(Note that this video was taken a few months ago but I am posting it today to show what an amazing Caregiver our friend Jenn was to Nate)
A little over a year ago, as I was preparing to take on a temporary Youth Pastor position, we decided it was time to expand our care team to include a regular paid caregiver that would allow me to get some work done without Michelle taking on the additional burden of care for Nate. After an extensive search, we finally hired the woman who would come to love on Nate in a very special way - Jenn C!
Although Jenn C knew Nate and our family before Nate's accident, when she joined our team as Nate's caregiver, she showered Nate (and our family) with the love, care and attention that we needed. Jenn spent hours playing with Nate, praying with Nate, reading to him, walking him around and all sorts of other "Nate care" tasks. She has seen him blossom from his previously mostly non-responsive state to a young man just starting re-learn to read, write, smile, and have fun!
As a matter of fact, this video shows one of the first times that we realized that Nate could read and understand words letter-by-letter. And, it was because Jenn had been working so closely with him and pushing him to be the best he could be! Make sure you watch the video until at least the 1:00 minute mark to see the energy and encouragement that Jenn brought to Nate's care!
We are VERY indebted to Jenn for stepping in to the caregiver role just when we needed her!
Unfortunately, due to some changing circumstances in Jenn's life, she has had to relinquish her caregiving opportunities. But we just want to acknowledge how thankful we are to God for bringing Jenn to us at the right time - she has been such a blessing and we wish her the best!
