I want the Pixelbook Go with ARM processor, fanless, +12h battery life, great speakers+keyboard+touchpad combo that Google knows how to achieve and a 2K ish resolution screen with 16:10 aspect ratio.
Like, what the Pixelbook Go was but improved, and what the MacBook Air 13/15 is but without going too crazy on build quality (Pixelbook Go was great).

There's a lot of competition in that $400-ish price range. And your video didn't convince me that this one is at (or near) the top of that pack. Sub $400? Maybe. But as long as it hovers around $400, I'm still shopping.

no need to apologize for doing Chromebook+ reviews, it is what it is. I like any news/updates on Chromebook. My aunt gave me her HP 14a, and it kinda changed my life in a way. I love Crostini. I'm looking at replacing my gigantic gaming PC with something very small, preferably ARM based, that I want to throw Chrome OS Flex on. Anyway, your channel got me into all this.

Why isn't there a sub 1kg Chromebook? Even this model is almost 3 lbs. I would love a slim, small, and lightweight clamshell Chromebook for on the go use but nobody seems to make one. Yes there are 10" Chrome tablets under 2 lbs but once you add the type-cover and kickstand, they get thick and heavy. Also, the kickstand/type-cover configuration doesn't work well on a lap. Seems like there would be a market for this type of Chromebook or is it just me?

I also own this Chromebook before they re-branded it to "Chromebook Plus" on the lid. I agree with most with what was said in this short review. I use it alot for video streaming with its 1080p 300nit 100% sRGB touchscreen. It's color accurate screen definitely is the real winner here. Battery life is great, I get 9hrs-11hrs depending on my brightness levels. Backlit keyboard feels good to type on once you get used to them, but the keys don't go down as much as you think they would with how thick this "slim" chromebook is. 3.3lbs for a 14in device is alright I guess. The metal lid feels very nice, the plastic bottom is obviously less premium feeling but it does feel sturdy. Speakers are average. The included USB-C charger is very fast, I use it with my other usb-c devices now. But I will say its not the fastest Chromebook.
Despite the "i3" name. The i3-N305 processer is not as fast as the older "i3" processors I am used to. Tabs get slow to load webpages and videos once I hit over a dozen chrometabs. A chromebook with the i3-1215u that released a year or more in the past is noticeably faster than this chromebook, but those will have worse batterylife. I only reccomened this Lenovo Slim 3i Chromebook Plus if you get it at a discounted price. $549 USD as it's listed price is insane, it gets discounted often on Lenovo's website though like around $375-$400 but even at that price BestBuy may have some i3-12gen or i5-12th gen models on sale 🤷‍♂

replaced my old chromebook with this Slim 3i. Did google change the sign in? I used to be able to click the quick settings and chose which log in I wanted to use. Now I have to sign in and out..can't I be signed into 2 accounts on the device and just switch back and forth? and NO, I don't want to add a 2nd user to the browser because settings "may" be synced between all accounts. It feels like Google wants to link all my Google accounts that I have for different purposes.

@@donnarobert411 I have an older Acer spin 713 Chromebook which works really well. I also bought a refurbished HP C1030 Enterprise from Best Buy which works fabulously.
Note that for video calls Slim 3i has a better camera than the Spin 713 and HP C1030 but it isn't a dealbreaker for me since I rarely do video calls on non work laptops anyway.

  • @-Jka-

From a looks perspective this is an enterprise device - it's solid, non stylish, throwable. I agree that with the Chromebook plus 'label' this is giving corporate buyers and SME buyers an easy choice to choose this Lenovo 3 , but for the daily consumer however I'm still a fan of the slimer devices - Pixelbook Go and Lenovo 3 duet 2k devices, Speakers of the late Pixelbook Go still outshine a lot of fancy B&O labelled devices and the sleek design of it are just stunning. The Lenovo Duet 3 2K's ability to span portable work needs in a mega sized IT server machine room for problem solving and then flipping it to a tablet in a meeting room at the blink of an eye are a surprise for onlookers.

I take it this is not fanless? N-series processors usually are, this one maybe could be but isn't here, correct? To me, that is the one thing that would have made this *much* more interesting. Having to resort to ARM and its limited Linux support just to get a fanless system is not a great option. I'd pass up on the "Plus" to get a fanless Intel-based Chromebook that could be a worthy a successor to the Pixelbook Go or ASUS CX5400. Still, this one seems nice enough for what it is.

So far, I have not found a Chromebook Plus laptop that excites me. Maybe, because all the models on offer in the UK have very lack lustre Intel and AMD Ryzen processors that the rest of industry does not want. I don't even understand why the Chromebook Plus branding is reserved for x64 processors. Many of the Arm processors with their NPUs, such as the MediaTek Kompania 1380 can do the blurred background etc stuff standing on their head. Judging by Google's latest Chrome OS 121 release, with Debian Bookworm now being the Linux default container, and poor code in the Bookworm Cros tools that trigger stack smashing and core dumps for aarch64 Chromebooks Mesa OpenGL drivers, I suspect Google has now lost interest with Arm Chromebooks. There is a short window of opportunity for Chromebook Plus, until Google inevitably lose interest in that too!
