Grim Fandango Walkthrough:
• Grim Fandango Walkthrough
Grim Fandango is a dark comedy neo-noir adventure game released by LucasArts in 1998 for Windows, with Tim Schafer as the game's project leader. It is the first adventure game by LucasArts to use 3D computer graphics overlaid on pre-rendered, static backgrounds. As with other LucasArts adventure games, the player must converse with other characters and examine, collect, and use objects correctly to solve puzzles in order to progress.
Grim Fandango 's world combines elements of the Aztec belief of afterlife with style aspects of film noir, including The Maltese Falcon, On the Waterfront and Casablanca, to create the Land of the Dead, through which recently departed souls, represented in the game as calaca-like figures, must travel before they reach their final destination, the Ninth Underworld. The story follows travel agent Manuel "Manny" Calavera as he attempts to save Mercedes "Meche" Colomar, a newly arrived but virtuous soul, during her long journey.
The game received universal acclaim from critics, who praised its artistic design and overall game direction in particular. Grim Fandango was selected for several gaming awards at the time of release, and is often listed in publishers' lists of top games of all time. However, the game was considered a commercial failure and factored into LucasArts' termination of their adventure game development, contributing to the decline of the adventure game genre.
A remastered version of Grim Fandango was announced during Sony's press conference at E3 2014, and was developed by Schafer's current studio Double Fine Productions with help from Sony to secure the property after Disney's acquisition and closure of the LucasArts studio. The remastered title, featuring improved character graphics and textures, an orchestrated score, and directors' commentary, was released on January, 27, 2015 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux platforms.

"oh Manny what made you lose your love if life?"
"I died."
this game is something really really special
You can see that from the character name.. It even leaves a special tone in your back of your mind
I always loved scaring the pigeons with Robert Frost
I like how much scarier he is than a dingo.
My favorite joke in the whole game was right at the end, in the final waystation before the Ninth Underworld; they have a break room inside, and above the toaster is a sticky note that says something along the lines of, "Attention: Please butter your bagels AFTER they come out of the toaster!" Apparently not even death will save you from inconsiderate co-workers.
And very funny knowing how the demons of the 9th heaven temple are very friendly.
Tiny hammer is my favorite part.
I love the story and writing in this game. If it wasn’t a cryptic point-and-click adventure game, I’d totally recommend it to everyone I know.
It may be cryptic but at least it wasn’t made by Sierra or in their style.
It deserves the recommendation anyway
"Marigolds... funny...for some reason, I was expecting tulips."
"Le keg is le empty!"
"This little light of mine, I'm gonna let it shine!"
These are just 3 examples of dialogue in this game. It's stupid, smart and funny all at the same time.
Manny's comments are what make this game amazing.
Manny: *laughs* Who would wear a bet buckle with their-
Membrillo: *looks at Manny*
Manny: Oh.
And why did he go "oh" you think?
Manny to Eva when trying to pick up the hole punch: "Could I take your (w)hole punch??" Eva: "Hah! I doubt you could take my HALF punch" - that always cracked me up :p
10:02 If you ask this demon “Going down”, his response will be “Probably sometime tonight”. Lol!!
I’ll bet Hector pauses here every day, and thinks to himself…
“Boy I wish I could see past my gut and enjoy my expensive monogrammed floor!”
Great compilation!!!.. But in my opinion the whole game is full of funny quotes...and memorable moments!!!
+vizueto69 Thanks! and I agree, it was difficult to choose the best parts.
+Game Destroyer nice job man. Manny Calavera is pretty funny.
@@RacerGuy450 Manny does have a good funny bone to his sense of humour that makes him a funny skeleton, and Lewis of the Mystery Skull is a big fan of Grim Fandango’s game.
Manny: "Good enough for me"
Meche: "What is?"
Manny: "Oh, uh. The um... The speed at what you're working"
Perfect dodge
That lingerie catalog line killed me the first time through. This game is legendary!
"You have to become one with the bandit..."
Will be my epitath
I like the repairman, "Good enough for government work." Gets me every time.
My personal favorite is when you examine the living people in Year 1: "I could scare them to death, but then I'd get hit with a conflict of interest rap." (or something along those lines)
"I can't reap hamburger. That's a completely different department! Not to mention the lettuce."
Nice bathrobe
lol i already lost at that clown practicing wringing his neck.
they should make a netflix show based on this !!!
I'd totally watch that
Please don't let them ruin it.
abacheese grim fandango is 90’s sitcom level script writing.
But... why?
The game is already like an interactive movie. There's absolutely no reason to adapt it into a movie/series.
@@julesf.meloborges811
Nah. It might be an adventure game, but it'd be fucking amazing to see this made (by the right studio) into a movie.
I mean, it's already 100% a Noir
Plus it's criminally underrated.
“There was this one high pitched whine it was making, really grating noise you know? And I searched and searched but I couldn’t find the source of the noise until we pulled in here.”
