see that being the reasoning
"Green Room" is a haunted house movie.
Does Annihilation count as a horror movie? That was my favorite movie of last year!!
It has horror elements, but I think its primarily sci-fi with horror elements, like body-horror and visceral terror

This dude for real said "unfriended" is a top 5 of the decade. Lord have mercy 🤦🏻♂️
you can not properly talk about the best horror movies in any context without hereditary being mentioned
thumbs up for the cremaster cycle reference
Unfriended is super underrated and waaaay over-hated. A surprisingly eerie and even kind of sad film.
Hereditary- Black Swan- Don't Breathe- It Comes at Night- Devil's Pass
Tusk deserves a mention. Great performances from Michael Parks, Johnny Depp, Genesis Rodriguez and hands down the best performance of Justin Long's career. It has fantastic monologues written by Kevin Smith. There has been no film that has disturbed me to my core, as an adult, as much as this film.
Why was 80% of this “yeah... but is ‘Horror: The Horror Movie’ actually a HORROR movie though????”
38:10 This is all very interesting in the light of Beau Is Afraid.
"The Invitation," is the movie "Get Out," wanted to be. It's on Netflix, check it out.
Ti West is my favorite horror director of the decade.
An unbelievable call, good job by you
Weird going from the Your Movie Sucks review of Unfriended to this...
Pretty sure I just shut my pants
Just when I thought I couldn't love Chris Ryan more, he shows love to Unfriended. Thank you! Such an underrated flick.
Hereditary and it’s not even close
Black Swan ... horror convo... Wait what?
Love the video component!
unfriended? what an atrocious choice
Cabin in the Woods is fun, is a horror movie, and is not one of my top five favorite horror movies: because is is not scary at all. No particular order. Get Out, Midsommar, The Conjuring, The Babadook, It Follows. (I need to see The Invitation.)
Unfriended as the 5th best horror movie of the decade??? Wtf!! :DD
No mention of Stephen king IT 2017.Bestselling of horror movie of all time and best remake of tv adaptation.
Original TCM was certainly violent but gory, no. The hitchhiker cutting Franklin’s arm is the only significant blood shown in the film. Bruh did this guy really just put Unfriended at 5 on his list? DISGUSTING. UNSUBBED.
