I NAILED IT ON THE FIRST TRY!!! It was the best tutorial I have seen, very easy to follow along, I just had to pause it a few times because I'm a slow 53 yr old so if I can do it anyone can. My router interface was nothing like yours, my single port forwarding was under gaming, not security but like you said patience and common sense you can figure it out. Thank you for taking the time to make this tutorial, muchly appreciated! Jim

All I get is Waiting for publication.... Every IP address is as it should be. double, triple, cuadruple checked.

2019 video is still a great tutorial awesome job, I've come across a small bug if your server isn't showing and you see 0/0 in the steam servers , just ignore it it takes awhile for the server to actually load up (3-5 mins)
Well hot cow pies!!! I gots me my very own Ark Server now! Gotta say your tutorial was spot on. Had a little trouble when it came to the port forwarding part, mine seemed to be significantly different than yours. But I figured it out followed the rest of your steps and am currently logged into my very own Ark Server! Tutorial works spot on as of May, 2019!!!
Once I got to the router/port forwarding settings, that's where I couldn't follow anymore. Verizon's UI is so outdated/awfully designed that I was completely lost trying to figure out how to transfer your UI's simple format and replicate it over into Verizon's terribly designed one. So I did what I thought might work, but I get the failure to publish indefinitely on server status in ARKServerSettings. Something isn't quite right with the port forwarding I guess. But I'm completely lost, and searching on YT/Google has netted me nothing for trying to do the ports correctly via the Verizon UI.
Everything else was quite easy to follow, very concise, and the best video on the subject I've been able to locate thus far. Thanks for the video!
Edit: After spending the entire day trying to figure out how the ports were wrong due to Verizon's terrible format, a Minecraft video from 2012 using the same Verizon layout used as a supplement to your video got it up and working. Thanks again!

I made the port forwarding. I configured the server. I can join it, but my friends can't. They cant see the server in the ark server list, nor in the steam favourites after adding the server. ASM writes the server availability is "Waiting for publication". Double-checked the port forwarding, done everything like you.

@@darktooloud That is not necessarily true, I have my ports completely correct and i am still getting the "waiting for publication" issue
I ended up fixing this by simply restarting my router!
So I turn off my pc, restart the router and once i do that (because my ip changes all the time) I turn it back on and my ip will have changed again so i need to port the current ip that it shows that i have (It switches between 2 or 3 ips.)
Go back to Ark manager and set it to the "new" ip and voila! thats how simple it was for me to fix it! Nothing to do with wrong ports, 7778, firewall or any other dumb shit. Just restart router!

to anyone who can't access the IP address in their browser.
If you have a VPN, uninstall it, don't just log out, uninstall it.
Some VPNs have a built in firewall the will be active even when you're not logged in.
I uninstalled mine and it worked like a charm, i'm going to reinstall it now and hopefully nothing gets fukt in the process :)
This video is amazing, thank you. An added note to accompany this tutorial, if you use virus software besides Windows Defender, you'll have to go to that software to allow the ports through the firewall. Otherwise your friends wont see the server listed. Good luck.

my default gateway address doesn't work when i type it in the browser, it shows an error - ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED

Well, all I can say is that worked a charm, I even used my brain a bit on the router port forwarding stuff but info I need you gave so 100% recommended by me.. If you get bored and wanna do another Tutorial, I would not say no to watching one where you set up a Conan Exiles server along side your Ark one with info needed to have both from one system ;-)

Having a problem with my Server it says "waiting for publication" and I have all 4 Ports up for my router. not sure if I missed something or not. :( I see the server ALSO up on Steam servers And i only see my server up in ark in the LAN section.
Are you running your server through a wireless isp or a cellular network? Also 2 in one routers are buggy with it

I fixed this my checking the status of the network and ensuring it was set to private, and able to see other computers on the network. Do this both on the server box, and the computer you're playing on, then go and allow shooter game through public and private networks on both boxes. Good luck.
Do you know If there is a way to show my server on the Ark Survival for Epic Games?