Was it the blower?
Manny: "would you like to see my birthmark" , Mercedes : "It's wherever you guys put my skin" ... LOL everytime i hear that, the dialogue in this game is genius
Masterpiece, like CMI and other LucasArts adventures...humour,actors,soundtrack...good times
“why is it all men are after the same thing...
except you!!”
Viva La Revolución!
"Join or die!"
"But-"
"Again!"
RIP little meche
Charlie reminds me of Peter Lorre
According to the Developers' Commentary, that was the idea.
Glottis is the best mechanic in thee entire Universe
Absolutely delighted to see this video Game Destroyer! A massive well done from a fan going back to the original release. I'm sure you get people telling you all the time about how much the game meant to them. Be that the cool atmosphere, the immersive story line, the hilarous characters or the outstanding sound track. It has it all, and when I purchased a super gaming computer last August, the 1st game I bought was the remastered version.
Down through the years post 1998 I hadn't played the game for quite some time, had finished school, was in college and found myself coming up with hilarious phrases that even made me wonder of their origins. It was only when I played the game circa 2010 via VM I realized that I had unconsciously robbed a huge portion of the lines from this game. Needless to say that was a hoot to discover. An example would be the sarcastic "Taa-Daa" from the disillusioned and irritated balloon maker. I often do that when I know I've done a shit job of something, or have carried a chore out purely because I have to yet don't want to. When it's complete, then comes the "Taa-Daa".
Anyways, I won't ramble, but these are the types of uploads RUclips needs. I couldn't care less about the view / like count because you know everyone here is part of the blue casket club of cult status.
+Irish Aidan Thanks a lot for your comment! It was the second game I bought after Age of Empires 2 back in the day and I fell in love with it. It was like one of those movies you don't want to end. It has it all, like you said.
In my channel I mostly prefer playing Strategy and Simulation games but Grim Fandango symbolizes to me what gaming is all about as an experience so it has an especial place here (even in my avatar). I'm glad that you enjoyed this compilation.
My steam name is manny calavera
The Witcher 3 is the closest thing I have come to immersion
Great job putting this together

Does Domino suffer from radiculopathy?
Because I can smell BURNED bones here.
Manny,The originator of unspoken Rizz.
Glottis sounds a lot like Jontron!
I'm guessing it's the accent?
@@mdalsted
It's the rough voice.
The difference being that the stuff Glottis says is actually entertaining
Can't believe they never made a movie out of it?!? Awesome dialogues!!
No one dared tampering with this masterpiece, and thank fuck for that. Not even Tim Burton.
Grim Fandango has a way to make smart and fun dialogues. One of my favorites, I have many, is this one:
Manny: “What are you doing with a snake like Nick ?”
Olivia: “I’d lay it on ya, Manny, but I don’t think you’d get it.”
Manny: “Messing around with your boyfriend’s lawyer is pretty dangerous.”
Olivia: “Ooooh...Maybe I was wrong, you DO get it.”
I love this game, never forgot it!
MANNY: I think we should team up, be partners...
DOMINO: Oh, Manny, I would, but I'm too intimidated. I could never be partners with someone who was so much more of a man than me... MANNY: Oh come on. I've seen your wife. (Best line everrrrr) 😂😂😂😂
I've never seen this game, but it seems hilarious, I might try it
Heavily recommended.
"Nice bathrobe!"
Happy New year !
I want to play this badly, but I'm not sure if my laptop can handle it. I really love the humour in this!
If it can't run the remaster, there's a way to get it to use the original graphics which are much less intensive (I had to do that on one of my computers, once)
@@lemongreen That's a cool feature! Thanks for the info!
Where is...
It's the fear of death that makes monsters of us all. ?
You know what's funnier? when the video and the audio of the cutscenes lagged -- and everyone's voices got de-synced.
Viva la revolution!!
Is many voiced by George Lopez, He sounds like George Lopez.
Garo The Golden Knight he’s voiced by Tony Plana. If you’ve seen Ugly Betty, you’ll remember him as Betty’s father.
If you come to this video of curiosity, I promise this game is worth playing at any year. If you read this 100 years from now, this is a game to truly worth playing forever
lel i love this game
Viva la Revolicion
Hope you read this, but you really need to play the game in italian. Manny's voice is sexy and deep
I have played it in Spanish it was also great, not only Manny's voice. Interesting to know about Italian, I should watch some Italian playthrough.
+Game Destroyer Holy crap I'm so glad you replied
Sure! Thanks for commenting!
+Game Destroyer And Brazilian Portuguese mmmm. Exquisite voice acting. The remastered ver has all of the languages included, give it a try :)
brazillian portuguese has awesome voice acting dude they even made a mexican's accent to Manny!
You haven’t lived until you’ve eaten Baby manchego while playing grim fandango