Server is up and running so thanks for that... my only question is how would I find the server I made if I have the game through epic? I did the bit you showed where you make sure it's running correctly on the server menu in Steam, but I just got the game through the free event on Epic.
After some research i found that when you are in a singleplayer game and you open console(default = tab), then write "open *ip:port* " you should be able to join your server.

Can I just use the "both" instead of TCP and UDP in port forwarding? Because it won't let me add with the same port number even if it's not tcp but udp and different name. It says that the rule already exists or it's overlapping an existing rule and therefore can't be added.
EDIT: I took the liberty of just doing that, which should work expecially since it added both the way you showed anyway in the end.
Had to do the same thing with an arris router but, for whatever reason I now can not connect online with steam server. my ark server will launch but I can not connect to steam with or without the server running.
@kgCali_mota nope. I abandoned all hope and decided to go with a server provider. I'm about 80 percent satisfied with the decision but it is 100 percent easier.

I am able to join the server myself but no one else can even see it, im 99% sure I ported it right but when I check the port it says they are closed, thats probably the problem but I dont know how to fix it. I have already turned off all virus protectors, firewalls, etc and im not sure what to do. Anyone know how to fix this?

@@keatoncore3321 Mine too, i followed this and it worked fine with my friends months back, i did the same process even reinstalled ASM and it still has gethostname failed
I let it wait for another 400ish seconds and it seems to just have worked, my solution was just ignoring the whole "gethostbyname" completley.

@@dalucky7988 were you have "waiting for publication" on your status when you were waiting? Since mine stops to work there, i run the server and let it boot. And then no one besides me can connect since it's waiting for publication and nothing happens....

@@Rubexo1 Yeah for some reason when I set up my Minecraft server that worked perfectly fine and I had no troubles with port forwarding. I'm not sure why ARK isn't working though.

Brah, my AMS wont open! i already tried to find solutions on google and sites, but nothing :( I just execute the Exe and NOTHING happens... the process appear in the taskmanager but fade after 4 or 5 seconds.

Yo, i have tried everything. I've done the portforwarding 3 times now, on all possible ports, still not working. Can you help me out? Everything works, but it's not showing up for my friends/arkserver finder.

I do wonder though, is there a reason you made separate rules for TCP and UDP on the modem settings when you can set it to both and just have a single rule per port?
UnknownSpiral sorry for late reply was on vacation but sometimes routers wont be compatible with firewall rules if they are together, depends on your router

@@declanharrison7212 i ended up finding mine, instead of security like he went to, ours should be in basic (at least mine was) i also found a video to help me with my router so that's also a viable option as well (ie *your router brand* port forwarding tutorial. hope this helps :)

If I change the map on that profile server on ark manager, will I still retain all the previous data on that map or will it erase it?

Yeah that means your server is up. If it isn't public, something went wrong with your port forwarding.

If you're sick of the pop up about running as admin every time do this. Right-click the Server Manager icon select properties, click Advanced, check Run as Administrator, click okay, click apply and click OK.

@@HiddenRamza if it says waiting for publication under the status bar you did something wrong but you need a public IP with port looking like 11.11.11.11:27015 you can Google public IP but if it's same house just use your ipv4 address

that'd be something you'd have to talk to your network admin about. If you don't have your own router, you'll need to get one. Good luck.

That's an Ark issue on their end that they've never gotten around to fixing. Really irritating.
Everything work but my friend or anyone outside my network can not fined it... I am hosting many other games but Ark just dose not what to work... I can see it on my home network all day but that's about it...

To be absolutely clear, this DOES indeed work for the Epic Games client.
Just follow the instructions in the video, THEN add "-crossplay -UseVivox" to Server Args at the bottom of the Administration tab of your server. Click Save. Restart Ark Server Manager. Start your server up.
